Lakeside-v- Belle Vue 5 Th August.

Recommended Posts

R/R for Ed Kennett. Jon Cook says on the club website that they are strong enough at home to cover for Ed. Going by the latest GSA's it seems that his rides can be taken by Richard Lawson, who is roughly the same level, Lewis Bridger, who is very hit and miss on the Jawa at the moment, and the two reserves, who might beat Joe Jacobs if they make the gate and that's about it. Meanwhile Belle Vue are strengthened by Nick Morris in for Max Fricke. Cooke is calling on his riders to raise their game which I suppose is coded language for saying we are up the creek without a paddle.

Belle Vues to lose.

Oh dear it gets worse no EK now its the same every year (except last) in the top four till

6 meetings left and it all goes ** up through injury or availability. Then whoever the team

is who can get their full team out for the last 6/7 meetings make the playoffs. if we don't

win tomorrow then it is defo all over for another year god I am getting bored.

R/R for Kennett weakens Lakeside, whether that is sufficient to overcome their strong home advantage is the question. The Aces seem to be on a run at the moment. If Morris rides as he did for Swindon and he has the incentive to keep Swindon in the top four, we could get another 3/4 points.

We can cover for Eddy at home? we didnt have Eddy against Poole, how did that one work out for us?

I can only see crowds dropping off further than they have been already this season, I hate getting drawn into such negativity but this scenario does have air of familiarity about and its a shame as I thought we had a decent team this season if everyone lived up to expectations but nearly half the team were coming back from retirement or injury and in truth you look at the stats and it was a gamble that did not pay off, I think fans of other clubs were probably more wise to that than ourselves who were going on blind faith it would work out.

The team is not a bad side the problem is the fixture clashes or riders otherwise missing.

With hindsight it seems a big mistake to have let Piotr Swiderski go. Ed Kennet is a better rider but at least Swid was always there and good for 8 or 9 points at home riding at No2 which would have been more than enough to get the win over Poole and almost certainly enough to see Belle Vue off. Admittedly Swid sometimes struggled away but they never won any away matches after he left so that really makes no difference.

As has been said Lakeside are weak at reserve, and can in no sense replace Kennets ability.

Very disappointing.

Sorry i dont agree with your post. Most teams have missing riders these days just look at your last three visitors i think 11 away team riders were missing over the three meetings.

Now this is only my opinion but i think the reason that Lakeside fall away every year is because your track gives you a massive home advantage its very different to all the other Elite league tracks. The problems start because your promoters pick riders that are track experts round Lakeside but most of them do not ride other tracks anywhere as good as they do at home.I would even say that if this team rode their home matches at any other clubs track they would be nowhere near a play off position as they would have lost a good few home meetings.

The plan seems to be win every home meeting and hope to pick up the odd away point and just scrape into the play offs. Then if we do that with our home track advantage we stand a chance of beating anyone over 2 legs but if you loose at home this plan goes to pot.The teams that finish in the top 4 will have picked up more away points than Lakeside and you are only in with a chance that the plan will work this year because Swindon have lost 4 at home.So until your promoters pick a balanced team that can win more on the road theres a good chance that it will be the same every year.

We have and have had riders who can ride bigger tracks just that when they come to us they forget how to ride them but the main issue is just poor team building using riders with very limited potential to improve if at all.

I like Kelvin but one of the reasons he was brought in was to help with the bikes yet we are over halfway through the season and some of the boys are still struggling for power or something, Robert has been racing a lawnmower engine for much of the campaign, it's something that surely should have been sorted?

AJ can ride snywhere well, Kim does well on the bigger tracks in Sweden, Lewi Kerr is a KIngs Lynn asset, Ed and Rich are top of the PL averages and score well on virtually all the PL tracks wherever they go. Lewis Bridger is a bit of an enigma but suffers from lack of regular racing but suffers under the daft ruling that allows Team GB members to ride PL for regular racing and regular money but not Bridger.. Rob Mear is simply a bad pick.

Quite why they travel so badly is a difficult one to solve, but the fact remains that going into this match with /r/r for Ed is a masterpiece of bad planning

Be interesting to see what Cook says on the mic.

STOP PRESS: From our club's website............R/R for Belle Vue's Matej Zagar. Ongoing 'issues' with tape burns to his neck - I kid you not!
