B.V 72
I can tell you that you wont get an overall speedway experience anywhere else like belle vue, the views and sound of the bikes and quality of the experience are second to none. Perfect views where ever in the stadium you sit/stand, close to the track and even at the lowest view point your are elevated above the track, looking down with the perfect view. The bikes roar like no other stadium due to the great acoustic barrier. The track is the best shape in the uk by far and racing will only get better as time goes by. The track allows four riders to ride out of there skin for four laps, close to each other without fear of crashing. I agree with everything you say.I dont think that fans will really appreciate how good the stadium and track are until they have been to a live meeting.I have just watch the meeting again on the tv and somehow it was not a patch on being there.Added to all your points above the telly just does not portray how fast the track is the racing just seemed so much slower than it is live. You just cant beat being a few meters away from the track with a great view to appreciate how fast the riders are going. longlivefrankie
In think the track and facilities are awesome, went up last nite my first speedway since Newport closed apart from Cardiff gps. Was very impressive I didn't think I would ever see a track like Hyde road but it's pretty close Oh for a funfair & zoo Match was pretty good too good value, lindgren very impressive and have just watched back my recording of it and it's still impressive to me on tv some people are very hard to please of is it just jealousy Will be returning later in season and it's pity it's not a little closer to where I live or I would be going more often Good stuff
hyderd
according to some on here (they know who they are) the NSS is like other tracks, nothing exciting, no passing just gate and go. So on their assumptions, why do we bother going to speedway.

The hardcore will always go(some tracks are down to that now) but attendances in British speedway at present are probably as low as they have ever been, particularly when the sport is live on TV as per last nights minuscule crowd confirms Edited July 7, 2016 by New Science
Coventry_Bee
You are true, attendances are really poor up and down the country. It makes you ask how long can so many teams keep running ? What I don't get is do we know why people stop going? We think we know but has ever any survey/questionarre been done to establish the reasons? Cost Entertainment value vs previous years Rider quality Day of meeting Rules Club closed It would be interesting to know
Fourentee
You are still (deliberately, ie trolling?) missing the point that posting comments about it raining when away fans are concerned about a poor forecast or posting that it is expensive to watch speedway at a meeting when it is the cheapest in the league can do no good and at best make people think twice about attending.I can understand your embarrassment at making a decision not to attend a match on the unsupported, inexpert advice of one poster. What I don't comprehend is why you show yourself up by pinning the blame on him/her when the logical thing to do is check.
Trevor
You need to watch racing at the NSS in person to really appreciate it, the closeness to the action and the sense of speed is what strikes you..
Wackie
Oh dear, the sport gets a grand spanker of a purpose built stadium, a fantastic shape and sized track that really wouldn't look out of place in Poland and has the potential to be the best race track in the country, and what do you get? Green eyed monsters and our very special Starry of all people, declaring others are easily pleased! There's been many spectacular stadiums promised, many great tracks planned, but when was the last time something this good actually came to fruition? I can't think of anything that's come close in the decades I've been watching the sport. Back to last night - it was a good entertaining meeting with some good close meeting and a close scoreline througout. Can't ask for much more than that really.
PHILIPRISING
LOOK what is being achieved at Glasgow to get people through the gate, lots of them kids, looking more like a football crowd than a speedway one. Even with a wonderful facility like Belle Vue more needs to be done along the lines of the Glasgow promoters to provide true entertainment on and off the track.

Belle Vue have a wonderful new track and stadium but the crowd looks like it has turned up to watch crown green bowls such is their age. The promotion now have the facilities, get out there and attract a crowd. All those empty seats looked terrible. Kids free, kids speedway fan club, hit the Trafford Centre, how many live in Manchester? Discount vouchers, bring a friend, a free pint, face painting, free air horns, etc etc If you build it they will come has not happened here so far. As for last night, better than the last three but not a brilliant meeting as some are saying by any stretch of the imagination. 6/10 Edited July 7, 2016 by Steve Shovlar

ouch
Without taking into account it being live on Sky up against one of the biggest live British football matches in years whilst on a school and off night. After the new lot moved in what was the crowd like at Glasgow for their sixth league match?
sparkafag
Do Speedway fans get to hung up about attendances in stadia and how it appears on TV? What is it being compared to when that stance is taken? There are plenty of other sports shown on TV that don’t fill out the stadium and have swathes of empty seats. A decent example is actually Shale Sharks who ply their trade not that far from Belle Vue, they have a nice, family friendly facility but very often when they are shown on TV their stadium isn’t actually that full, same case with the Rugby Under 20 World Cup, most football games shown from Scotland, Dog Racing and a few others. Speedway isn’t unique in this way re attendances. It isn’t alone in being a sport shown in what is perceived to be flat atmosphere or stadiums that aren’t packed out every week, but like other sports does have occasions that are well attended. I appreciate the simple answer is promote the sports better, but that alone doesn’t marry with massive attendances each week, and in truth that’s ok so in that case sometimes stadiums will look empty, better to have a big stadium that can be packed on occasion than a smaller one that can be sold out IMO . ** ** I appreciate Glasgow was well attended and they have boosted their figures, and more credit to them but it is a tiny facility compared to other stadia. If one side gets a crowd of 2,000 in a small stadia that looks full and another 2,000 in a stadia that looks sparse, it is still 2,000 people Edited July 8, 2016 by The Mockingjay
B.V 72
You simply cannot judge the size of a normal crowd against any meeting from any club when it is live on sky.(Glasgow the exception)They are always well down as people save money and watch it on tv.Plus in Belle vues case the Wales match would have caused even more people to stay away. So if anyone wants to comment on the size of a normal speedway crowd at Belle vue or any other club they will just have to go and see for themselves when sky are not in town.
hyderd
video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo_3zV1CkqI I wonder why they didn't show heat 13 when Cookie beat Lindgren, Cracking race with Lindgren all over cookie but unable to pass him. Some people are determined to find fault at the NSS, best is to ignore them and just enjoy our new home where we see great speedway week after week. Can't wait for the WTC, I wonder who or if the track record will be broken.??

Robert Lee
for the record, as I seem to have inadvertently stirred up a bit of controversy with my earlier post: I didn't say it was a bad meeting, I enjoyed it tremendously. I just questioned the superlatives coming from the commentators about a track which provided the type of racing you can see up and down the country every week. Nothing special. I didn't criticise the stadium or the promotion. I think they have done a fantastic job and we need more promoters to get off their backsides & do likewise. I'd rather see the kind of close battling in race after race that is the norm at Monmore. I'm not a Wolves supporter (although if the Bees go under...........). BWitcher
I wonder why they didn't show heat 13 when Cookie beat Lindgren, Cracking race with Lindgren all over cookie but unable to pass him. That race far from highlights the virtues of the track, quite the opposite in fact as the quicker rider was unable to pass, with Cook having to do nothing but ride the same line, inside, throughout.
