Leicester Lions V Kings Lynn Stars, Now @ 7:30 Sat 22nd October 2016

Recommended Posts

Just had an email back from Leicester speedway. To get a full refund we have to send the original tickets back to the address Mimmo put on here earlier.Really dont like sending originals back but it looks like the only option now.

If you know a friendly post master/mistress pack the tickets in front of her, sign the envelope seal and get him/her to put stamps on and accept it over the counter, filming the whole lot as proof. Stick a note inside to tell them what you have done and say you will be prepared to use it as evidence in the small claims court. To really P them off you could send them recorded delivery or whatever it's called now ;)

I have two options.I paid by c.card so could dispute the transaction or i could send them back by recorded delivery.I think i will do the 2nd option.Or should i do both and get my petrol money back too :P:nono: .No seriously i wont do that.

Just had a look £1.74 guaranteed delivery.I like your idea of recording it all :t:

We sat in car and waited for a decision, just about to go to to ticket office so we were lucky, Mimmo, we will buy your ticket if we are able to go to re-arranged date. Could use another concession if one is going folks.

Ok, the forecast was wrong, the reason why, was the temps were 4c/5c higher than forecast, the high pressure from the south west (Azores High) pushed further north than progged, and reacted with the low pressure from the north west. Where this did battle was a narrow band across the country from west to east, cutting straight through Leicester, which changed the forecast light shower/s into pretty much torrential showers, which we copped x 2!

This was completely unexpected, and even after the worst had passed through, I didn't think at any time it would get offed!!

The track base was sound, and although the first 4, maybe 5 races would have been a bit FTG, and not the best, once the bikes had done those races, a good race track would of developed...

The Kings Lynn boys were not up for it, they really wearn't.. There are certain members of the KL team that hate wet tracks, and one was very vociferous and was totally disinterested in racing, and made it quite clear...

Maybe the Lions riders should have changed, and warmed bikes up, and with not doing this, made the decision to call off easier for the ref...

Another bad day for British Speedway, no doubt, there were riders that had more lucrative meetings today in Poland, and didn't want the hassle of racing a wet track, just wanting to get packed away, and off to the airport..

We spent a lot of time and effort getting rid of surface water and were confident of it being on..

Another case of tail wagging dog, no thoughts for the paying fans..

Really getting disillusioned with speedway now... to the point that I may not return.. I love speedway, love being involved, love getting in and getting dirty.. Love the marshalling at Cardiff, but I am at the tipping point now where I may just give it up as a bad job and find something else to get involved in....

Was at Belle Vue on Friday and our track staff managed to to blade & grade the track and get the meeting on. An excellent meeting it was too. The attitude of the Leicester riders was spot on, with every one of them giving it a go. Reading what went on, that might be where the problem was with KL.

I guess our boys wanted to give themselves every chance of doing their best.

The main thing was that there looked no let up in the rain clouds and more rain was likely. Had there been blue sky overhead I think they would've tried to do something with the track.

What utter nonsense

We rocked up at Belle Vue a couple of weeks back and raced on a completely soaked track with half a team.

The track was no worse at 7.30pm than just after 6.00pm when I arrived. From then onwards very little was done to the track until the riders had walked around and this was a good 45 minutes after I had entered the Stadium.

By today's standards (and bearing in mind there were some notorious wet track dislikers in the King's Lynn team) I could see the meeting was going to be off well before the start so why they keep allowing fans in or let any in to begin with is beyond me.

I think it is politely referred to as a con trick, a.k.a. fraud.

Brings back memories of not being able to get money back at Poole when they were counting it in front of my eyes. Didn't even bother to get a refund at Leicester tonight, closest track to Lynn these days so will make every effort to go back ....

Is that not part of the problem? While people continue to go back, it will continue to happen

According to you,you did d*ck

Self-confessed fool then? But didn't everyone know that already?:party:

How come people are assuming it's Lynn that wanted it called off.As i said earlier was any rider changed, the only one i see was Greaves. If Leicester wanted it on you would have thought all their riders would have got changed to show willing.

I thought the track looked very poor, due to putting loads of water down at 16:30.And when i see the jcb sliding all over the place at the start with 4 huge wheels on it,i thought men on bikes will struggle so i think a good call in the end.Now all i have got to do is get my money back.

Whatever you do i would send copies, what would happen if you sent the originals and they went missing.

What annoys me most is why they couldnt refund last night. We were all close to the above address and all had our tickets on us,it would have saved alot of time and money to do it this way.

I'm afraid the answer to that is pretty obvious. They are relying on people not bothering and just accepting that they aren't going to get a refund. A bit like airlines with long-delayed flights !

If you spend a moment reviewing this website. (The British League racing part anyhow) it is full of stories where fans feel ripped off when attending speedway meetings..

Riders galore missing meetings because of fixture clashes which could be avoided as the tracks go weeks without racing.

Fixtures arranged by teams who actually know their riders are missing so they can bring in 'ringers' as guests

Rules not being followed by teams and refs who seem to 'make it up as they go along'

And meetings getting called off due to all manner of reasons, (all I am sure in the interests of speedway obviously)...

Amazed the sport still has a following given how much the fans have the p1ss taken out of them...

A hardy bunch us Speedway fans arent we? We seem to put up with any half arsed garbage put in front of us, take it lying down and then come back for more...

But, I wonder, for how much longer given, almost daily on here, we discuss another self inflicted balls up by the 'powers that be'...

Sums it all up rather nicely. I demonstrated my commonsense by giving up on this joke of a sport some time ago (first attended at the Firs in the early sixties!!")

I will be sending my tickets back to Leicester by recorded delivery.

And I suggest you also keep a copy of them

I got only my ticket money back from the ill fated Poole hole in the track meeting so don't expect any recorded delivery costs back!

That's all i'm after,i will be happy with that.

I guess our boys wanted to give themselves every chance of doing their best.

The main thing was that there looked no let up in the rain clouds and more rain was likely. Had there been blue sky overhead I think they would've tried to do something with the track.

These couple of showers we had between 5pm and 7.30pm were ultra localised, and isolated, but the second shower was torrential, but by 8pm the sky had cleared to a pleasant evening....

The riders from Kings Lynn did not want to race, not even prepared to give it a go....

I was the lonesome puddle drier after the bowser went off, I stayed out and managed to get rid of 90% of the laying water, sometimes, it's best to keep riders, track staff, management off the track after heavy rain as it doesn't take much to make the track look worse than it is.... and sometimes, once the big puddles are gone, just let mother nature do its stuff for half an hour and re assess the conditions... As I said, the base was sound and would have taken a tyre on it quite well, it would have taken 4 maybe 5 heats to develop a dry line or two, but racing/grading/racing/grading quickly dries even the most saturated shale out!!

I really can't fathom why further track work wasn't carried out/asked for by the ref, and then a delayed start as there was a good crowd in, some had only travelled 10 miles and coulnt understand why we were so wet!! As I said, really really isolated torrential rain that caught us out.

Also, the ref didn't seem that interested either, everyone who should commit 200% to getting a meeting on, apart from the track staff did naff all to get it on, Inc the ref...

Very very, very disheartened by it all..

Roll on the close season, and I have never, never ever thought like this before....
