Gresham
I was there last night...a very strange meeting indeed. It's hardly 'Elite' league is it. The majority of riders that actually looked good are Prem league regulars. KK and Harris...did they look 'Elite' compared to everyone else? I've never seen a Swindon track so difficult for a rider to pass on. Is it the track is it the bikes? What's made it so different, to when the likes of Andrew Silver, Leigh Adams and Jimmy Nilsen could miss the start, but could easily make up ground and find a way past? Pob
Not the greatest advert for the sport in this country . Last night meeting had plenty to offer if you liked follow the leader , Best race of the night was heat 15 and that was for the minor placing . Can't really understand the disagreements between EL fans and PL fans . It don't matter you get crap meeting in both leagues and SKY's last couple of meetings have shown that . Just because it EL it dont make it better and just because its PL and the standard is weaker in some peoples eyes it don't make for a poor meeting , in both of them you are going to get some cracking meetings and some complete borefest's . This is not an attack on either league just trying to point out to some people with rose tinted glasses that you can't label every match in each league EL PL or NL the same way .

orion
More teams so greater variety. Far more fixtures and no month-long gaps in the season. Until recently far fewer rider absences. Lack of a contrived racing formula and the illogical movement of riders within a team based on false averages. No fear that the league's membership is about to collapse. The lack of feeling that the league is run for the benefit of one club. The gap in standard from 1-7 far more even than in the EL, thus more even racing without the majority of races being split in half. And of course the most important thing about the Pl ..no crowds ...as I said many times if that is what fans want and it such great product then fans would be flocking to go and watch it and the facts are they don't . Making the standard lower has been the death of Speedway in the uk but you still got people who want to make the standard lower ..madness

My club Ipswich dont get good crowds bu then we got worse crowds in the elite league. The Elite league crowds are just as low. Lakeside get poor crowds and last nights was awful Glasgow, Somerset, Workington all get crowds better than most elite league clubs. You get good and bad racing , good and bad crowds in both leagues. To say different shows that you are fully in favour of one league more than the other
ouch
The thing is Glasgow have worked on the atmosphere side of things. They are aware the racing isn't good so they've (I'm guessing) reduced the stand size, got kids making lots of noise and have a mascot and rider dancing after a race. A lot of tracks seem to resign themselves that the racing is poor and just go through the motions ticking the heats off.

To say different shows that you are fully in favour of one league more than the other ?? Workington have been on the verge of going the bust other the last few years as there crowds have been poor ..I go to Somerset 3 or 4 times a year every year and they don't big crowds at all so don't know where you get that myth from . Lakeside by all accounts on most Fridays get between 1000 to 1300 what by miles more than the rebels get in fact it more than nearly every pl team bar Glasgow maybe . When did I say there was better racing in the el ...all I ever said is that Pl over rate there meetings a good example was last week when we had to shockers but people still went on how great it was .El fans are honest about there matches last night was crap and they said so. The first Pl do when there is a match on sky is for some crazy reason try to say that this much better than El racing . i never quite figure out why , Edited July 5, 2016 by orion
sparkafag
Workington get crowds better than most elite league clubs. You always chuck in random things that just obliterate the point you are making… Workington haven't been getting good crowds for about 15 years. tyretrax
Here's the PL snobs again. You will find reading this thread, the EL fans will say it wasn't a great meeting. Unlike you who thinks every average PL meeting is brilliant. The racing was no better last Wednesday than tonight, in fact it was arguably worse. However, last Wednesday had a cracking atmosphere so it papered that over. The meeting on Monday last week was absolutely awful.. there have also been awful meetings shown in the EL too. To be honest, no I don't think every P.L. meeting is brilliant. I also don't think the racing was arguably worse, no argument because it was worse. Coventry_Bee
It's too late in the day for changes to be made for the Bees, Sarjeant is totally out of his depth and through the rules this year he must be really enjoying his speedway . Woryna is inconsistent and I didn't really think there was much to be laughing and joking about behind his team managers back when being interviewed. KK was brilliant at Kings Lynn and also at home he has been good value for most of the season so I don't think an odd off meeting is far from what we have seen from riders better than KK this season. From day 1 the build was wrong and put Tai in our team and it wouldn't solve the issue. We need to change 3 or 4 to make this team work, don't forget how many were calling for Danny King earlier in the season and for all his effort last night he couldn't pass on what was a boring race track for the tv. If you got out you were ok, look forward to the Belle Vue meeting on a real race track, Coventry at Swindon has a recent history of being a disaster and I hope we put in a good performance and get somebody to ride at number 2 as the people taking the r/r are just not up to scratch.
SCB
How is it too late? Drop Woryna, bring in a 6.5 rider who scores 6 at #3, means a couple more points for King at 4 and means Sarj drops to reserve where he can score 4 or 5 rather than than 0s he's been scoring. We gain 5 or 6 points a meeting, the oppotiions lose 5 or 6 points a meeting thats a 10-12 point swing. Even last night with KK not beating anyone it would have meant us getting a point. Had KK turned up aswell then suddenly we're talking about turning a drubbing into a win. Thats how much of a difference one change can make.
