Workington V Newcastle Pl 6/8/16 7pm

just a point on kenneth,s exclusion,i did not see it but from where i stand on the first bend the white line looked to be a yard from the edge of the track, surely this is shortening the declared length of the track.but coming out of turn two the line was at the edge of the rugby pitch

Last night was very entertaining night ,but the hype about Robert Lambert is to much to bare,on last nights performance he could not gate then he rode in my opinion very wild to catch the others ,on a couple of occasions he was out of control.Maybe he has talent but he aint got a race brain and like jason garrity he could do a lot of damage to himself or other riders.Maybe the pundits should stop building him up and let him get on with building a career in speedway

jeas you couldnt be more wrong.

Over the top reaction on Kus. He has been decent of late, one poor match and that's it he has to go....By the same token Lambert and Paolvaara would also be dropped as they were both equally as poor on the night.

It was a disappointing result. Workington (a bit like Scunthorpe) seems to be a track where we always struggle for some reason. I've said that I would fancy us over two legs against anyone but Workington would be the one team I'd want to avoid as they also go pretty well at Brough.

We need to bounce back tonight and we certainly need to do better in our remaining away matches if we are to secure a play-off place.

having a bad night is one thing, the accounts of those there that he didnt look interested etc sound worrying...overall hes been ok for us but certainly hasnt pulled up many trees.

So, we are basing the 'hype' on one performance? Brilliant. Well done. I'd leave it to those who watch him regularly to base an opinion if I was you, rather than on one night in difficult conditions.

Would it not be lengthening the declared length of the track if the line was a yard from the edge?

not if it was a yard the other, like on the grass ;)

and on the Lambert vibe,,, I certainly wouldn't be likening Lambert and Garritty, 'chalk and cheese' is more like it, both great talents but totally different persona's IMO

Just having a browse through the PL results this week. The admission to this meeting was reduced to £10 in for adults and £1 for children... Yes?

I don't seem to have found any real comments to the size of the crowd.. I gather from some chatter that conditions weren't ideal with the on/off rain, but what was the rough size of the crowd compared to a normal race night admission?

First of all well done to both sets of riders for putting on a good show in difficult conditions.

Regarding Robert Lambert the man is obviously very talented , one only has to have seen his great pass on the outside of Hansen on bend 3/4 in 5 to realise this.

Some of the negative comments from Workington fans about Lambert are petty and un called for (i agree its all about personal opinion though), yes his gating is not very good at times but the guy certainly has talent in abundance and his performaces on the whole cannot be gauged against two meetings at Derwent Park.

EL average 8.00 PL average 9.19 (Speedway Star)

On another point i did see Kenneth Hansen go over the white line in heat 3 but not on the heat he was excluded for but then again i had moved in to the back straight by then!

The times for the heats were getting progressively slower as the rain kept falling throughout the meeting but this only added to the entertainment which just shows that speed is not the be all and end all when it comes to a good Speedway race.

Looking at the League table this morning the top five look pretty well secure to qualify for the play offs, which leaves Berwick Newcastle and Workington to fight it out for the last place.......my bet is for Newcastle to grab it !!

Good crowd last night, maybe not as many in the grandstand but certainly a lot more on the popular side. I'm sure if we could maintain the sort of level we've had for the last two weeks the promotion would be more than happy.

Cant really see Berwick in top6 unless fixtures are not completed.Worky and Newcastle have 7 &9 matches in hand.

If it is any indication, it was announced last night that the car park had been closed cos it was full, and they ran out of programmes, something they did last week I believe against Peterborough.

Home straight grandstand looked full, poor crowd in the back straight one, and good ring of supporters(including the Geordies) around the 1st and 2nd top section. Decent atmosphere actually.

Pity about the Meteors V Gems NJL match callof, but the kids safety is more important.

Yet I thought that (compared to last time we were there) that the backstraight stand had fans more in it. Homestraight Grandstand was half-ish full. Lots of visiting fans also congregated on the backstaight (prob to shelter from the rain, despite rain getting through the roof!!).

Definitely more fans on the back straight than usual. Not as many in the main stand as last week but still a good crowd in there (it holds @900 when full).
