OveFundinFan
Watched that a few times on Youtube over the last couple years, fantastic race, PC at his very best, and Egons not bad either!
waiheke1
Good race for sure. I know briggo suggested that maybe pc wasn't as hard as other great world champs, but certainly showed egon no mercy. How about putting all these links on one thread, rather than a separate thread for each?

waiheke1
Awful meeting, though it was my first trip to see an overseas meeting so have fond memories of it. Egon was immense.
fatface
Awful meeting, though it was my first trip to see an overseas meeting so have fond memories of it. Egon was immense. Me too! I've never seen it since then, but there was a memorable clip of Kenny Carter being interviewed at the 1983 final where he said: "Ole Olsen's one of fastest riders in world and e's just gone past him likes he's dropped a chain. He's makin' us all look stoopid! Get your cameras on that bike!" :-) Fantastic clip of Muller and PC. Towards the end of his career that was the one that PC really wanted and you can see it in that very clip. Brilliant commentary by Dave Lanning too. moxey63
Longtrack used to leave me feeling cold. But out of the continuous winter... there's that PC v Muller race. Still remember it... it brings the coalfire glow into my heart. Edited July 26, 2016 by moxey63
OveFundinFan
m a bit like you Moxey63, long track can be processional, made better by there usually being 6 man races, and of cours when a top rider gates poorly (ie Peter Collins) then it could be all action.
Terry
The only Longtrack final I can remember was Michael Lee's win with Dave Lanning saying, "he looks like a flying hairpin!"
cityrebel
I went to the 1984 long track final at herxheim. It poured with rain the night before the meeting. I can remember the emergency services doing a fantastic job, pumping the water off the track to ensure the final could go ahead.
