beesboybert
I too am sceptical about the move working, however, it has at least given us a chance. As I'd said before, the cost of leasing the facilities and track, weighed in with a potentially reduced crowd doesn't make sense if it's only a short term measure. I appreciate that they would be running at a loss if they were to ride away meetings only at the start of the year, but they would then make up for it later in the season, with regular crowds at Brandon. I personally feel that this news isnt yet cause to celebrate. We need a stated plan/timeline on how we'll get back to Brandon, without that, there could be fans that drift away
sancho
According to the statement on the BSPA website there is no agreement to go back to Brandon Horton said: “We had to find a solution which enabled the club to survive whilst the negotiations continue to bring us back to Coventry. Fromafar
feel sorry for Coventry fans, think it would be short odds regarding Coventry seeing out the season giving what's been going on.Horton is just a wide boy IMO .
weatherwatcher
The view of of track from anywhere in the stadium at BP is second to none. No matter where you stand you have a great view of the track. I am stuck in a wheelchair, even I can see no matter where I sit. They even have a dedicated area between the 2 stands for people in wheelchairs, great view, if you don't mind being hit by the shale, but at least there is plenty of shale on the track, I just hope that before the racing starts that the work need on bends 1/2 gets done, it would be a shame to not get it finished. Ok the facilities are a bit lacking, can't for the life of me see when you had a open book to work with, they ended up doing the bare minimum, and sqeezing the stadium into so small a space. I am sure they could have got the council to have given them a few more yards behind where the stands are. Hope to see the Bees fans on the treraces come the start of the season. I can now choose between 2 clubs to follow, just for a short time until you return home, which I think you will.
robert72
Our entrance fee went up to £18 last year, the justification bring that it was what Coventry and wolves were charging..... According to DH. It's simply too expensive and not value for money anymore it should be priced at £10-12 max

TMW
It's simply too expensive and not value for money anymore it should be priced at £10-12 max that wouldn't pay for Doyley's signing on fee. Just so long as you don't expect GP standard meetings for NL admission then fair play. Even non-league football is 20 I believe
stevebrum
It's simply too expensive and not value for money anymore it should be priced at £10-12 max NL is priced at that sort of price. If people want to pay that sort of price to watch speedway they can. Prices go up, never down.

Indeed, the quality of the facility only goes to highlight just how much of a shame it is that the shape of the circuit is so poor.

Crazy robin said the same thing, i advised him to write to every premiership club, with his name and address enclosed. Write one copy the rest . But i do feel that clubs could do more at Easter and during the summer holidays.. Edited January 30, 2017 by Starman2006

Gemini
...................weatherwatcher.................I am stuck in a wheelchair, even I can see no matter where I sit. Now that surprises me that you can be hit by shale between the two stands as they are on the straight. I have to go on the 4th bend with the dog but try to be a bit further round towards the starting gate to avoid any flying shale on the bend, I'm too old now to be dodging shale and missing half of the action hiding behind my programme board.
Popular Post DWP
i've argued this for years but it needs a cut in machine expenses and foreign travel as well as (unfortunately) paying riders less - the first may happen but the other two.... I'm not disagreeing with you. I look after a Danish rider who lives in UK. This coming season basics costs are 6 bikes, 6 engines, 3 vans to do UK, Poland and Sweden/Denmark. He is fortunate he has teams in all these countries, most riders are reliant on one or two UK leagues. Add in about 60 flights, hotels etc. Servicing of engines cost a fortune and is required after 25 races. Ignition goes on a bike that's another £600. I won't go into costs of a blown engine. Everything on a speedway bike costs a fortune, it's specialist equipment so manufacturing costs are high. Thankfully a bit of sponsorship helps. But at the end of day there is not much left personally for him. And that's if he gets paid by all his teams. I've jokingly told him financially you would be better off getting a real job but it's something he loves and racing is in his blood. So paying riders less is not the answer. They are not footballers running a round chasing a ball a couple times a week for obscene amounts of money. In the old days riders riders turned up with an old bike on the back of car. If today's riders did that, the promoter would soon ask where 2nd bike was and would probably sack him. So today each rider has to have 2 bikes and all the equipment which goes with it. In defence of promoters, they need £17/18 a person. I'm not going to tell you what my rider gets per point in each country. But as an example in the UK, take a guess of what the cost of 7 riders scoring 48 points in a meeting. Then take crowd size x by £17. After stadium costs, staff, electricity etc. Very little profit if any to the promoter. Costs to riders and to promoters are frighteningly high. Sadly it's something that won't change, it's the world we live in. We all know if your boiler breaks down, something goes wrong with your car and we all think or say when quoted "how much" !! Sad fact is speedway as had its head in the sand for too many years. Promoters have not marketed the sport. Look how down football was at time of Heysel, Bradford, Hillsborough. Marketing of the sport brought in sponsors, TV etc. This is what speedway needs to do. I do know Buster is dealing with this. But it doesn't get solved in 10 minutes. Fans need to keep supporting their teams, but fans need to help the sport to. Persuade friends to go with you. We need to start talking up the sport not keep knocking it down. This winter could have been disastrous, but Belle Vue, Coventry and Leicester are all running in 2017. Perhaps not in ideal situations, especially for you Coventry fans. I hope you are soon back at Brandon. But there are lot of people putting in many hours of work to solve these problems and take the sport forward. Speedway I think is at its lowest ebb, but talking to Buster personally, there are so many good and exciting things on the horizon. Speedway can only go up, you might not agree with me, but I assure with the work being done and if you the fans do your little bit to, we will all see the benefits. Wow this started as a quick comment and ends up as War and Peace lol

Danny Connor
Great comment. Good insight into things d w p If people always dwell on the negatives then they will be magnified to an extent the positives get overlooked. it's a great sport and that's why we all go Hopefully everything that has gone on at Coventry will fast track the search for a new site. That is of importance because Coventrys future is extremely short without a new stadium. Doesn't have to be state of the art. All the pleasantries can come in time. But surely the ball is rolling in terms of long term. Any news on that front.
