BWitcher
You're really wriggling now and resorting to unsavoury tactics (again), as per usual. Tattoos, food, movies and Mrs Woffinden desperate comparisons. We will agree to disagree as most end up with your posts, or you will bore me to death . Now let me enjoy my holiday. Let's have a beer at the 4's and have an adult conversation. Look forward to it - leave the briefcase at home. No I'm not wriggling at all. I've remained consistent all the way through. Nothing unsavoury, only your bigoted words. There is no 'agreeing to disagree', you've insulted the parents of offspring with tattoos and 'dumbo like ears'. Simple as that. I'd quite happily accept that you may not have meant too, or perhaps you could have phrased your original posts better and it's kicked off a misunderstanding, but for some reason you want to stick by that statement. Star Lady
Me too.! Apologies. Stick to the Star Lady type posts. Not sure how to take that As I'm feeling relaxed I'll say thank you and if you meant it in a not very nice way, have a nice evening anyway lol.

Oh shut up you complete plank. I offered you a stalemate but still you bark on with made up accusations, twisting words. Not once have I mentioned the parents you refer, that's all your doing - only asked forum input regarding parental response - you made the rest up to support your desperate argument. Just highlights how desperate you are to win a debate when you resort to such sadness. YOU not me. Now you have added certain personal criteria several times - highlights how desperate you are and the inability to debate. Hope school next week defines the word bigot, you appear to love it so much yet fail to understand the meaning. Not sure how to take that As I'm feeling relaxed I'll say thank you and if you meant it in a not very nice way, have a nice evening anyway lol. Very much a positive. The perfect response, respect others opinions or be labelled a bigot (so fed up with that word) Have a nice evening.

The perfect response, respect others opinions or be labelled a bigot (so fed up with that word) Have a nice evening. Once again you are rambling on in complete denial. These are your words... So,,, all you 'know it all', down with the kids parents will be very supportive when your offspring comes home with a face, hands & body saturated with tattoos, massive holes in their ears If you are quite content and respect your offsprings decision to tattoo their face, have ears dumbo would be proud and deliberatly swear in front of millions, fair play. Not my idea of a responsible parent - but hey, wouldn't want to be accused of bigotry. I have twisted nothing. It's crystal clear what you have said. It matters not one iota who you were aiming the comments at, you have established the criteria. As such any parent who has offspring with tattooed face and dumbo like ears is in your eyes 'not a responsible parent'. I understand, when faced with the reality of the insulting nature of your words it can be something of a shock. It's easy to type them, easy to think them, but when facing up to what you are actually saying you recoil. It's natural to lash out as you are doing, come up with silly excuses such as "I only meant the comments at you" blah blah. So come on, here's your out.. Do you stand by your comments that parents who respect offspring with tattooed faces and dumbo like ears are not responsible? Simple yes or no answer. ch958
Strewth! Surely this 'debate' has exhausted itself? i seriously don't know where he gets the energy from i wonder what kind of personality he has in real life - he seems very driven i don't engage but its quite amusing to read fwiw i hate tatooes, esp facial, but he probably does appeal to the audience the sport needs - young people and what does it matter about nationality - lots of fans support a personality regardless of it - Hancock, Sayfudinov, etc
New Science
IMO I can admire Tai Woffinden's Speedway achievements and his charity work, but I can dislike his disrespectful attitude on occasions, and his appearance. That's a pretty straight down the line statement which I'm sure is shared by many on here. Similarly I have great respect for Tai's speedway achievements but cannot have this 'role model' status. A role model is not just about your success you achieve but unfortunately how you act, live your life and even look You are someone who a young person would want to follow in every aspect of their life. Unfortunately for you Blackadder you are probably in Bwitchers "bigot" category for saying what a lot of reasonable people think
SCB
It's 2016 and people are STILL complaining about how people look? FFS. Pathetic. People should be allowed to wear what the hell they like, clothes, hair, tattoos or piercings. And to suggest someone hasn't been brought up correctly for wanting to express themselves is madness. I doubt any parent chooses to bring up a homosexual child but are they failing if they do too?
steve roberts
Interesting having just read a back edition of 'Backtrack' I came across an interview with one-time Ipswich and Reading rider Tim Hunt. 'Although regarded as a handful on track, Tim Hunt has always avoided bad language and commented on John Berry's outburst when he left Ipswich. Memorably in a televised Poole v Reading match at Wimborne Road Tim was excluded by the referee...' To quote Tim "They broadcast all of my discussion with the referee and I didn't swear once - I see no need for it. The rudest I got was to politely tell him that he needed new glasses - or a new pair!"

steve roberts
Ah Tim Hunt knows how to spray supporters with shale.... Yes he was a bit of a head case on track. Remember the occasion when he flew out of the pits at Smallmead and hit the white line and flew up into the air...bike and all!

I doubt any parent chooses to bring up a homosexual child but are they failing if they do too? Really? So you think the guy wearing the Hillsboro T Shirt is quite acceptable as it's 2016, he was only expressing himself. Homosexuality is not a choice but clothes, hair, tattoos and piercings are, totally different. No comparison at all. I decided not to respond to the 'know it all's' last post as the question was loaded as per norm. Unfortunately he / she forgot to mention one major part, the one that started this thread. How convenient. If it makes he / she happy I stand by my original post. I very much doubt many parents would be totally happy when their offspring comes home with facial tattoos, huge piercings asking what's for f*cking dinner? They may accept their decision but doubt it's a preference. Now off for more Sangria. Night night, await the usual.

Now as said, go tell Sue Woffinden what an irresponsible parent she is because I can guarantee you she respects her son. I see you are now changing your words though, you mentioned nothing about being happy, or indeed it being a preference before.. your words were if they respected their offspring for choosing to look like Tai they are an irresponsible parent. As SCB has said, it's 2016, times have changed and the antiquated views of the past are fading away.
Grachan
Go into any gaming store or a branch of Cex and most of the staff will be cultivating the same image of tattoos and piercings as Tai. Lots of people look that way these days. People said the same things about men growing their hair in the 1960s. Plus ca change.. spin king
What has someone wearing Hillsborough T shirt got to do with the conversation, I cannot find any reference to it anywhere else. Tai fashion sense not for me but then again I am now in my 50's so my trend setting days are well and truly behind me, but walk through any busy town or city any you will se youth's sharing the same or similar look to Tai. Its what young people do not only these day but years and years ago. As a parent of three sons if they were happy in what they were doing and reach the very top of their chosen field honestly I would not be bother how they looked and I would be proud, why would you not. The swearing again I don't particularly like it, but to perspective it was one word out of many, if he had have been effing and jeffing his way through the interview I could understand the hysteria. But end of the day everyone is different and maybe my tolerance levels different to others.
Shale Searcher
Really!!! People on here need to wake up! Speedway needs more woffidens to drag a dying sport forward! He is a roll model to many & i have friends that only watch the gps just for tai because he is modern/current, british & more importantly very good at hes job! The fuss people make about a swear word, i think thats probably very mild to what your sons/daughters hear/see at school & on the internet, if you dont think that then you need to pull your head out the sand!! If your offended then be offended, no-one died, i didnt see people in the crowd passing out or dying due to woffidens 4 letter outburst! The lad does alot of HARD WORK for charity & speedway is better for having him involved. If you dont agree with the above then your either just very bitter towards tai or completely out of touch with the world today. Speedway needs a new edge to pull it forward & to complete with other sports such as the darts which has had a complete new face lift in recent years & just look at the crowds the darts get now, going to the darts is the in-thing to do! Forget the 60/70s those days have gone & we have to move with the times and stop living in the past! Love him or hate him woffiden is box office & speedway needs him! How about speedway in the UK needs him, and where is he...........? Oh yea, Poland, Sweden, and the GP's.... Fooooook Britain..!!!

As SCB has said, it's 2016, times have changed and the antiquated views of the past are fading away. My pleasure, pleased you appreciated my confirmation you so desired. Therefore can tweak and twist to your content. Bringing in personal names again highlights how low you will go to try and win a debate. I am quite sure the said person respects their sons achievements in their chosen sport. That wasn't the debate but hey, you will go as far as it takes. As you continue to avoid my point I'll now ask you the questions, do you have children? If so, would you be quite 'respective' when they came home with facial tattoos, huge earings shouting making some fecking noise papa? Sometimes we may have to accept it but doesn't mean many approve, or in your case it's ok if your a WC. To laugh and say good on ya son in my opinion would make you irresponsible, happy now? - but it's 2016 and the youngsters now rule right? The Hillsboro T Shirt is quite acceptable these days, now times have changed. I bid you farewell and expect the usual reply. Not wasting anymore of my time with you. If that makes you feel you have won, so be it. At least Kleenex will benefit.
no-brakes-uk
Serious question: How come people get so upset by Woffinden using swear words and yet 'fecking' appears to be perfectly acceptable just by changing the u to an e? Seeing as Tai changed the u to an a, 'facking' must also be perfectly acceptable?
The Doctor...
Serious answer to your fecking question: in normal day to day speech, i have never ever heard anyone use the work fecking. Have you really heard it any time recently ? There was a stage in the years where father ted was popular that a few under age drinkers in my local used it, but apart from that, and a few republican colleagues, i've never heard it in common parlance. Ever.
