fliss44
All Horton has to do is nail down some scaffolding boards and you have a Poole set up. They don't have seats down there, you sit on blanks of wood As for the team. I think it's just fine. I think we'll make the play-offs. And if anyone is crap in the fort 6-8 meetings they can be replaced easily with the points limit being so high. I'm unable to like as I must have used my ''likes''up. What a sensible post. James Sarjeant is very professional and fully aware he needs to 'up' his game next season and needs to practise his gating (Bomber also had a gating problem). In the weakened league I don't think our team is that bad but I am looking at my glass half full. Reserves can make or break the final score and many other teams have yet to be publicised. Let's hope we have our track.
greyhoundp
I have just spent an hour at Brandon Stadium, had a good walk around, stood on the roof of my van to see inside, and spoke to one of the contractors from JJ Commercials, scrap metal company from Birmingham. From what I could see, all the light fittings on both corners have been removed, the centre lights and all light fittings along both straights are still in situ. The plastic seating on the Rugby bend side of the Stadium has been removed, but are stacked at the back of the stand. From what I could see, most of the seating is still in place. There is no evidence of any on going work at the track, no evidence of any of the fencing, armco etc being dismantled. Speaking with one of the contractors, he states they have been brought in to clear out all the metal ware and fittings from the dog section of the Stadium, the metal turnstiles from the two disused turnstile buildings, and years of old metal and other rubbish from under the main stands. He told me they have not removed anything from the track including the lights and are not under instruction to do so. I witnessed the workmen remove a large stainless steel cylinder from under the stand, and I watched as they unbolted the old turnstiles from the disused turnstile buildings, these are the building with the pitched roofs near to the dog kennels. On walking around the stadium I saw a skip in the car park that contained plastic and other non metal scrap. There were a number of old cash registers, printer, bunting, and advertising boards. I believe these are old items that have been removed from under the old stand. So; I know Mick is currently in Florida and returning next week, hopefully he will post something on the web site. At this stage, having spoken to the contractor and visited the site, I hope this is a general clear out and not stripping of the Stadium as we all feared. I pass the Stadium daily and will provide a further update if anything changes. Thanks for the update, but you say No evidence of Armco being removed when photographs on the Save Coventry speedway FB page, clearly show that the Armco has been removed.. Starman2006
With the side that has been put out I do hope something comes out of the woodwork, as you get the impression they are trying to push fans away.

The team won't push me away at all. A track that is A.W.O.L. will though.
Gemini
That's me out. That's got me puzzled because how can you be 'Out' when you weren't 'In' anyway?

INCOGNITO
What are the bookies odds on the Press Statement being BEES COMPLETE AND MOVE TO LEICESTER ? Pictures do look in some cases to be a bit of a demolishing job or laying Tarmac eventually for the stock cars and no speedway and with very little movement or noise from Leicester could the two be connected ? PS Shocking team and when you compare King and Bjere with KK and Hans or Lindgren and Thorssell or Doyle and Morris it's looking like a second rate team with little potential apart from Bjerre being on a bargain average. DC2
Poor team with a weak top 5 & excessive 10 points on reserves. One decent five point reserve (Bates) is enough. Should have gone with: King Bjerre Bjerre Garrity Kylmakorpi Perks Bates

Bees_Man
Korpi is obviously more expensive than Kerr, and that I'm afraid is all it's about now with Coventry under this shower. Ford stated in their local paper that Coventry had financial problems and Horton wanted costs cut even more!! Studland Bee
In answer to a couple of points; I stood on the roof of my van in Speedway Lane so not the best view of the inner track area, but i could see the stand and general look of the place. I also walked around into the woods and could see the contractors at the rear of the main stand with two skips. The skips contained old rubbish, a section of temporary link fencing and other materials. There was no armco barrier sections or other materials that I could identify from the track as I know it. The pictures I have seen show the track entrance where there is no armco barrier anyway. I have not seen any pictures of the bends / straights, that shows where armco has been removed. I have pictures of when the armco was installed many years ago. The foundations have steel sections six feet in length set in concrete under ground, the visible armco is also filled with concrete, this would be a major job to remove and would need some serious machinery. The only machinery I could see today was a cherry picker in the riders car park, not being used, and a mini digger being used by the contractors. I am only reporting on what i could see and on what one of the contractors said to me.
naffer
Crikey me I thought Leonard cohen had shuffled off his mortal coil, his spirit sure lives on in this thread. I partly get the criticism of the team and sarje is a risk on his average but he achieved it by an improved second half of the season at Ipswich now he needs to kick on and prove his worth over a full year with the bees. We have four young brits who are all improving ,Danny is on an upward curve if the bjerre boys get going we will be alright . This side is only just below the limit (compared to 3 points last year) I realise averages will drop but this side can average 45/46 and we must then be in with a play off shout. Up the bees
thecoombdog
Coventry look strong this year. Potential title winners with Swindon and Leicester IMO

Maybe, but his EL average equates to 5.33 & yet the Bees have signed him on his PL average of 5.81
Midland Red
There are many references to Mick Horton doing everything, including team building, on the cheap He obviously doesn't have a bottomless pit of funds, and has to work to a budget - he clearly doesn't make a fortune out of being promoter of Bees, but is willing to give it a go as far as those funds will go Thanks to him Bees have survived to 2016, despite various problems thrust on him not of his creation - and he carries on into 2017 with the clear intention of speedway continuing at Brandon Other promotions have gone under through financial problems, but Bees continue, at present, thanks to Mick Horton's efforts

In the PL he also partnered Danny in 3 of his heats and ended up with more bonus points than any other Witches rider last year. For Ipswich after a shaky first few weeks he was generally exceeding expectations.
