Swedish Grand Prix Malilla Sunday August 14th 2016

Once, speaking with a respectable referee, on this subject of issuing a warning, and asking him of the penalty of that warning, he said that the warning related to the start of that race only. Two warning in a single heat then you're disqualified.... So with that I asked, could a rider be warned every heat, and the Ref replied technically yes........but that would be up to the Ref to caution him...... of his conduct and warn of further punishment.

Not bad for a boring rider who cant pass....... Well Done that man......

Now to watch Rossi, Followed by Liverpool- Arsenal, then the Velladrome . What a wonderful Sunday.......

Take away the Liverpool-Arsenal game and it would be perfect.

That referee was wrong. A rider can be kicked out of a heat without a warning for delaying the start. Edited by SCB

We appear have on this thread many people's interpretation of the rules rather than the rule actually being quoted. There have been many cases I have seen in the past when riders could have be warned about "delaying the start" but they go completely unnoticed until Hancock is accused of it. If he had broke the tapes that is a completely different matter, but he did not, I must have seen dozens of cases this year on TV when riders have been called back because the riders have jumped at the tapes without breaking them with no punishment given.

It seems stupid to have a rule, give someone a warning and then let them off, just because some like Phil Rising think we should see 4 riders in a final. Then make a ruling that in a final no.one can get excluded, they can only pull out injured etc,so we all know what is going on

Thing is with speedway they make up stupid rules, like joker and when people play the game and try not to get far enough in the lead that a team can use their joker,we then have to have another ruling so that is not allowed!!! But if we go that far then why not actually have a ruling that no warning will be given, you can do what you want and wont be excluded from a GP final as people want to see 4 riders.

Can be or must be?

Just quote the rule or the reference.

Can be. There nothing about warning. In much the same way here no such thing as first bend bunching, just an unsatisfactory start.

So I can't quote a rule as it doesn't exist.

Another very good meeting and all the more surprising considering the rain pelting down on Saturday night.

Greg won handsomely.... and a lead of 12 will take some catching. just shows you need to be consistent and get to at the least the semi and preferably the final.....points make prizes.

dirty Nicki at it again, and Lindgren is not far behind him.

Sadly, I think AJ's GP days are numbered. In fact I wonder which Swede will be in the GP next year. Maybe Lindback, but even whilst Freddie is doing alright not exactly setting the meetings on fire.

And Zagar as well, we know what he can do, but he is so inconsistent its unbelievable.

The way it is going Hancock will out last the lot of them ,can't quite understand the animosity towards him really except for the fact he is possible the best rider in the world at this time

Boring or just that good ?

Just that good. I don't find him boring at all. I love watching him ride, just like Rickardsson, he always knows the best part of the track to ride on, I don't think anyone else would have overtook Doyle in that final. A true master of his craft.

When you see riders like Pedersen and Jonsson running out of steam and Hancock getting better if anything, the guy's phenomenal.

Hancock is the class rider in the field. He has passed as many opponents as anyone else in the last few years, it's just that as he does it so smoothly, it isn't as 'exciting' to some fans who seem to only appreciate riders who can make more desperate moves to get through.

Even Tai falls into that category at times. The guy is 47 this year. I know it's a bit of a running joke with how much The Chuckle Brothers talk about it on the coverage, but it is amazing what he is achieving.

Hancock is a freak! The true all time greats, for me, are the riders who have won 4 or more titles. If he wins this year then he falls into that category.

Good to see a great name from the past there in Tony Rickardsson. Hancock is actually older than Rickardsson!

Does it all mean though that riders are just not as good today as they were a few years ago? How is it that Hancock is the dominant rider at his age, when in the days he should have been winning agewise, he was definitely behind the likes of Rickardsson, Crump, Pedersen and Gollob. Are today's crop just not that good?

Hancock is staggering, for a 46 year old to be beating riders 20 years his junior is amazing.

That said i agree with Norbold - when you consider how he was regularly behind the likes of Rickardsson, Crump (even his 2nd title in 2011 came after Jasons' arm injury which basically finished him) - makes you wonder just how good the quality right at the top is today compared to say 10-15 years ago when Greg wasn't even a regular top 3 man.
