From the start of his career Ben Morley has fallen of very little ,he,s been knocked off a few times,,but to compare him to the likes of Connor Lock is ludicrous...

Actually Locke reminds me of Danyon Hume last season as he has a good style but has not yet mastered the art of staying on his bike - Hume had the same problem as I recall...

No it isn't, they both had to start somewhere and Morley fell off on his own plenty of times during his first season. Now he's one of the best in the NL and having his best PL season to date. How would Ben have felt if one of his more experienced team mates' relatives had come on here complaining about him every time he rode during his first few months in the sport?

Ben has never had a problem staying on the bike it has taken him a while to get where he is now speed wise,,,but falling of when not challenged he does very rarely, in fact he is noted and always has been for being very smooth.....Your comparison with Connor Lock is an insult...

An insult? Behave.

Ben is coming on very well now, I agree but like most riders when he came into the sport he fell off the bike of his own accord on plenty of occasions. Don't take this as a dig at your grandson, just pointing out that everyone has to start somewhere.

Locke could learn a lot from Ben I'm sure, but would he want to ask knowing that Ben's grandad has such a low opinion of him?

Watched Ben from when he first rode at Rye, only looked about 10 with his wooly hat and looked like any gust of wind would knock him over. Can't honestly remember him falling off alot. No where near as much as Danyon and Alfie did when their started last year. Haven't seen the Raiders this year, can only follow them on the updates. But can't see how you can compare Ben with the current crop.

I fully accept that plenty of riders have numerous falls early in their career's (both whilst pressured & on their own) lets not forget Danny Ayres was hardly regarded as a smooth rider in his early rides.

The difference is showing levels of improvement over time & what the rider / club does to attempt progression?

Danny Ayres like Danyon Hume also mentioned on this thread went off and got as many additional rides in as they could to hone their skills / run at a level they were more suited to and then bring that experience back to the NL.

Its not Locke's fault he is taking the opportunities presented to him its the Raiders promotion who should take responsibility for taking a rider with very little speedway experience and thrown him into the NL (just because a couple of other grasstrack riders had successfully made the transition) .

Branford and Morley are both young still and not good enough for full time PL racing yet, so should they just quit? Of course not. But this league is for development, unfortunately the Raiders haven't had the best of luck with their three pointers unlike last season, it isn't helping anyone continually stating how bad they are though in this instance, it's a development league. There have clearly been efforts to find better options for the lower end too, hence Leek being signed.

Look at Verge last season, he was awful for Kent and he's now doing pretty well. What's to say Locke and Bowdery won't do the same next year?

The gulf in class between the top two and the bottom two in the Raiders' side is huge, that doesn't help matters either, when you have Morley and Branford winning races with ease and then see Locke learning his trade in the next heat it's going to be obvious he's still a way behind them.

I remember Ben Morley's first season, he seemed to spend more time under the third bend kick boards than on the track, he's doing pretty well for himself now. It just takes time.

Don't know which Ben Morley you were watching, because the one I've watched since the very start hasn't spent much time on the shale.

Ben has improved a lot under the management with more speed and aggression.

However against Cradley it was back to the old Ben so consistency still eludes.

I saw him at Eastbourne and he was terrific on a grippy track so perhaps that's where he feels confident.

Raiders novices, and I call them that because that's where they currently are at,need more track time ...simples!

I'd be quite happy to say that last season (and so far this season) Ben Morley IS Mr Consistent.

None of the Kent riders were even close to beating him (and Branford) on Monday night.

This was my first ever NL meeting.

Being down from Glasgow for a family holiday I had to see Danny riding for his "wee" team.

I really liked the stadium. The ladies at the entrance were very welcoming.

The racing was as I had expected with very mixed abilities.

I took a speedway virgin with me and he really enjoyed himself. Speedway's basic rules are pretty easy to understand.

If I lived locally I'd be back every week although I'd have to avoid those speed calming measures on one of the roads in. What are they all about?!?
