Here's something...saw the only remaining flying Lancaster bomber take to the skies on its first test flight following a long lay off this afternoon. Absolutely nothing sounds or looks like it. I'm really chuffed. Is that better Starry? Edited to add Should be only one in the UK, there is one in Canada but that's it I think. As far as I know - you are right Star Lady. You are also right that there is nothing like the sound of those Rolls Royce Merlin Engines either. Incidentally, the Canadian Lancaster was over here last year and flew with the one from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (The Spirit of the Ruhr).. I was lucky enough to see them fly together TWK, Thumper and Vera flew alongside the last flying Vulcan (now grounded) over Marham. Only stood in a ruddy onion field for 6 hours with hubby waiting to see them but it's something I will never forget. Have been to Woodhall Spa this weekend to a 40s festival and we had lunch in the Bluebell Inn, which is where the pilots from 617 Squadron used to drink. Be very interesting to know which world champs he beat racing a handful of nl meetings. And would love to see evidence of the posts he claims to have made denying he was rob homer as I certainly don't recall any. I don't know where these false claims are coming from, but I am SPARTACUS. Still, certain people are taking a few wild guesses by other members (and the fact that the only thing they have in common is the number 72) as fact and slagging Rob's career just to score points against Robert72. I spoke with Rob a few days ago and he asked me to point out that he was born Rob Homer, not Robert and has never been a member of this forum. Robert72 even messaged me on here after I posted the confirmation and said he had stated on here that he's not Rob but "people won't listen". I haven't found any posts where he's said that so maybe he could state it on this thread to save Rob being slagged off any further?
