Coventry V Poole. 15/07/2016 Elb

Apparently he left half way though the race. Anyway Coventry fans are always moaning that it takes ages to get out of the car park, so can you really fault him on that? Makes sense to beat the queue especially with a long drive ahead!

I seem to recall both gates were open on leaving so didn't take too long. i left after Heat 15 and didn't have much trouble getting out.

Not sure why peole are trying to score some type of point about me leaving the stadium. I was with Rob (shakeshifter) and we decided after two laps of heat 15 it was a lost cause so made a run for it to get out of the car park quickly. We had been told there was only one gate open and didnt want to sit in a queue for 30 mins with a 3 hour journey in front of us.

Its called common sense.

What's the point in living near the beach? Where would you go on holiday?

You don't need to! Save a lot of money!! And you get the beach all year round, seems a better deal to me. You can keep your city fumes to yourself, I'll take fresh sea air every time :D:)

Exactly, people do it at footie matches all the time, even when their team is winning! Edited by lisa-colette

Always laugh when I read people say Poole get big crowds because there's nothing to do down here.

Its a tourist resort. People come on holiday here because there is so much to do. Never heard of people saying they are off on holiday to Coventry or Ipswich.

We are blessed with 7 miles of gorgeous beaches which will be heaving with hot bikini clad tottie this Arfto. And I sm stuck in Frome😔

A lot of foreign tourists come to Coventry to be fair for the cathedral, Lady Godiva, transport museum and the old buildings in the area. Also we have major events in the city that bring people in from all over the country. We've had Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, MTV crashes Motofest and the Godiva Festival which attracted 150,000 visitors on its own. Add in all the sports we have many people come here for lots of different reason. Oh and I seen plenty of bikini clad ladies at the War Memorial Park yesterday!

What no holidays? Crazy. I doubt the kids would be so excited about a beach if it was on their doorstep, it would just be the same as going to a country park which we do monthly.

Yeah, who would want to live near the beach??! ;)

Quite a few people who live near the coast never go to the beach. I have sister who lives near Verwood and she hasn't been to the beach for many years but does go on holidays to other coastal towns!

Not only that but the place is full of grockles in the Summer months so there is no advantage living near a beach.

Have to disagree. The last 10 months we've been living away from the beach, and in summer really missed taking the kids for a boogie board every evening when I got home from work. And when the office closes for summer, working from home is nowhere near as nice as taking the laptop to the beach and working from there. Hope very much to be back living near the beach in time for this coming summer.

It is impossible to get bored of going to the beach they have so much kids stuff going on around it. Kids would never get bored. People inland would go on holiday to go to the beach, but people around here don't need to. It is not a necessity when booking a holiday unless they want to see a different beach. Notice you didn't comment on the fresh air! :D

I live opposite a nature park so the air is all good where I am. I'm not in the centre of the City. If I lived by the sea the beach would be just like a country park where you take the kids often. No novelty in it then. The kids certainly won't get as excited to go to the seaside like they would living here.

So you keep saying but you are on the forum posting every few minutes so you can't get much chance to go to the beach!!! 😃 Or perhaps you don't actually live anywhere near Poole!

I love little seaside towns like Poole, it allows a chance to escape from the hustle & bustle of big city life.

Manchester like most major cities in the world is incredibly full on where the frustration is what to do with so much to choose from every night. Being a 24 hour city means when you do decide its party on into early morning. After a while you just need to wind down with only the sound of crashing waves to attract your attention. People may scoff but sitting in a deckchair with an ice cream and knotted hankie is the perfect antidote to the bright lights big city. It's like stepping back in time a few decades to simpler times, somehow less sophisticated.

Just writing this makes me want to make a visit but the dam diary won't allow it for a good few weeks.

Viva Poole, may you never change.
