Coventry 2017

Recommended Posts

Looking okay at the moment.

If we add Garrity, Rory & Ayres or Garrity, JK & a 2pt like Perks, then it would look really good. Most 2nd reserves will only get 3 rides.

However if we add Garrity, and another 2 reserve riders in Kerr & Sarjeant (as strongly rumoured) then we will be bottom of table.

Good to hear 7 out of 9 clubs all wanted Bates and yet he stayed with us. 👍🏻

I'm betting Poole was one of two that didn't! Wonder who the other one was? Not that it matters. Seems Coventry are getting riders that can score 6-8 points each. No weak links.

Looking more like a mid table side at best. Not sure i would want both Bjerre's in my team tbh...

Lighten up a bit Blu, has the potential for playoffs if the promotion get the final signings right!

Dunno why but I can see Kenneth Hansen signing for Coventry after him sucking up to them on Twitter :P Or is that just me?

Great day at the @motorcyclelive for @CoventryBees. Great effort from the whole Randle family to promote Coventry and speedway in general! 1f3c1.png

Will be a major surprise if he does sign as he said he would never ride for Mick Horton again. :o

Really pleased with the team so for. The Bjerre IMO are absolute bargains and capable of improving their averages. Bates will be one of the better reserves and King is pretty solid.

Keep this up and we should have a very good team.

I'll reserve judgement until the final riders are named.

Agree, it can still be messed up. Hopefully Schlein will be announced next.

Surely the Bees must be looking for JK to return ?

Horton did say Kylmakorpi was one of his favourite riders so.......

3 out of the 4 (King probably drop a little) can improve their starting average, not many sides will have 3 from 7.

That's a good point and good luck to Coventry but what you'll be lacking is a true Number 1. Kylmakorpi isn't one but him rather than Garrity is a must.

King was 8th in the EL averages last season probably upto 5th for 2017 considering some will not be in Britain in 2017. That makes him a number one especially with the league being weaker. Kylmakorpi and Bjerre would be terrific back up, both can push him for the number 1 spot.

Lasse Bjerre is value on that average – I think that for reason or another the last few seasons have been troublesome for him, injuries and not entirely convinced he has ever been settled at Redcar. I expect him to be a more confident rider this year racing on a Sheffield track where he performs well, and now in a team with his brother. He feels better value than a few PL riders who are moving up, I include the likes of Robson, Bellego and probably even Holder in that.

When the rules were announced and I looked at the PL averages I was shocked he was that low. Coventry should see the benefit on that average.

Fair point, but I doubt that Danny rode many heat 13s & 15s this year and I can't see him winning crucial races, especially if an away team gets an 8-1 in heat 11 or 12. Having said that, the Bees should have good strength in depth.

While I agree with that, we can only judge so far on what we have an IMO, it's very good, close to excellent. I think it would take a massive cock up now to mess this team up. Even the rumoured Garrity/Kerr/Sarj wouldn't be terrible.

He rode a fair few and had a pretty good record in heats 15 the last 2 season, something he always struggled with before signing for the Bees.
