cyclone
Surely the fault lies with the BSPA, admittedly Berwick is at fault by ceding to demands from Glasgow and Glasgow is at fault for pressing for a change. When a club assembles a team, it will be fully aware of double up problems with the EL, and is up to them to field a competitive team on the designated race night. The BSPA should force Glasgow to assemble a team on Berwicks normal race night. and should demand that it happens, if the visiting team cannot conform, then all the points go the the home team. Eh - how on earth are Glasgow at fault in any way, as they would have fulfilled the original fixture? It's not as if the original fixture was postponed because of bad weather, and I take it Berwick are only permitted to run one fixture per week, otherwise the original Saturday date could have gone ahead. Did they approach the Local Authorities for permission to run both fixtures, pointing out that TV exposure would be free publicity for the quaint hamlet that is Berwick, and it's "unusual" local citizens

To be fair the only reason it was changed from the Saturday was the Sky fixtures so any doubling up issues would have been worked around when this fixture was scheduled. To fit in a rescheduling date that suits both parties would be difficult but it is hardly Glasgow's fault as Berwick would have approached Glasgow to re-arrange due to the Sky Meeting and as Glasgow would only agree a date that suited them. Nobody really to blame here Berwick wanting a clear weekend for there Monday sky fixture & Glasgow wanting to field a full strength septet on a date that suits that to happen.
Fromafar
You would have to ask elsewhere. Berwick offered several dates, Glasgow could accept. Where the visiting team's riders are isn't really Bandits' biz.Surely Glasgow have to accept one of the dates offered if it is the other Clubs race day .No wonder the fixtures don't get completed in time.Everything get crammed into the last month of the season.Promotions complain they can't advertise fixtures because of the congestion ,weather becomes an issue and the sport struggles along!! topsoil
Looking forward to this one for a few reasons. I've got a soft spot for Glasgow, especially their fans who still came in numbers a few years ago, when the club was on the brink and looking down and out. Always had a good crack with them in the local pubs beforehand. I'm also impressed what the promotion has done with the stadium and marketing the sport up there. Also looking forward to the new signing to see what he can do. Obviously will take a few races to get used to Shielfield. If this meeting is anything like the League Cup match we are in for a cracker. Pity it's not a Saturday night, because no doubt there would have been a bigger turn out, but that's the way it goes.

Their seems to be an implication here that Glasgow are to blame for Berwicks greed in accepting a financially lucrative fixture from Sky. As a previous poster pointed out hopefully Berwick will come out of it okay, with gains from one meeting offsetting the loss from the other financially. Unfortunately the real lossers here are the unable to make it traveling supporters. Incidentally, think Berwick will win this one as long as Dawid hits the ground running

Iam certainly not blaming Glasgow it's just the state of the sport these days.A previous post from Crescent Girl is even saying Berwick would not go to Glasgow unless it suited.Doubling Up/Down is totally out of control now IMO .Speedway used to be weekly during the summer months at your local track now its when it suits and fans just find other things to do and drift away from the sport because of the confusion regarding fixtures.Looks like taking the Sky meeting was the crux of the matter.I will be there on Wed should be a decent meeting and could be tricky for the Bandits.

The only beneficiaries of the doubling up/down arrangement are the riders, IMHO it either needs to stop, or each league needs to have a fixed race night, and we all know how unlikely that is to happen as long as speedway clubs don't own their own stadiums, but that's another issue. damosuzuki
Don't see how it's such a massive deal. Better to get the fixture done and dusted rather than wait until the autumn. A shame some can't make it but I'm sure there'll be a good crowd.

stewmac
Well, I, along with three other Edinburgh fans will be there cheering on the Bandits. We don't normally attend, so that's a few extras £££s in the coffers of Berwick. Hope the Tiggers get stuffed.

SharpenRake
Good to see both teams with there own riders and no r/r - see it can be done. can't help thinking Berwick are now stronger than when they started the season, as are redcar who we meet on Thursday - the luck of the draw! Anyway hope we get a point but not so sure particularly after bandits performance in the 4s on Saturday

screm
Berwick and Glasgow produced a very decent meeting earlier in the season, no reason why that wont be repeated this Wednesday. Berwick could do with a win to get back into the play off shake up, and a win would keep Glasgow within striking distance.
Normski
Spoke to a few Glasgow fans at Wetherby services last night and they were of the opinion travelling support would be well down compared to a Saturday meeting. A few Berwick fans I know are also missing this meeting due to work commitments, holidays etc. Berwick had a blank Saturday on May 21st but filled it with a behind close doors practice, when maybe they could have had Glasgow that night or Workington in the Border Trophy as at the time Comets had no fixture that night and eventually put together a pairs meeting. Sadly won't make the meeting myself on Wednesday so wish both teams a safe meeting also good luck to our new signing Dawid Stachyra

The pairs and Cardiff followed by the 2 day 4's especially the travelling costs must eventually hit even the most loyal fan.

If I hadn't already paid for my flight up and train home I'd probably have to give the Rockets Northern tour a miss next week
