ruffdiamond
I notice Paul Starke was riding for the rebels tonight when his Elite League team Leicester also in action tonight had Paul down as R/R. Someone whom knows the rules please tell me why he was able to ride in the premier league and not turn out for Leicester as Steve Worrall did for Belle Vue leaving us weakened maybe possibly the same reason as why 'Lightning' wasn't riding for Leicester, maybe asset based,,, well done for pulling a point out of the bag, would of took that all day ,,, was hoping for an upset halfway thru, but glad of a point at the end,,,
Arson fire
Will take that but looks like rr has cost us a win, well done danny phillips.

Steve is a Belle Vue asset. Very good point for the Diamonds taking advantage of a number of falls and retirements for the home side. Could have been better had Lambert started like he finished or Kus finished like he started! Â Nice to see Danny back amongst the points at the unlikeliest of venues.
jackofdiamonds
Starke must be on contract with Somerset, so they have priority. It's the same with Ludvig for us. Stevie of course is a Belle Vue asset Decent result tonight, but again we lose out. Only 4 points from r/r. Stevie would have scored a lot more,

drew2
Paul Starkr is indeed a Somerset asset. but after the luck he had tonight probably wished he was at Belle Vue instead! Phillips got away with a flier in heat 2 but then rode a steady race to win but then was 'gifted' his paid win when Starkey fell (due to mechanical issues i think) when way way clear at the end of lap two and it was awarded, despite Zach chasing him. Big Diamond
Shame about r/r possibly cost us the win which sums up the season, but still excellent point which i didn't expect considering Somerset fantastic season so far. The extra point could be vital end of season,it also shows if we make playoffs we are real threat competitive away and strong at home just hope missing riders and called off meetings don't cost us. Also well done Danny he may have got lucky but need to be in position to take advantage he obviously was hopefully gives him confidence boost.

Really impressed with the Diamonds tonignt they deserved a point . However the r/r for Worrall was probably cancelled out by the bad luck the Rebels incurred tonight -lots of points lost from point scoring positions through rider error (on a tricky track to be fair ) or mechanical failure.  A decent meeting though considering the rain - Lambert is a class act.
Willowman
Shame about r/r possibly cost us the win...Certainly did tonight although the Rebels had more than their fair share of misfortune.if we make playoffs...No doubt about that if all goes well for the Diamonds. They certainly deserved their point tonight. I would say that your top four have a fair shout at the fours after tonight's performance. Robert Lambert is a class act and certainly pushed Josh all the way in the heat Josh beat him. Matej and Ludwig also had their moments and were good backup. With Steve on board too, you have got to rate your chances.   You never know but our paths may well cross again.

A decent meeting though considering the rain - Lambert is a class act. You're right about Lambert - after two very subdued opening rides, anyone would of thought he swapped bikes with Matej Kus as Lambert was then massively quick. A mile back to then reel in Josh in one race and blast round the outside of him and inches behind him for 4 laps in heat 13. Very very quick when he got out the gate too, very impressive stuff. Enjoy him whilst we can at Premier League level.  It's not going to happen often Starke scores 2 points at home, especially in the same week he scores a maximum in the Elite league! Going forward from here though we still look a very solid outfit with Wilson Dean likely to go back to reserve for next month. Jake Allen has developed into a right proper racer and entertainer. He has to go down as one of the signings of the season, never knows when to give up. How he stayed on the bike in heat 15 is beyond me! Hopefully Starkey and Josh's bike problems aren't too costly but I fear they will be!  Overall, a very entertaining meeting with two very good sides... And we are still unbeaten since April 3rd!!

sommelier
Ht 6 was worth the admission for me, Lambert such a racing brain. Was hoping he would go through the card with the Somerset Aussies before the meeting started! You Newcastle supporters are privileged to watch him week in week out

Kus, I think, will be on World Cup duty for Czech Rep, so will miss the Semi Final (don't know about the second day IF we get through).  Great to come away from OTA with a League Point and fantastic to see Danny getting 5+1 (however he got them). Let's hope that's the confidence booster he needs. If you have a quick look at the stats for the heats the Diamonds only got one heat advantage in one race where the Rebs managed to get both riders finishing the race. Heat 7 being the exception , but in that Tungate nearly came off at the first bend. Still looked like a cracking match, well done to both teams. EnglishRoundabout
Newcastle definitely deserved a point last night. The consistent drizzle gave the track a real soaking which in turn ensured a level playing field for the first 6 heats.  Lambert was filled in over the first two bends of heat 1, as was Zach in heat 2. Starkey stopped on bend one whilst third, Rohan broke the tapes in heat 15 and Starkey did a 'Kildemand' and crashed on bend 4 when ahead by a country mile.  That said, Newcastle fought tooth and nail for every point. Kus, looking majestic in his first 3 rides, appeared then to lose power in his remaining rides. Lambert as others have mentioned, looked true class, and at 18 years old looks a superb prospect. What will also help his career is that he appears to have some grey matter inside his head. I have seen him on TV give some good mature interviews (not needing to use foul language like his fellow countryman who tends to use it fairly regular) Moreover, he looks for his team mates, again evident on Sky, but also last night in heat 15 when he trapped ahead of the field and immediately looked for Kus during the first two turns.  George English chose to put Lambert and Kus in early to cover R/R which in my opinion left the Diamonds vulnerable later in the meeting.  Just a mention for Jake Allen. Pure entertainment. Some pushing and shoving with Kus after their coming together in heat 15 (described by ref Ronnie Allen as 'handbags', was followed by one of the most hair raising rides I have witnessed at the OTA. The Rebels, needing only 3 points for the win in heat 15 after Kus's exclusion, were sitting pretty with Allen and Wright tucked in behind the super quick Lambert. Allen however had different ideas. He gave chase, scorched around the fence on bends one and two, before picking up grip and rearing alarmingly. He clipped the back straight fence whilst still on one wheel before just managing to get the front wheel down before he entered turn 3!!! Huge gasps from the crowd and huge relief that he remained intact. Incredibly before the relief subsided, he reared again on the next lap, momentarily clipping the fence again and landing uncomfortably with his bike in what looked like a very strange position between his legs!!  I watched Charles Wright cross the line behind Allen shaking his head in disbelief at his team mates riding in a race which was pretty much dead rubber. Still, he's young, enthusiastic and simply wants to win races, although he did say in an interview after the match that ' the red mist had landed'.  Hopefully these two teams can meet again later in the season. No doubt a two leg affair has the makings of a classic.
Najjer
I believe Starke's fall when well clear in heat 14 was a mechanical failure as oppose to rider error.
