Leicester Lions V Kings Lynn Stars, Now @ 7:30 Sat 22nd October 2016

He's probably doing his homework ready for school tomorrow

Jeez, I'd forgotten all about his homework, so maybe I'd better apologise to him. Hope his mummy doesn't read the naughty things he's been writing, otherwise it'll be bed without any tea.

It wasn't Machin who was filmed but it was another man who stood beside Dave Darcy at the time of filming . Sadly I can't remember his name.

Was it Alan Jones? I saw him replying to questions.

I've just received the following message via the Messenger service.

Hello Mike, sorry for the confusion. Please send your tickets to Leicester Speedway, 1 The Lions, Beaumont Leys, Leicester, LE4 1DZ. Regards, Linda

I'm afraid I don't know who Linda is.

MartinH.................Bunce, that is what I normally do but the amount of rain caught everyone out, I checked forecasts, apps and not once did it mention heavy rain like they had. The bloke admitted they were flooding the track beforehand as it was so dry prior to the rain. But after that rain at 5ish they should not have started taking people's money that's my biggest anger.

Obviously caught them out as well because the track was being watered at 4.30pm. I agree with you the main objection is the promotion keeping the turnstiles open and letting everyone in when they must have known beforehand the match wasn't going ahead with riders not even changed.

Fred Flange.......What were you doing in the car park, is it a dogging location or something?

He might have better luck a few miles up the road at Groby Pool. :P

Whatever you do i would send copies, what would happen if you sent the originals and they went missing.

What annoys me most is why they couldnt refund last night. We were all close to the above address and all had our tickets on us,it would have saved alot of time and money to do it this way.

That is probably because certain promoters cannot engage their brain before making a decision.

If the cash is at the stadium it can be paid out.

Next the promotion will be complaining about the lack of supporters attending, both home but mainly away.

Couldn't agree more.If they can't get the simple things right what chance have they got when things get a bit more difficult.Talking to several Leicester fans last night and they seem a bit disillusioned the way it is going at the moment with their speedway team. And their crowds are down and this sort of thing will only impact more on that.

Ok, the forecast was wrong, the reason why, was the temps were 4c/5c higher than forecast, the high pressure from the south west (Azores High) pushed further north than progged, and reacted with the low pressure from the north west. Where this did battle was a narrow band across the country from west to east, cutting straight through Leicester, which changed the forecast light shower/s into pretty much torrential showers, which we copped x 2!

This was completely unexpected, and even after the worst had passed through, I didn't think at any time it would get offed!!

The track base was sound, and although the first 4, maybe 5 races would have been a bit FTG, and not the best, once the bikes had done those races, a good race track would of developed...

The Kings Lynn boys were not up for it, they really wearn't.. There are certain members of the KL team that hate wet tracks, and one was very vociferous and was totally disinterested in racing, and made it quite clear...

Maybe the Lions riders should have changed, and warmed bikes up, and with not doing this, made the decision to call off easier for the ref...

Another bad day for British Speedway, no doubt, there were riders that had more lucrative meetings today in Poland, and didn't want the hassle of racing a wet track, just wanting to get packed away, and off to the airport..

We spent a lot of time and effort getting rid of surface water and were confident of it being on..

Another case of tail wagging dog, no thoughts for the paying fans..

Really getting disillusioned with speedway now... to the point that I may not return.. I love speedway, love being involved, love getting in and getting dirty.. Love the marshalling at Cardiff, but I am at the tipping point now where I may just give it up as a bad job and find something else to get involved in....

Morrissey Fan instead of hiding behind a computer how about you come to Kings lynn on Wednesday night for the Swindon meeting and meet Mimmo and myself face to face. Then you can explain to us why you think we are fools.

I'd like to apologise mate, I'm just so passionate about speedway and my emotions got the better of me.

Next time I'm at Leicester, I'll buy you a pint.

I also accept your apology Morrissey Fan, but once the anger has left me, I'll probably return and use my Readmission ticket next season, because the programme says I can, so I'll put it to the test. If it's not honoured next year, then I'll take legal advice.

There are obviously reasons why money can't be refunded on the night (I know some clubs do, but maybe they are breaking the rules), and lets face it, that could lead to violent/armed robberyif the wrong people knew there was substantial cash laying in an office. So I think it's time that either the Leicester promotion, or the BSPA issued an official statement, on the rights andwrongs of what happened last night.

I DON’T THINK Leicester Speedway is any different than any other. I have had similar problems at other tracks.

I fully understand what it is like driving miles to support your team only to have the meeting called off. If you are a home fan then I guess it’s not so bad not getting cash refund. You have the option to attend another meeting (probably the one you were going to anyway). Having said that, it still cost me a tenner in petrol money plus a programme.

It’s the away fans who are the real losers, with perhaps little option to attend another meeting or restaging. In this case they should get a cash refund. The promotion has the money, for god sake just refund it. To avoid damage and ill feeling incidents like this cause surely it is a much better option.

I was actually amazed the meeting was called off. It could have been put back till 8pm to give them time to get the track fit. There is more to it than the track being wet. That has been used as an excuse.

This has just reinforced my view that speedway is run by a bunch of people who haven’t got a clue. If the sport in the uk carries on like this in ten years time it will be finished. And, to be honest they deserve it.

The riders just don't give a toss regarding fans nowadays, everything has to be perfect before the bike comes out of the van..Health and Safety can't beat it .Liecester is an example of new well supported club going down the tubes because of the state the sport is in.

The whole thing is a farce why is it, you pay your money event is called off you can't get a refund its criminal I wouldn't off left there without getting a refund stuff sending tickets into the office for a refund.

I'm afraid you would have had no choice, as they disappeared into the night, with security guards in place.

Just had an email back from Leicester speedway. To get a full refund we have to send the original tickets back to the address Mimmo put on here earlier.Really dont like sending originals back but it looks like the only option now.

If, this season is going to become the norm now regarding rain-offs, abandoned meetings days before based on iffy weather forecasts, then something needs to change...

Get rid of shale, and ride on concrete, with a bit of banking on the turns, and a slight crown on the straights the rain will just run off.

Then they can ride their rocket ships all night and not get dirty..

Speedway in its current state is on suicide watch now, something has to change, or else it will be gone within 5 years as a professional sport..

This is not about the EL but about 2 young lads, that go out at very Lions meeting for a lap or 3. It was great to see that the Tompsons twins came first and Second in the 125cc class young riders final at Berwick last night. Two young stars for the future. That is all depending if there is a future for British speedway. The EL may go, the PL has its problems, but the lads that race in the NL and the lower leagues are the ones who ride for the love of the sport. They will still be racing that is if there are any tracks left to race on, of course.

Gone are the days when blokes got thier bike out of the shed, strapped it to the back of thier car and went off for a nights racing come rain or come shine. It was an amature sport, now the tracks are like billard tables so hard packed that a few spots of rain and the riders want to call the meeting off. The bikes are just to fast and un predictable to ride even on a good night, get a few minutes rain and they stand and shake thier heads and say there is no way we can race on a track like this.

I can remember years ago at Long Eaton, the riders would put a boiler suit over thier leathers and put a full face mask on and ride on a track that would give todays riders a heart attack.

Maybe it is time to go back to the old uprights and put more dirt on the track, then we may get to see more meetings, I doubt it though as riders today are in a different class to what they where years ago, sad to say not for the better. They are wrapped up in ctton woll and will call a meeting off when it could very easily have been staged. There is no thought at all for what happens to the fans, and not many riders out there now give a toss about us. All they care about is getting across the line first and pocketing the money.

All the riders surely love racing, they wouldn't do it if they didn't?

From the Thompson boys to the GP guys, they all want and deserve a safe, berm free, hole free surface to race on.

If you spend a moment reviewing this website. (The British League racing part anyhow) it is full of stories where fans feel ripped off when attending speedway meetings..

Riders galore missing meetings because of fixture clashes which could be avoided as the tracks go weeks without racing.

Fixtures arranged by teams who actually know their riders are missing so they can bring in 'ringers' as guests

Rules not being followed by teams and refs who seem to 'make it up as they go along'

And meetings getting called off due to all manner of reasons, (all I am sure in the interests of speedway obviously)...

Amazed the sport still has a following given how much the fans have the p1ss taken out of them...

A hardy bunch us Speedway fans arent we? We seem to put up with any half arsed garbage put in front of us, take it lying down and then come back for more...

But, I wonder, for how much longer given, almost daily on here, we discuss another self inflicted balls up by the 'powers that be'...
