Najjer
Benefitted from being in a good Rebels team, plenty of time to come good, and as you said very young. My spies tell me his equipment sometimes is not up to it , not sure. I had heard the complete opposite - that his kit is immaculate, as for 3 and 3/4 laps he is usually right on the pace but he almost looks afraid in the first turn. We were saying the other week, he reminds us of Tom Perry when he first rode for us. I was expecting him to average 4 at least though. I'm not sure he's even averaging 2.00? SomersetBlue
What was up with Wright last night? Starke came to the party but seemed Wright didn't. Wasn't there as in brum to go to the fours today

Having seen him a couple of times at Lynn he seems a bit too 'safe' if you see what I mean, a bit like Max Clegg. Too keen to stick it round the inside in a neat and tidy fashion rather than go for it a bit more. Plenty of time left in his career to develop a bit more belief in himself and come good, the talent is certainly there.

Gresham
Wright has big engine issues for the last couple of months, cant get to the route of the problem but no lack of trying Agreed...must be frustrating. Same goes for BWD...makes the gate then struggles to keep out front, or gets in good positions to pass, but just doesn't have the speed to pass...again must be really frustrating. I would have put Allen in the Fours instead of Wright to give the lad a break...Allens on fire atm.
EnglishRoundabout
Excellent racing last night. Credit to Workington who provided Rebels with a stern test. It's a long time since Somerset needed to deploy the black and white helmet in a match at the OTA, and even then before heat 7. The Comets riders 1-7 had their gating gloves on and looked fired up from the start. Roared on by a small band of their loyal fans, there was definitely some tension in the air. Compton was hard but fair on Wright, Wells looked smooth and stylish and Jensen and Hansen looked a threatening partnership early on. Zack lacked some conviction entering the first bend and seemed to get muscled out. Starkey and Wrighty looked generally down on power. Wilson-Dean continued to struggle with the speed in his engine and his frustration boiled over with an unnecessary confrontation with the start Marshall. Eventually the Rebels began to fire. Some super passes by Gracjzonek, Starke and Allen, supported to rapid Tungate and what looked like a really tricky second half to the meeting became a comfortable home win. Once again, a well prepared track produced some super races with numerous passing. Rebels fans are being royally entertained this season.

Totally agree with you about BWD regarding the start line confrontation, anyone would think he was Ivan Mauger!!
womble53
I would have put Allen in the Fours instead of Wright to give the lad a break...Allens on fire atm. Almost certain he wasn't eligible to get into the five (top 4 plus reserve) for the event. As Wright was in the top four of the team's averages, and at the time the teams had to be declared, BWD was above Jake in the official Greensheets, putting him in the reserve spot. Pretty certain that was the way the rules were framed for the team make up. Now that Charles has been withdrawn due to an ankle injury he picked up last night, BWD moves up into the top 4 to replace Charles, and Jake moves up to reserve for the meeting. Another ridiculous and over complicated process in speedway rules - why not just let teams choose the 5 riders that they wish and have done with it? EnglishRoundabout
I missed that...what happened? I was stood on first bend so missed it. Prior to the race starting, BWD took exception to the start marshal's direction to where his front wheel should line up. He was clearly incensed at that point. At the conclusion of the race, BWD rode back to the start gate, got off of his machine and engaged in an animated dispute with the marshal. He had to be encouraged to leave the area by track officials.

It's your top 4 plus your 5th highest as reserve, if you have an injury everyone below moves up one.

Didn't matter that the white line on the track for Brad's gate wasn't in line with the vertical piece of tape on the starting tapes, making his gate smaller than the other three! Guessing you're not a fan of BWD...any reason for that fella? I find him great to watch and he's keen as mustard to race and get stuck in. Didn't matter that the white line on the track for Brad's gate wasn't in line with the vertical piece of tape on the starting tapes, making his gate smaller than the other three! I was watching the tapes last night. Stood pretty much directly in front of them, apex of first bend. It was really noticeable how loose they were. The middle of the tapes, seemed to hang there way much longer than normal when being released.
