Leicester Lions V Wolverhampton Wolves, Sat 2nd July, 19:30

Recommended Posts

Hope he keeps performing poorly and stay top of the table.

You don't learn - do you?

Yes - your team are performing better this year and you will probably make the playoffs but the best teams this year have strong reserves and that will probably be Wolves downfall.

Well done to Leicester by the way :t:

Being top of the table means nothing come Sep. Look at cov last year, we were top most of the season.

Yes you had a good start to the season but with teams not far behind you & some having meetings in hand, you can't afford a drop in form or poor reserves.

Sense of humour by pass duo. That's why I added the wink at the end.

I'm fully aware it's only important what kind of form you are in come September.

That is obvious.

Only Poole have any significant matches in hand and I can't imagine there is a speedway fan in the UK that thinks Poole will miss the play offs anyway.

Happy to be top at this stage with more consistency needed come September.

We aren't there yet so at this stage I wouldn't swap our place for any other team.

Leicester's reserves 18 ~ Wolves reserves 4 says it all really. Sam, Jacob and Scott all won the rider replacement rides for Freddie so did their bit but when it was Peter's turn he came last. I don't know how he is riding at Monmore but judging by his performance tonight, scoring just 3 points, it's perhaps one season too many now and he should call it a day in the UK after this year. This wasn't such a good meeting as the Coventry one and was also very drawn out with a couple of crashes and race re-starts. One thing I will say though is that the presentation is really good and fans are always kept informed what is going on.

Wolves should have won, PK let us down, Howarth let us down blahdeblah.

Back in the real world however we are still too of the league, in prime position for the play offs and then it matters come September what those riders are scoring.

Long live the play offs. :t:

C'mon Steve, you know and I know that, especially under this format, no matter how many your 1-5 are scoring you might make the play offs but won't win any shiny stuff with reserves scoring next to nowt. To criticise someone who is not pulling his weight, even when he's back at reserve, is fair comment.

I made that very point to him last night and he came out the same old top of the league blahdeblah...

PK has a terrible record going round BP, he guested for us and he was just terrible, he had one good meeting but all the rest , it was a waste of time him firing up the bike and wasting fuel.

I did say it's what the TEAM do in September , not any one rider. And of course you are right that Howarth is and has been a big let down. It's not like it's the first time I've ever mentioned it!

we are. the point I also made is it what happens in September that is important and there is plenty of time for Kyle to get back to how he started the season and bring his PL form with him.

Not sure what world you live in but in the real world wolves should have won with rr and the guest working so well, the only reason you lost is pk and howarth let you down.

As things stand away form is only relevant to wolves and Belle Vue if they have a poor home record. I doubt wolves will have a problem with their home track advantage but even with Belle Vue's better team the relative neutrality of the National Speedway Stadium will make it much more difficult to rely on home form.

I suppose it's different in cloud cuckoo land though, lol!

In my real world it's what happens in September that is important , it's not like we failed to get any points.

I'm quite aware you don't inhabit my real world tho! :t:

Lol!

"my real world". The rest of us live in THE real world.

Ha ha ha!

That is the real world I'm on about. Care to explain which part of what teams and riders (including Howarth) do in September is wrong?

Go on, have a bash.

Couldn't care less what he scores in the qualifiers , he will get a wild card next year and deservedly so.

Makes no difference what he scored last time. Not even relevant.

I'd say Freddie is far from guaranteed a wc for next year, especially if lindback drops out of the current top 8. Can only see one swede getting a wildcard next year and suspect it will be lindback, assuming the court case does not rule him out.

I have to agree. Lindgren had his chance at the qualifiers and had a shocker yesterday and got knocked out.

I can see Lindback being given it if he doesn't make the top 8

Makes no difference what he does or did in the qualifiers.

So long as he puts together some decent performances in the GP's for as long as he is in them (he has already done a fair job so far) I reckon he will be a good bet for a wild card.

There will be 2 swedes like there is 2 Brits next year (not going into the rights and wrongs of that) . Lindback I reckon is nailed on pending any court case and Jonsson has had his day so lindgren is the next one without any real question.

If it ends with current standings, surely nicki p and zagar would be nailed on. Emil if interested.

Leaving one spot for puk, a swede, a brit to be considered for. Possibly a pole, but suspect the ultimate will have at least 4 qualified already so likely to rule the likes of hsmpel put.
