Star Lady
Whether or not that addresses the problem really depends on the nature of the disability. Not all wheelchair users are disabled and not all disabled people use wheelchairs. That is an overly simplistic take on the situation. I am well aware that not all wheelchair users are blue badge holders and not all blue badge holders are wheelchair users. 14 years in the NHS the last 10 in the Ambulance Service taught me that (not that I didn't already know). As the main carer for a wheelchair user for 30+ years I can honestly say I have never turned up at a venue without first researching access and parking facilities first and have always done so well in advance. It is simplistic (if you don't mind me using your word) to expect every/any venue to provide enough disabled parking provision in close proximity to a venue. If such spaces are essential I would have thought advance planing would be part of life It's not ideal but then we don't live in an ideal world whether disabled or able bodied. AFAIK Cardiff does not have disabled parking close to the Principality Stadium, at least I never saw it in my 6-7 visits (tho it was called the Millenium Stadium then ) Maybe after your visit you could go to http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=35784&hl=%2Bdisabled+%2Baccess and post your findings and I will update the post containing details of all tracks (apart from new ones) If anyone from the tracks that are not covered wishes me to include their track I'm quite happy to do the same just send me a pm when you have posted details. That way all the information will be in one place. Hope you enjoy your visit to the National Speedway Stadium Edited July 28, 2016 by Star Lady

Steve Shovlar
Thanks - but watching at home on the television now. I am sorry but no one to blame but yourself. You simply left it too late and are blaming everyone but you should look at yourself for leaving it so late. Only an ignoramus would do such a thing. Common sense would have been to book the parking the same time as the tickets. Edited July 28, 2016 by Steve Shovlar

Steve Shovlar
And you are still an ignoramus. Lol! Why not drop the tickets off at the stadium? There will be fans desperate for them and you could get your money back. Edited July 28, 2016 by Steve Shovlar
Steve Shovlar
What part of "For more information contact the stadium" didn't you understand before spending your £70? Getting all your shyt in a pile in good time doesn't make you 'learned'. Its like say I want tickets for Saturday but they have sold out. How very dare they!!! dazzafl
Of course they do - which is why disabled folk, more than most, will inform themselves, before they even commit to going to an event, that provisions such as parking will be available for them. I was informed back in December 2015 that parking would not be an issue and on that basis I booked my ticket. At no point since has anybody contacted me to inform me otherwise. As they have both my e-mail and home address details, this would not have been a difficult or costly exercise once they became aware that it would potentially be an issue. why dont you speak to a business close by like the leisure centre to see if you can park there as there is no more disabled parking at the venue ?? you really cannot expect them to contact disabled people when spaces are getting low or indeed make more as they trully dont know how many people are coming.. and i am sure they have far more pressing things to be getting on with.. i would have thought once ordering and paying for your ticket you would have booked parking at the same time.. hindsight is a wonderful thing but you must have known this was going to be a sell out and thought ahead.. its like people booking their hotel for the cardiff GP now for next year if they expect to ring the day before and get a room tough luck.. you dont see people moaning about that.. well i havent
Star Lady
I'm still slightly bemused by why low floor easy access buses are such an issue. Pretty sure the Eithiad will have disabled parking spaces and I've never had a problem getting on and off such vehicles (even when as occasionally happens the suspension thingy fails and won't go down). The drivers have always be helpful and I know from experience that speedway fans are only too happy to help. But hey if you prefer your sofa, so be it.
TheCookster
. i would have thought once ordering and paying for your ticket you would have booked parking at the same time.. Very fair point ... and that is exactly what I would have done, if that facility had been available / required at the time.
Steve Shovlar
Nearly as bad as not organising your curry 'till last night, lol!But doubt the curry houses are a sellout at 11pm. Lol! Very fair point ... and that is exactly what I would have done, if that facility had been available / required at the time. i am sure that facility would have been available at the time had you persued it. Did you phone the BSS and ask for disabled car parking when you booked your tickets? Others clearly did and got spaces. Even last Thursday I phoned the stadium and got parking right next door. The tickets came on Monday. Lets be honest here you left it too late and are ranting because you are annoyed with yourself for not sorting it earlier. dazzafl
Very fair point ... and that is exactly what I would have done, if that facility had been available / required at the time. you just need to be honest with yourself and say you booked too late.. its not a shameful thing and to be honest i would probably feel the same but then ask what i can do to get parking close by.. you havent mentioned how disabled you are and if anyone is coming with you.. if you are not travelling alone maybe suggest someone drops you off at the stadium then goes to the park and ride to park up.. so many options but complaining about something you cant change is a touch unfair on the stadium which i am sure have done their best to give everyone visiting a chance to park and given them an option to park else where..

It's not often you get a chance to agree with Shovvy, so I thought I'd take the opportunity here. I've seen the disabled facilities in action at Belle Vue and they're excellent (like all new built stadia have to be now). Close parking, flat access, lifts, stairlifts, everything....and what a nice touch that one of the people looking after the hospitality is Garry Stead. Now onto the SWC... it's been quite obvious for some time that it will be a sell out. I bought my tickets at christmas and made my travel plans weeks ago. If it's a sell out, it's a sell out. It doesn't matter if 9,000 of the 10,000 tickets have disabled access...if you leave it too late and they've all gone, it's too late. If you're the 10,001st person wanting a ticket, then tough - you should have sorted yourself out earlier. If there's 2,000 disabled parking spaces, it's no use being 2,001. If there's only 5 spaces, it's no use being No.
