Joe Beevers
Well you got the difference in score correct, so that was a great call. I thought Redcar may win by more to be honest.
Guest Scunny2012
Just got back from my first visit to Redcar after an interesting meeting, disappointing there were no league points, Douglas unbeaten after his first ride, Auty and Toft in the thick of it but Davies, Kerr, Wilkinson and Bailey only able to beat the Redcar reserves in some races, Redcar did have some bad luck in the first two races with engine failures and falls but Scunthorpe had their own bad luck with Alex Davies still in the team and continually getting in the way of Palm Toft in two races which probably cost Scunny a point, nevertheless it was good to see that Scunthorpe once again achieved two maximum heat wins in heats 13 and 15, a good meeting nice stadium good track and on the face of it looked a decent crowd
thebaron
Came away from this one last night; thinking that this was one we could and should have won !. There we are both Ryan & Big Josh pulling pukka top two rider scores; sticking two 5-1's at them as a pair; one to give us a shout at Ht13 35-42 down. But; the well used MPT and L'il Josh aside; where the hell was Wilko 4?- on a track he should know like the back of his hand !- to be fair L'il Josh actually looked smoother round the tricky Media Prima Arena ; Alex 3 ? and Lewis Kerr 0 ?. No middle order at all. As I say we could and should have won this meeting. On paper we did look better than the Teddies but for some reason ???. Alex and MPT together in Ht10 and Ht12 seemed to be intent on going for the same bit of track and opportunity was lost. Just when we got some momentum at home v Ipswich and guys are looking back on it; we're kind of back to base-ment for that Big One on Sunday v Glasgee. IronScorpion
This meeting, should, have been there for the taking after being gifted points in the 1st 2 heats. Sadly, consistency was our downfall, gating poor to average for some & even tho' there is a high banking it traps you as it's not the quickest line. Heat 8, where was MPT? Should have been in for little josh & heat 10 MPT for Kerr. Yes, Kerr hadn't scored a point but almost got round everyone on bends 1 & 2 in ht7 but Bellego took him wide. Don't know how the reporters have got it but Skids protected Garcia in ht12 & Dougie kept Bellego behind him after Auty got in front. At least my programme scoring is the same as the referee's scorecard!
June
With Scunny's team averages so low ( I get them @39.40 ) how are we as a team going to get off the bottom of league. even Redcar and Ipswich are a couple of points higher and the rest of the league between 42.50 and 45. Between top and bottom is like another 6pt rider. There will be some that say It can be done and I realise that but every Scunny rider has to ride at their very best. However that can rarely happen because of bike problems, falls etc. The team needs strengthening!

Lewis Kerr has frequently proved himself a darn good rider and he posted some big scores for Ipswich earlier; Alex Davies I rate very highly; always have one of those riders who is never out the race; when he was at Somerset you looked at their top three and then thought "hang on" they've got a fourth top rider in Alex Davies. But he really has been playing catch up this season and then Wilko our 2015 Rider of the Year and another who can be a top scorer at this level; but this season something is not working for him. Your just left scratching your head; as the management are. You know what I was thinking coming home ?; is our in game management the best it can be ?; do we plot our way through the meeting as a team ?; surely we do ? or do we ?. For example Alex and MPT in races 10 and 12. Did they not agree before the tapes went up which one of them was taking which line ?. Reason; they both dived on the inside and actually mucked themselves up in my view. Surely one should have gone for the switch inside and the other attacked it from the outside. But is it that simple ? who knows ?. One thing I do know; there are too many question marks in this short rant. sharpandroid
I was there too, it looks to me like Lewis has yet to settle in the team and because they haven't had many meetings since his signing it appears to be taking a while but he's not had a real chance yet, i like his style though. I thought Alex Davies should have been rider of the year 2015, he was on it later in the year and quite often appeared to be the one to get some points when the rest were struggling, so when he has sorted out what's holding things up right now I think he'll be great, do I recall he was pretty good at Redcar last year or is that my rose tinted specs? Wilko for me is awesome one heat and mediocre the next (i've never ridden a speedway bike so don't know why that happens) but undoubtedly a Scunthorpe favourite. Not sure if Josh B has ridden at Redcar before but he looked unhappy with things, Dougie Josh A and MPT were impressive, thankfully. Who does know ? Maybe the Bears would like their guest to be a permanent team member, he certainly made a difference. The wooden spoon is ours but it's obvious it won't be for long. It seemed like the tractors had nearly as much track time as the Bikes and came out early to move the dirt before heat 4 when Josh was due to ride, or is that me being a bad loser....... I see what your saying but if theyre all on song and up their averages, its makes us a 41 pt team instead of a 39.5pt team - stil behind the rest and the forever optimistic view that you and many others (including me!) have that Alex Davies will come good again .... its starting to wear a little thin. We do need stengthening, another heat leader to go with Auty & Douglas but unfortunately I dont think there are any out there or none we can afford. Anyway this season is done, its all about pride now, lets hope we can get some more wins.

It might be a bit premature to base the rest of the season on one meeting, but they certainly didn't look understrength against Ipswich - far from it. The team (or most of them) rode at their best form on a track that suited them (a track that was the way Scunny usually is). This could be a repeat of last season, with some poor performances early on replaced late on by some much improved ones and some cracking racing thrown in.
