Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 13/7/16 Elite Lge B

Recommended Posts

I bet Poole are regretting not having kept Paul Starke in their side again this year.

Of all the riders used and tested since the introduction of this EDR scheme, Paul Starke must be the rider who has benefitted and progressed the most. Turned into a real quality rider that all clubs would want..

When, If and Maybe, the EDR is run next year, Paul Starke will be the first choice rider on every clubs list. ..

Just wondering what list they will use to rank the riders???????

Probably a list that allows Poole first dibs on him.... ;)

Same old same old either get too far behind at the start or fall away at the end

and It looks as if its going to be the same as last year reserves just not good

enough our no1 top scored and our middle order out scored pooles so

down to reserve again POOLE 23 LAKESIDE 5 even if our reserves

packed in 3rd places we would have got a point or even a win

TIME FOR A CHANGE I FINKS

Poole wouldn't have needed a guest if Sky hadn't of changed the fixture. To say Poole aren't eligible for a guest because one of their riders is competing in a prearranged and contracted meeting, that was never even due to clash to begin with, is utterly embarrassing. Frankly it is humiliating that some sad souls in our sport would prefer to see half a team in 1/5th of all the races than a similar scoring rider in his place.

It is inevitable that Lakeside will find themselves in a similar situation, providing the club manages to stay afloat with the lackluster offal that Lackside dumps on their fans year after year, and no doubt they will be shown the same discourtesy.

Another pathetic attempt from a pathetic management to score points, once again thwarted by a better team.

did not sign ellis as he was already nailed on a poole and to be

honest would not want him anyway as last year it was ride one

fall off one..but saying that amazing how a few extra quid has made

him a far better rider all planned long ago.Took a chance on kerr as

can be as good as starke on his day but has not worked out and rob mear

should have had a year in premier or national league before coming back

One of the most pathetic posts the forum has seen... and that's saying something.

What are you wittering on about you imbecile?

Poole tried to break the rules.

Poole failed in breaking the rules.

Poole tracked a team with only six riders, therefore will, if they haven't already, be fined.

It's not rocket science.

Careful, your starting to sound like Gavin. Clearly your looking to join him...

I love that the local rag is having a go at Lakeside for daring to make sure the rules were adhered too. Aww didums, are the people on the south coast getting upset because they have to play to the same rules as everyone else?

And whats got into Jon Cook? In the past he's rolled over for Matt Ford! :o

Went to this fixture while on holidaying in Bournemouth. Shame neither team had 7 riders. Pretty poor showing from Lakeside, who apart from Jonsson looked pretty feeble. His ride a both protect the 5-1 with Bridger while racing Andersen was the best ride of the evening. I couldn't really see the 1st bend move by Kurtz to pass Bridger that the announcer was raving about due to the position I was stood on the entrance to the third bend. The whole Poole team rode well. Lawson, Nilsson & late in the meeting Mear did OK for Lakeside. Unfortunately the heat 2 spill for Kerr seemed to take the wind out of his sails & I think Starke can consider himself lucky he wasn't excluded for that incident.

And I do wish the Pirates would invest in a water truck, I have so much dust in my hair.

As a Poole regular, I fully support the rule that there should have been no facilty (which in the EL actually means a PL 6 pointer or NL rider) for Ellis' absence - infact this was questioned on the Poole forum on Sunday!!

What I don't understand is why, after much discussion apparantly, Poole's inclusion of Wright was initially not objected to by SCB when the proposed team was submitted on Sunday and was not advised to Poole until Wednesday - by which time it was too late to get a replacement. As I say no dispute with the decision just the timing of it!!

When I arrived at the track at around 6.40pm, I was told that AJ 'was still stuck on the M.23'!! and that Lakeside had 'dug their heels in' about the use of Wright, even though he was in the pits and set-up ready to race!

Not that it mattered much with the overall result and great to see Wrighty helping out Brady and Starkey in the Poole pits all evening!! Just a bit surprised that Mr Tatum didn't object to Wrighty even being in the pits??!!!! ;-)

As SS says above the track was very smooth (again) but quite slick and very dusty especially on the 1st/2nd bends - in fact I'm surprised it didn't suit the Lakeside boys better. I do dispute the 'poor meeting' description though as there was some great passing in particular from Brady, Buzz(eventually) and Rider of the Night - Paul Starke.

Incidentally Kyle Newman was the recipient of a cheque for £300 from Poole's Rider Equipment Fund to assist him whilst not racing. He is included in Poole's team for Coventry on Friday 'if declared fit'.

What I don't understand (other than obvious gamesmanship) is why Lakeside waited until the last minute to object to Wright bearing in mind he was named on Sunday to be in the team. The whole point of the declaration of team line ups ahead of the match was to avoid instances exactly like this.

Clearly the referee didn't check either.

I don't think anyone comes out with any credit for this fiasco least of all Lakeside.

Staggering really that people can't put petty biases aside and still have a dig at the totally innocent party.

We're told Matt Ford knows the rulebook inside out, this time he either made a mistake or thought he'd get away with it.

He didn't, nothing to do with Lakeside, Wright was an illegal guest.

Poole still won, the home crowd went home happy... that's all there is too it.

I agree with this. Although lets not forget last time Lakeside were due at Poole and they didn't have a full team they just postponed the meeting, maybe with Cook its a case here of "once bitten twice shy".

Leaving it to the last minute is a bad thing to do but we all know Matt would have played it that way so I struggle to have to much sympathy.

Nope, you are just using your bias against Poole, as they is no reason why Lakeside couldn't have objected it days before! Unlucky for them we have a bit of strength to our team, so trying to screw us over on the day didn't work!

Why shouldn't they leave it till the last minute?

They're not the ones in the wrong here.
