damosuzuki
Seeing as there is already an Elite League thread. Somerset remain unbeaten and look to top the table going into the playoffs and also Glasgow and resurgent Edinburgh look to be destined for top 6 places. My 6 for the playoffs would be: Somerset Glasgow Sheffield Edinburgh Newcastle Workington With Glasgow defeating Somerset in the final. crescent girl
I think Worky's away form will eventually see them slip out of the top six. Amazed to realise Edinburgh now fractionally ahead of Glasgow in +/- and could be runners-up in the table with the advantage of being seeded in play-offs. All in all, it is getting interesting.....

sparkafag
Newcastle or Edinburgh. As impressive as Somerset are I am not entirely sure they will thrive “Up North” which is where the majority of Play Off Speedway is likely to be raced. If Worky slip out which they well could, unfortunately think it's too late for Berwick this season so it might well be Peterborough... Somerset have really clicked this year and are the team to beat . Grajczonek is doing what is expected , Tungate has found a new impetus since leaving Ipswich and Wright is as steady as ever . Starke has really kicked on this year and in Wilson Dean and Jake Allan they always have a potent reserve , which means they can be patient with the other laddie at 7 . Over two legs anything is possible , but they have been the team of the year . My own team look the side most capable of giving them a run for it , but we'd have to improve a bit away from home , especially at the Oak Tree Arena where we have fallen away in the second half of meetings there . Edinburgh and Newcastle cant be written off , but I get the suspicion that Glasgow and Somerset will be seeing quite a bit of each other in the closing weeks of the season

My only worry would be that we never seem to hit form at the same time on away fixtures and always have one or two riders who have performed poorly - but saying that we still always have scored at least 40 points in each away league fixture. I still say over 2 legs we can beat anyone and my prediction is that Newcastle will win both the League and the KO Cup this year. But without doubt it's going to be the closest play offs since it started. Edited August 8, 2016 by acclennell

All meeting's pan out differently though thing's can happen in meeting's that alter the course so whilst you are in with a shout to base it on one meeting by both teams at the OTA doesn't really work based on your theory. montie
if Newcastle can keep Worrall and Lambert fit for the closing stages, over two legs they will take some beating,

True, next time Newcastle might go back with their best rider and give them an utter skelping. I am quite happy with the theory that Newcastle scoring more at Somerset than Glasgow suggests Newcastle are more likely to push Somerset than Glasgow though Well, that and there is Glasgow’s general performance level on the road loosing at places like Redcar and Scunthorpe which suggests a weak underbelly to me.

No doubting we have been inconsistent on the road but there are signs that Glasgow are really clicking at the right time i would be more than happy to see a Newcastle, Glasgow final but for me Somerset are the team to beat so for that to happen one off us would have to win against them over 2 legs. Makes it for an interesting end off season though.
Shadders
Can't see Lewis Rose doing much away from Brough Park and Phillips looks way off the pace Edited August 8, 2016 by Shads
acclennell
Can't see Lewis Rose doing much away from Brough Park and Phillips looks way off the pace True but Lewis is very strong at home and it's about aggregate scores over two legs - totally agree about Phillips mind and I'm very surprissed he hasn't been replaced well before now. I don't get why Phillips has not been replaced as he is nowhere near Premier League standard at this moment in time - I know you can replace him with Rose for one of his rides but I would be suprised if he is averaging 1 point this season and a lot of his points have been gifted. Questions on a postcard.
GS550
Hard to envisage a 6 man team winning the league but you never know. Been done many times before. And with only effectively 4 man teams as well (e.g. Joe Owen 11 point ave, Rod Hunter 10.50 point ave, Bobby Beaton 10.20 point ave, Alan Emerson 8 point ave, didn't matter what the other 3 did, they usually steamrollered everybody else away from home, as did Arena Essex in 91 season with a colossal top 3/4)
