Kent will have to much strength in depth for the 4 man team Raiders,,Should still see some competitive racing from the top end of both teams

Branford in good form recently and may relish the differences made to the Kent surface but Morley is having a slight dip at present. However as always if these 2 can manage a full 28 between them (and i think he who D'Ayres will have a say in that) where will the rest come from? 10 from Priest perhaps? Hunter may get half a dozen but i can only see duck eggs from the bottom 3 who have an average of 4.5 between them.

Much will depend on how many The Kings reserves get tonight but they should be looking for heavy pay packets again. Mason with an injury is a concern as his efforts this year have been conservative at best. It "should" be a comfortable home win but theres something nagging that it could be closer than many expect.

Great effort from Raiders top 3 and Mcauley Leek..hope Hunters going to be ok,,the other two we should get shot of,,..complete waste of space..There must be others worth trying....Bet Kent are wishing they had booked the available riders Branford or Morley for theTrophy final, they would have won it..Raiders,,could have won with a little back up tonight..On second thoughts though,Kent are not very good at picking guest riders,,no disrespect to Georgie Wood ,but he is hardly a no1..Bowen is proving a massive loss to Kent

Great tonight from Rob,Ben,Luke and McCauley, poor George needs to take a break for a while, too many injuries this season.

As Waco has said the others are not going to improve any time soon, change is needed sooner rather than later.

Before any ones WHO! Haven't got any idea, but I'm not paid to know, so over to you Mr Promotor.

Those who post on this league's threads might do well to remember that the vast majority of riders at this level are not full time professional riders and combine their racing with working for a living, as do their mechanics, or going to school/college and thus getting guest riders for midweek matches can prove difficult.

Hope George Hunter's injuries prove to be minor in nature after his horrendous heat 10 crash.

In terms of scores and entertainment i thought it was a pretty decent meeting. Branford & Morley were a cut above and well supported by Priest although no lack of effort from Ayres & Shanes (who looked frustrated riding @ 3 and has not yet formed a decent partnership with Mason). Wood was always going to struggle @ 1 whoever the opposition.

As predicted the meeting was swung on the lower order with 8 points coming from RR, some decent rides by Thomas (who was lucky to escape a fall when over riding) and take a bow Danno Verge who battled and led Branford for 2 1/2 laps.

Leek picked up the scraps but Saul was well off the pace and as for Locke....credit where its due he cleared the track / continued every time he could but the falls were so numerous i lost count and looks desperately put of his depth. A lot of time and development is required and the NL is not the level he needs to be at right now. However i don't blame him as he keeps taking the opportunities offerered, i personally think its poor of the Rye promotion to keep exposing him & others to such risk and with this being about as good a performance as the Raiders are capable of they still came up short.

They all ride for money,,so they are professionals But the fans should not have to pay to watch riders who are not ready to race and spend most of the night falling off and putting others in danger, causing long delays And i am not refering to Hunter here who had a bad night but has been showing good progress and wish him a swift recovery,,,.is it any wonder the sport is losing fans,,,Most good riders are looking for guest bookings at any time .Certainly Branford and Morley are...

This is the National League, If anything too many riders like Morley and Branford are allowed to continue in the league far longer than the League was designed for. Hats off to those riders who continually fall, I remember a 16 year old Lee Richardson doing the same when he started out, he didn't turn out too bad. I enjoy watching all three leagues for very different reasons and if anything the NL has become too professional

Well said.

I did not go last night as I am not enjoying watching NL Speedway.

No doubt you get good meetings but as Waco said you get so many falls, breaks downs, delays etc.

And as far as Kent is concerned, things have gone off the rails.

Bowen is missed big time - Choice of Guests have been a disaster.

I think the season has caught up with Verge,Mason and Clifton.

Young Thomas has suffered a bit by being in and out of the main body.

I love watching Shanes and Ayres, but it seems to me that they both over do it at times and that causes problems for themselves.

But as I said earlier, delays etc in the NL has really stopped my enjoyment.IMHO.

Branford and Morley are both young still and not good enough for full time PL racing yet, so should they just quit? Of course not. But this league is for development, unfortunately the Raiders haven't had the best of luck with their three pointers unlike last season, it isn't helping anyone continually stating how bad they are though in this instance, it's a development league. There have clearly been efforts to find better options for the lower end too, hence Leek being signed.

Look at Verge last season, he was awful for Kent and he's now doing pretty well. What's to say Locke and Bowdery won't do the same next year?

The gulf in class between the top two and the bottom two in the Raiders' side is huge, that doesn't help matters either, when you have Morley and Branford winning races with ease and then see Locke learning his trade in the next heat it's going to be obvious he's still a way behind them.

I remember Ben Morley's first season, he seemed to spend more time under the third bend kick boards than on the track, he's doing pretty well for himself now. It just takes time.

Locke was shocking, i really do fear for his and the others riders safety when he is on track. Well done for getting up and remounting but it's a further worry as the leader is almost able to lap him.

Thank goodness Bowen is back next week as we are lacking his leadership.

I don't agree that the season has caught up with Verge; after a dip in form he was brilliant last night. Mason won heat 14 again (as you would expect him to do) and i reckon he would have been out for heat 15 had we time to run it. Clifton is back on Monday so hopefully he has got his confidence back.

Shanes over doing it? Totally disagree here as Mason seemed to be constantly getting in his way.

Thomas really is not far off the Birmingham reserves imo.
