Col
Just watched Indians v Pirates. WTF was Lindback doing not covering the obvious Hancock move on he last lap. Are the likes of Cook, Harris, Lambert & King really worse than the arse end of Swedish League racing, surely they must be a better option than Jablonski & Cyfer. Lambert do have a team spot with Masarna. As for the others, King have been given many opportunities but haven't really made anything of it. Harris rode for Västervik for 9 years and after that, one season for Rospiggarna. I think it also is a matter of money, that the British riders are more expensive then the Polish riders. Many British riders have tried their luck during the years but very few made anything of it. Imo only Woffinden, Loram and RIchardson (maybe also Harris+Nicholls) have had any kind of lasting success. So I think team managers in general are very sceptical about British riders. DutchGrasstrack
I think the distance is another reason why they don't pick British riders. The Poles just drive from PL to SE with their van, for the Brits this is a much longer route (unless they have equipment in PL).
Mama
The problem is British riders (in general of course) are not prepared for Polish / Swedish tracks. Their bikes are OK for shorter British tracks and most of them take the same bikes to Poland / Sweden - so they are unable to compete with riders using right prepared bikes. Col
Nah. They're just bad. Polish riders usually do well everywhere. Even in British league. I will admit that Polish riders general failure in the British League is due to their inability to commit to every meeting. And that is down to British Speedway being unable to commit to a regular night, but having watched King beat Zmarzlik at the GP, who went on to pass Hancock in the final are British riders ever given a chance?
