Coventry 2017

Recommended Posts

Rumours still suggest that Mick is not Mr Innocent in all this. If a man who had a reputation for owing people money would you idly wait when he owed you money or would you do something now while you can? Bit extreme maybe but if the other person paid people properly....

Anyway, good news is that it shouldn't be an issue in 2017.

Exactly Shawn it's rumours. I suggest the rumours are wrong which has been the case since this has gone on and every winter before hand. Some seem to have a certain agenda and make stuff up constantly, I don't need to name people. Even IF Horton did owe money he has secured the stadium for hopefully 3 years, we owe him some (from me a lot) gratitude for that

Get into bed with a snake , you're going to get bitten, Mick Horton better watch out .

Needs the stox to run the stadium though. It has to be mutually beneficial

Why would Mick owe money? Coventry Speedway might.....

I can't be doing with all these rumours. Coventry Speedway Limited, owners of Coventry Stadium, Leicester Speedway Limited, Beaumont Park....whatever the other company is called. Wake me up when season 2017 starts and I might consider going to watch some Speedway.

Still at it a bit of good news then this site starts all over again Mick Horton owed money years ago etc. Hopefully it's finished get back to Speedway stop all the winging. Save that for the BSPA they are the people who are ruining our sport. Fast track positions being filled by ex international riders etc.

Scrap KK and that would make a cracking PL team.

I live in hope as I've had enough of the Elite League thanks.

So now that Brandon has not been included on the local plan Sandhu is upset that Horton has done a deal to run the stadium for the next 3 years, effectively replacing Sandhu & Heaver. To me it looks as though Horton has stolen a march and given Coventry Speedway the best chance its had in a few years of surviving.

COVENTRY Speedway are pleased to confirm positive talks have been held with regards to future motorsport at Brandon.

Bees owner Mick Horton met with Coventry Racing Club chief Avtar Sandhu this week to reach agreement on the way forward for both speedway and stock car racing at the stadium next year.

As previously reported, the sale of the stadium and the new lease arrangements will lead to certain operational changes, but there is a common desire to make matters work for all concerned – with the ultimate aim of securing a new stadium for both sports.

Horton said: “It’s good news for everyone. Sandhu and I have spoken in detail over arrangements for 2017, and we’ve come to an agreement.

“We both agree that we need to work together, for both speedway and stock car fans, and our goal over the next three years is to work towards a new home. With the support of Rugby Borough Council, that’s our objective.

“I want to hold some kind of Forum in the near future to outline my plans, but the good news is that both ourselves and Coventry Racing Club are happy to work together, and arrangements have been made that suit both parties.

“We can now look at this as a joint venture, a partnership, which will enable us all to go forward, and there’s a real desire to make it work. It’s no good for speedway and no good for stox for us to fall out. If that happens, there’s no future.

“The lease will remain with Coventry Speedway, we have a working arrangement with Coventry Racing Club, and I’d like to add my personal thanks to them.

“It was also obvious from talking to Sandhu that he still has deep affection for the Bees, and he’s desperate to see Coventry get back to the top.”

Speedway resumes at Brandon next Saturday (October 8) with the prestigious Elite League Riders’ Championship, and the club are also working on dates for their remaining National League fixtures against Stoke and Rye House.

So, I was right then...

You would have to double the PL current point limit for the above team to fit in that league.

Most of them would be PL heatleaders.

That's a shame.

Being realistic what rider(s) would you like to see riding for us in 2017? For me would love Fricke to ride at Brandon every week instead of him watching in the pits. This one will maybe shock a few but Wozniak impressed me on his last visit at Brandon.

King, Garrity and Fricke are riders I hope are in bees colours next year. If they can sort it so not as many fixture clashes then I would like Kaspazak at number one as he was great to watch this year.

I would be happy with Kylmakorpi, Zengota, Palm Toft. Nicholls back with the bees would be good.

NO Ben Barker!!
