naffer
Friday December 23, 2016 THE promotion and management of Coventry Speedway would like to wish all of our supporters a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. We understand the concerns over a lack of official club updates over recent weeks regarding future plans - the position is a complex one which involves continual intensive negotiations; however, we remain committed that the club will be on-track in the 2017 season. Our best wishes for the festive season, and as soon as there is genuine news to report we will do so. Woz01
the way this works is that you need to get into the local plan which is updated every three years, they have not requested or indeed been accepted into the latest three year plan, so i suspect this is where the timescales has come from I think the local plan is longer than that. I'm quite sure Cllr Stokes has said the initial plans from Brandon Estates would fail any application due to planning laws. Gert Handbag
Has anyone been on the Jersey Companies Registry site and ordered the Brandon Estates 2016 Annual Return? https://www.jerseyfsc.org/registry/documentsearch/NameDetail.aspx?Id=300208 Would be interesting to see who the directors and shareholders are, and if any of them have the name Sandhu. I deal a lot with offshore companies - they are offshore for a reason, and not necessarily good reasons. Also the ownership is likely to be via a complex trust arrangement. The "Beneficial Owners" do not need to be the registered directors, and the directors can be "nominees". I'm not saying that this is the case here, because I haven't researched the company, but it is very easy to hide yourself from public registers. If you were committed to hide your identity, it would be very easy to do it via an offshore company with a nominee structure.

abbo
To comment on what GH said I think Councillor Stokes made the same comment at the Save our Speedway meeting at Warwick University. Guest
I fully understand that sadly there is nothing positive at the moment in regard to Brandon Stadium, especially in regard to Coventry speedway. But co-tenants Startrax Motorsports, who are involved with the stock car promotions at Brandon Stadium are optimistic enough to list the venue in its 2017 fixture list. http://startrax.info/Meetings/Fixtures
Gemini
Means nothing really. Coventry have named their 7 riders for 2017 but it still doesn't 100% guarantee they'll be at the tapes on the Brandon track in March.
INCOGNITO
Think a move to Beaumont Park is looking more and more likely at the present time. So it could be Leicester Bees and Belle Vue Storm which is some change since close season. Shame
SteveLyric2
I think that's the least-likely option!!!!!

I do understand Gemini that the fact Startrax have included car racing dates for 2017 in their fixture list does not mean there will be racing at Brandon Stadium in 2017. On he other hand, it perhaps reflects that they have optimism for the future at the track?

B.V 72
Its the riders I feel sorry for I would tell Horton to go fk himself and find another team Why the riders if the worst thing happens the riders will at some stage find another club be it here or abroad. Its the fans that you should be sorry for because they can never replace their club.
mdmc82
With all the Championship teams now complete, it appears that Sarjeant will only have racing with Coventry in 2017 which makes his inclusion in the team even more of a risk That's if we see any speedway next year Edited December 29, 2016 by mdmc82

James may be rather ''fond'' of the tapes but he is very professional and committed to his racing. I believe he has a future and hope he gets the chance to prove himself. He by no means is a 'here today gone tomorrow' sort of racer.

Bang on the money , Sarj is a proper speedway rider ,who came through the proper channels , speedway family , amateur meetings .national League ,premier league and now Elite , as it should be , not some Journeyman middle order NL rider .who came to speedway from MX,BMX, or skateboarding , with a big reputation , big head and big ego, and who has never lived up to his own hype ..
nbaynes
How can it be that an English rider like Sarj cannot get a place in the Championship. Something wrong somewhere.

How do you know he wanted one? He may be satisfied with his place in a top league side, and not wish to ride at the lower level.
Woz01
Changes are made at Championship level all the time so I'd be surprised if James doesn't get a spot at some point. Gives him an incentive to have a good start to the season.
