Ipswich Witches V Peterborough Panthers Pl 21-7-16@7-30pm

Recommended Posts

Certainly produce some good racing last night. The Panthers riders appeared to be struggling with the grip/dirt early in the meeting.

Even Nico on his moped managed a pass, but that was only after he'd seen Morten fly around the outside the previous lap.

There's been plenty of moaning about the racing recently, but when it was good last night, that hardly gets a mention, except for a couple of posts.

Come on peeps, if you're going to whinge when it's crap, then say something positive when it's good.

OK - there were a fair number of passes last night.

And as you say even Mr. Risager went outside someone.

I think Ippo were letting Pathetic Panthers make the starts a few times just to get some overtaking practice.

Well I openly admit to moaning about the usual lack of overtaking, last night was better but probably more down to the fact that the Panthers were predominantly pretty slow. Let's be honest here Morten is not exactly renowned for his outside line passes is he?

Maybe if the updater was let in free then he/she would be able to find the time and have access to do such a thing...

But as it is, updating between heats, watching next heat (and repeat) is more than enough for a paying customer!

Oh and finding the time to eat sweets and ring bells and blow whistles!

I get around it by just not mentioning the track. Ok, maybe it's a bit cowards way but it certainly makes it less stressful the following week (been there, done that, had the nagged earhole).

Or if someone is really pushing for an answer, I find sarcasm works quite well or reverting to the female stereotype idea of not knowing a blasted thing about bikes or tracks (even though I am an ex biker who does know a fair bit!)

I see Baldyman has been taken to task by Young Mr. Louis in his programme notes by describing the track as "slick as usual" during the match against Berwick!!

Mr. Louis discusses the description of "slick".

In his opinion that would mean that the racing was slow whereas Mr. D. King put in the fastest time of the season at 0.2 outside the time set by the Fabulous Cookie Monster last year.

(Just to jog your memories, it was on 16th July and came in Cookie's second race whilst riding at number 5, so actually in heat 6 - beating said Mr. D. King from behind - a feat he repeated in heat 13 but that took a lap and a half - and followed up by yet another win against Mr. D. King in heat 15) whilst on his way to a stroll in the park 15 point maximum )

Mr. Louis also questioned the phrase "as usual" since he had heard the team describe the track as a little too slick a couple of times, but Ippo have taken that on board.

He says that was mainly down to the change in dirt supplier and it has been difficult to get as much grip in the surface without making the track very difficult to ride.

Mr. Louis suggests that perhaps in future an updater should be given the opportunity to talk to any of the riders to get their opinion on track conditions so that an accurate and informed description can be used in future.

And he would be happy with that.

So it sounds like a great opportunity for anyone doing the updates to get down and dirty with a rider of their choice.

All sounds like a good idea.

For what it's worth, I didn't think the track looked slick against the Banditos or the Pathetic Panthers!!

I would be too painfully shy or too overwhelmingly aware that I am a frumpy, over weight middle aged woman with a crutch to speak to any of them!

My online persona sadly doesn't match up to the real life one.

Louis can dress it up anyway he wants, bottom line is the track has been cack this year..

it has been but credit where due that in the last few weeks it has been significantly better.

Too much of a gamble for my liking , when it goes ** up it's another season wasted.

how's he a gamble ??? at the moment bar cookie I wouldn't bet on any panthers riders winning a heat at home (through being inconsistent , oystercard Jacobsen class acts tho can beat anybody on there day ) sometimes you need a 1 trick pony to steady the ship at home
