mdmc82
The remaining meetings for the teams in the play off race.  BELLE VUE (H) Swindon, King's Lynn, Coventry, Leicester, Poole +2 (A) Poole  (Points available = 22)  POOLE (H) Leicester, Belle Vue, King's Lynn (A) king's Lynn (No facility NKI), Leicester, Swindon, Wolves, Belle Vue +2  (Points available = 33)   WOLVES (H) Lakeside, Swindon, King's Lynn, Poole, Coventry (date TBC) (A) King's Lynn  (Points available = 19)   LAKESIDE (H) Coventry (no facility for KK), Swindon, King's Lynn (A) Coventry (no facility for KK), Wolves, King's Lynn  (Points available = 21)  SWINDON (H) Poole, Leicester? (A) King's Lynn, Wolves, Belle Vue, Lakeside  (Points available = 22)   I think Swindon could be the team to miss out. Looking at those fixtures, apart from King's Lynn away I wouldn't be confident of them picking up points in the others. Tough for them against mainly play off rivals.  A lot of the teams still have to race each other which will have a big say in who finishes top and who finishes 5th Edited August 11, 2016 by mdmc82

A ORLOV
The way that Swindon are riding at the moment we will only get points against Leicester at home, even Poole might beat us.

LisaColette
Whether it's the final or semi Belle Vue v wolves will easily be the biggest gate for the cup now woofinden is in their team, therefore if we finish top we have to pick wolves in the semi final to guarantee not missing out on the big gate. Â Poole haven't just got weaker because woofinden has signed for wolves and the risk would be picking the other team and then poole beating wolves or we could really balls it up and even lose to the other team. Â The other question is who will poole pick if they finish top? Definitely not Wolves as we got thrashed there. We won at Lakeside, so probably them of they get 4th. B.V 72
Even after the events of today i still feel that Poole are the team to beat for the simple reason that they have got two very strong reserves. As an example last years final over the two legs Belle vues top five had a combined score of 80 Pooles top 5 a combined score of 63.Belle vues reserves had a combined total of 10 Pooles reserves had a combined total of 29 so you can see who won them the play offs last year. So it could be the same again this year.Over two legs i think Poole Wolves Belle vue etc all have fairly evenly match top 5s but as a pair i think that on paper Pooles reserves are far better than the rest so for any team to beat Poole over two legs their reserves need to be on top form. tellboy
Of course Belle Vue are Favourites! They are on great form, almost unbeatable and miles clear at the top of the league! What part of "best team this year" don't you understand? Â They are clear favourites. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about the sport knows this. Its not even up for debate. All other teams are floundering while Belle Vue keep on winning. They could easily go the rest of this season without losing again. Members 29,077 posts Posted Today, 01:35 AM Poole have three meetings on Belle Vue. They are 5 points behind. Belle Vue have to visit Poole once. Poole are yet to visit Belle Vue this season. Poole have one visit to Monmore, one to Leicester, one to Swindon, and one to Kings Lynn. Â We have to target wins at Leicester next Saturday, Swindon on the following Monday, and Belle Vue on the 29th. If we win those and beat Belle Vue at home we can finish top. Not easy but possible. Â Â Â Â How a couple of days changes in Shovlars world .From Belle Vue being overwhelming favourites to now Poole can do this. And he goes on about other fans "if they have an ounce of knowledge about the sport" which he clearly does not outside of Dorset. They are misleading unless you compare fairly, ie. 6h +6a. Come the end of the season then would be fair, but i still think the Poole averages will be higher than Belle Vue. Â Belle Vue are still favourites to finish top. But we can get something out of our next two away meetings to bring it all down to the 29th August. Â Perhaps Belle Vue can use a bit of promotional savvy to pack the place out.
sparkafag
So instead of one massive crowd v Poole, Belle Vue will likely get two massive crowds against possibly Poole and Wolves.  And instead of it only being a place at the top of the league that matters it is making 4 places in the league that matters  That sounds like a pretty decent case for the Play offs.
orion
Lol! Top place simply doesn't matter. Of course it does ..as Belle Vue and Poole will not want to Race Wolves in the semi ..as if they get knock out they will miss out on the big crowd you get get for a final ..even a simpleton could work that out .. BWitcher
Had it been a proper league do you think the crowd on Monday at wolves would have been bigger or smaller (have sky ever not shown the top two match in the fa pl?), do you think the crowd at belle vue last Wednesday v lakeside would have been bigger or smaller, do you think the two crowds at belle Vue v Poole would have been bigger or smaller, do you think the crowd at Poole v belle Vue would have been bigger or smaller, do you think the crowd at belle Vue v Swindon or kings Lynn next week or so will be bigger or smaller? Â Had it been a proper league Belle Vue, Poole and wolves would have been pulling big crowds for the last two months, Monday at wolves would have been rammed for example, and the extra would have swamped the cup crowds. Â Why did only two kl fans turn up for a meeting that would have seen them finish top? Â As said to you before, take your case to those that matter, the promoters. Â Are you afraid of their answer? sparkafag
Any supposed increased crowds at Wolves would have dwindled after Monday when they were knocked out of contention for a title win, the reality is after Monday no one at Wolverhampton would care less about a league win and thus their crowds would dwindle and tail off, whereas now there season has been reignited so it would be left to Poole and Belle Vue to have increased crowds, great amazing, but what about the rest.  What about Swindon and Lakeside, to a lesser extent Coventry? They have been out of title contention for months, no one at those tracks gives a toss if Belle Vue slightly increase crowds either home or away because they might win the title that night, and generally it is only around about the time a side might win the league at that meeting that crowds increase.  Would Belle Vue or Pooles travelling fans for example, make up the weekly deficit and drop in crowds at places like Lakeside and Swindon when they have nothing to race for, for months on end, I doubt it – that is before even thinking about how far ahead Somerset might end up in the PL.  The Play Off’s allow league interest to drip down the leagues rather than simply increasing the swell at the one or two sides who generally run away with seasons, it allows more meetings throughout the season to be of interest to more clubs and more fans, and also provides the bonus of a guarantee of big nights, big crowds and more meetings to generate media interest across the country rather than in the city where they might win the league. sparkafag
You seem to be turning to the hackneyed argument that the race for the top 4 generates bigger crowds, did you see the empty terraces and quarter full stand at Coventry on Monday? Â The small (virtually imperceivable) increase in attendance's for the lower teams doesn't come close to covering the difference the top teams lose when they've already qualified for the cup. Because Coventry aren't in the race for the top 4 anymore.....if there wasn't a top 4 though would the crowd at that meeting be any different, no, it's a terrible example to use. Â The beauty of it though is its balanced when sides have a good year eg Coventry who have had the boosts before vs this season when others are getting it. Â The idea that sides like Belle Vue are making up the deficit of lost fans with their traveling support is hilarious though (lol).
sparkafag
That's what I said, there is no travelling support even for a team looking to finish top?  The coventry swindon meeting was a classic cup qualifier, coventry have a vague outside chance and swindon were right in the mix with lakeside but nobody gave a shyt. Coventry aren't in the mix in all honesty most of there fans probably know that, as I said it's a poor example it neither proves nor disproves the play off theory.  The reverse fixture which was decently attended Is a better gauge a side in the hunt who's attendances have reason to hold up rather than fall off  What you're advocating is Swindon and Coventry running dead rubbers for months, in a Play Off system Swindon aren't they are running meeting to make the Play Offs rather than to finish 4th. On the 29th August, at an unfair time of noon, Belle Vue take on Poole. You can be sure there will be a decent amount of Poole fans coming up for this. We have to leave ar around a ludicrous 6 am to get there on time, but I know of at least 20 making the trip up north. Â This meeting might not be anything more than a "cup qualifier", but it will probably have enormous importance on this years title. Â I would not be suprised to see a delayed start, full grandstand and three quarters full stadium. Glad I have my ticket already, so no queues other than entry to the stadium. New Science
I hope you are right, we've got a mortgage to pay. This year was more than covered by the opening night crowd, next year was covered by BSI so the 4000+ crowd for wolves/woofinden in the semi will cover 2018. Â If we can pay off three years worth every season it'll be done and dusted in no time, and to think some people were worried we wouldn't be able to make the payments for one season, ha ha! I thought you had to give back most of the opening night money ?
