Newcastle V Redcar Premier League 31 July 2016 At 6.30pm

I enjoyed the match. The fastest times are often in heat 1 and with Ruthless returning to number 1, will someone tell him he could break the track record if the track is right for it and he just keeps winding it on to the flag. With all due respect to our other great riders Robert at 18 is Englands brightest prospect to follow Tai Woffinden on the world stage. He just needs to polish his riding skills and not pull his "Cut Out" if that is what he did. The last time we had an English rider like Robert was 1978 and the then 17 yr old Kenny Carter who should have won the world championship.

The Dynamic Duo Ludde and Matej were great too. The captain is having his best ever season and is briiliant to watch and so is Matej. If there is a better pair at 3 and 4 in the league who are they!

Our other Swede Victor has proved to be a good replacement for Tero Aarnio, he's so good he should keep his place for the rest of the season.

So who has the best riders at 1 to 5 is it us or Glasgow?

Too close to call case can be made for both on any given day it could be us on another day it could be the Diamonds but the best 1-5 in the league at the minute are Somerset by a big distance in my opinion.

I wouldn't say Somerset are a big distance ahead. Newcastle only lost by 4 there in the league and may well have won had Worrall been riding.

The Diamonds are very strong at home, forgetting the opening challenge match only Glasgow have got anywhere near us at Brough and that was mainly due to the absence of Lambert & Rose. I don't see that changing unless we get injuries. On the road we still have a bit to prove mainly due to not getting the full 1-7 on track enough and perhaps some less consistent displays from one or two but we've generally been good enough for 40+ points everywhere.

I'd still back us over 2 legs against anyone with a full team.

Top Fives

Somerset

1. Josh Grajczonek
2. Bradley Wilson-Dean
3. Charles Wright
4. Paul Starke
5. Rohan Tungate

Glasgow

1. Richard Lawson
2. Fernando Garcia
3. Richie Worrall
4. Rene Bach
5. Aaron Summers

Newcastle
1. Robert Lambert
2. Victor Pavolaara
3. Matej Kus
4. Ludvig Lindgren
5. Steve Worrall

I think Glasgow and Newcastle have the riders to win the end of season honours. Somerset are good but imo not good enough. Newcastle and Glasgow in a head to head would be difficult to call Fernando & Victor are less capable than their team mates but the other riders are all capable of beating each other.
Speedway is unpredictable so at the run in of season 2016 we may be well entertained. I think Glasgow and Newcastle are the pick of the 3 teams and of course as a Diamonds fan I think Newcastle have the best 1-5 riders

As of today, Jake Allen is in the Somerset top 5 and not Bradley Wilson-Dean

I would put us against them over 2 legs or any other team for that matter if we are able to field the full team over 2 legs. More than likely find that out obviously in the next couple of month though.
