Coventry 2017

Recommended Posts

New directive about to be issued by the bspa. All bikes must be fitted with headlights when riding at Brandon.

Sandhu basically sticking two fingers up at Coventry speedway fans and doing all he can in an attempt to stop speedway running in 2017. Taking away the lights, armco. seats and shale is very petty. If protecting his interests is his viewpoint it shows he has no respect for speedway fans. Just an attempt to derail Coventry speedway and Horton.

And to think Bees fans were originally hailing Sandhu and Trump as messiahs.

WHILST away on my holiday I have heard the news of what has happened to the stadium.

I want to assure the fans I am still 100 per cent committed to the Bees racing at Brandon for 2017.

However, I would need to see the damage first-hand before further decisions can be made.

I wish to thank all speedway and stock car fans for their continued support, and I can confirm speedway still holds the lease for next year.

That third paragraph sounds ominous.

Even though I wouldn't expect much from Sandhu, given his history, I didn't quite expect him to deliver such a kick in the teeth to the Coventry Speedway fans, many of whom showed him a great deal of deference and respect and were even prepared to give him the benefit of what must have been some considerable doubt!

I really hope there is a way through as I know many good people at Coventry who support and help the club tirelessly and they deserve so much more than they are getting at the moment!

That third paragraph sounds ominous.

Let's hope his next statement is more positive.

It's not quite the "There will 100% be speedway at Coventry next year.

Talk of "I need to see the damage myself" and "speedway still has a lease for 2017" is not the same as saying Speedway will definitely take place in 2017 at Coventry.

I got accused by one of being negative so early in the close season. I am not a Coventry supporter but believe me I want them to run be it at Coventry or Leicester for the better of speedway.

I just hope for the sake of the sport at least one of these promotions get their act together and get speedway on in at least one stadium and preferable two.

As for the negative comments what does one expect when neither promotions has come out with a definitive answer on running in 2017, although I know its still early. The sport really doesn't deserve such negative publicity when it needs to pull together for its very survival.

Now we know malicious intent.like Like many others I was present in 2010 (?) when Sandhu gave his promise that he would provide a new Coventry Stadium if Brandon was sold for housing. Sounds like the promise meant nothing to him although we were happy that he provided this promise in front of many loyal supporters. A case of if I can't bat I'm taking the bat and ball home!!

We are disappointed that Mick Horton has decided to issue a statement that infers he is shocked and unaware of the current removal of our property from the Coventry Stadium site whilst on holiday.

He knew as he has been in touch with us, with many others in speedway numerous times every day by text and e mail until 2.15pm yesterday when we received a e-mail from his lawyer that he would not be proceeding with the agreement.

Mick has also told his riders that he would understand if they decided to race elsewhere and we have always known and now confirmed that he had no intention of racing next year.

We will be making a full statement in due course.

😥😥😥 End of Coventry speedway after all these years.

If they knew Horton wasn't going to use the lease why don't they negotiate a new lease with the stadium owners? No need to strip the stadium then is there! I dont see why both sports cant have a seperate lease. Jeez how all very childish Edited by woz01

Exactly what I've heard. Plus I've also heard another Club not so far away from Coventry has no intention of running next season.

So many people involved in this sport are purely in it for personal gain.
