stevebrum
And once again because it's Steve Shovlar people go mad. He's done something honest in not knowing his left from right and actually went out of his way to check out the stadium for himself. All he'd done is said what he'd seen. The only people not adding to the thread are the posters reacting wrongly (yet again) to Shovlar's visual update. He didn't go out of his way, he was in the area. Different thing. There is nothing to report, which is what he reported. No point going overboard about a comment from someone who saw nothing. I might have been more impressed if he reported that Sandhu and Horton meet him there to give personal updates. I'm in the Coventry area this weekend. But I assume if I went I'd see nothing as well. Contractors have definitely been in and tidied the place up since Sandhu handed the keys back. There were transit vans there just before new year so I guess they were there for that. I wonder who paid for the clean up?

Woz01
We were told in 2014 that Investin Brandon Ltd bought Brandon Stadium and they were the company that had their name splashed all over the development plans when they were shown at the village hall. Recently we've been told Brandon Estates (Jersey) bought the site late 2015 which incidentally was around the same time Brandon Estates ltd (based in Sutton Coldfield) was dissolved. Coincidence? Also there is a company called SSB Homes which had as it's address Brandon Stadium which has since changed it address to Long Acre trading estate, Sandhu list some of his businesses there. Sandhu isn't listed as a director but is a shareholder, his family are listed as directors however. Maybe a coincidence but they list their assets at 2.6m, fits in with around the price of Brandon. SSB Homes specialise in the development and design of residential property. It's all very dodgy if you ask me and questions need to be asked. Ironic that Shov loves nothing better than a bit of criticism or ridicule when it comes to all things Coventry. I was being a tad sarcastic. But it has been widely reported by locals and local press that nothing has happened since 1st Jan so i think we knew that answer anyway. double_O
Apparently there is an article in today's Coventry Telegraph written by Bees press officer David Rowe. Has anyone seen it, it's not online as yet. Just a personal comment by Dave going over the deals/non signing/disagreements pretty much highlighted over the last 2 months. He then says that "reports of the stadiums demise are premature and it can be ready by mid-March. Major items to address include the main Grandstand to H&S standard, while new floodlighting is required although the pylons which previously lay across the greyhound track have now been removed. Shale from the track sits on the infield but the circuit itself is in better condition than winters ago when plans to run a festive speedway meeting had to be shelved due to poor weather and the track issues continued into the season. The Armco barrier remains in place - speedway fences are removed several times a year for the Stox - while the pits and ancillary buildings remain unchanged as do indoor and outdoor toilets. The only realistic hope for carrying out repairs is with Sandhu, as without his involvement the stadium will not run its major monthly stock car events ( stock car promoters effectively own their own dates and can take meetings elsewhere) and would be highly unlikely to be viable with around 20 speedway meetings. Meanwhile Bees have signed a team for the season, but none of those riders or supporters know whether they will have a stadium to race in" I do admire his veiled optimism but this is Sandhu/Horton/Brandon Estates we are talking about, and as I have said before they have zero interest in the club, fans or riders, just their own pitiful interest in one-upmanship.

So in other words we are doomed because Sandu has now 'moved on'. For the sake of the riders signed and the long suffering fans please could the Coventry promotion put us all out of our misery, make a statement and not drag it on any longer.
Dornier
Can`t see us running this season, well not at Brandon.
Steve Shovlar
Can`t see us running this season, well not at Brandon. Wouldn't give up yet, but the fans should really be kept in the loop. So why did workmen go into Brandon between Christmas and New Year to tidy up? Did Sandhu send them in, realising the vandalism caused looked very bad and a tidy up might not look so bad if it came to court? If the place now has no floodlights, how can speedway run? New lighting would cost a small fortune. I suppose lighting can be brought in every week and powered from centre green generators but hiring is not cheap, especially with the amount of light required to light up the speedway track to an acceptable level. In terms of lighting, led floods although not cheap are available and with lower running costs not so much a small fortune.
Gemini
Only my opinion of course but I think it was all over on November 30th and I have been pessimistic about the outcome since then. I feel really sorry for the longstanding fans who have been kept in the dark and have no idea what is happening. I first started to support Coventry in 1984 so not so long as some and I have always got Leicester just a few miles up the road if I want to watch some Speedway but for others it will probably be the end and a few hundred more lost to the sport. Okay someone cheer me up.

Okay someone cheer me up. Didn't realise just how close the two tracks are. I drove past the turning for Beaumont Leys and 25 minutes later I was outside Brandon. If Coventry don't run Leicester is very close to watch some racing. Clearly it won't be the same but better than nothing. Trouble is that its not the same as watching your own club though you could support the oppostion. In the whole I have always looked forward to my trips to Brandon due to the quite intense rivalry and this will be sorely missed if Coventry don't run. packerman
Good luck with the fight to keep the Bees going. You are lucky in the fact you have options of going elsewhere if it were Poole to close down I'd really have to think about giving up altogether as our nearest is Swindon that is 2 hours away with good traffic, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone not following there chosen team.
