DSC67
I always got Clews and Fry mixed up. Wasn't it Fry who went over the first bend fence, or was that Smith? Both Paul Fry and Scud Smith went through/over the 2nd bed fence in a very scary incident Wasn't the rider that reached the top speed via the speed gun the late Paul Fry. I'm sure some one with a programme from a couple of seasons back will be able to confirm the rider involved

Weren't a couple of spectators hit by a flying bike?
topsoil
I can remember Bruce Cribb riding his ice speedway bike around several tracks in the late 1980s breaking several track records on the way. I wonder what kind of speeds he reached back then?
sparks123
Wasn't the rider that reached the top speed via the speed gun the late Paul Fry. I think it was 78mph or thereabouts. I cannot remember if he even won the race.

Bandit59
There was quite a bad rut middle of bends 1 to 2 on Monday night which Liam and Matty hit.Wonder if any newbies who got in free on Monday will be prepared to pay £15 on Saturday night? mythman666
To answer the question regarding the speed gun it was indeed the late Paul Fry who was clocked at 75mph at Berwick going into the corner, at a time when he was in the latter years of his career. Â Pretty remarkable considering he had previously broken his leg in a crash there as well as flying over the fence in the previously mentioned accident with Scott Smith. Reason I remember that is he landed right at my feet in what was a frightening accident. When he got up all he was worried about was how Scud was. I remember Paul Fry doing it,but was it not done again after the present promotion took over( vaguely remember) could be wrong though.? screm
That I'm not totally sure of to be honest. Â You're right it was the late Paul Fry, the policeman with the speed gun was stood on the exit of bend two and recorded the speedway of the riders going down the back straight.
crescent girl
The big crash was when wee Peter was promoting but the radar gun was later, under the new promotion. Definitely Paul Fry at 75mph. Second fastest was Makovsky. Might it have been the same night (against Newport) that Paul Clews produced a wonder-ride in Heat 15 to grab a draw? screm
Look at the way Plymouth rolled over at home to Somerset tonight. Easy home win for Berwick  Certainly a surprise result last night, Plymouth look a decent team on paper and should be able to put up more of a fight than Workington did the other night. topsoil
Expect Plymouth to be far better on Saturday than they were last night. Look back to the fixture last season and they drew the meeting at Shielfield and nearly came away with the win. Steve Worrall is a Berwick specialist, Todd Kurtz, Jack Holder, both go well at Berwick. Pity Kyle Newman is missing, he's also a good rider. Berwick are in great form at the moment, but will be weakened by the fact we cannot get a guest facility any longer for Seb. Hopefully another three points tomorrow night, keep us on the good run of form. Good luck to the newby Danny in the GP qualifier this weekend as well. Been impressed with the way he has fitted in this season.
crescent girl
Todd Kurtz has joined his little brother as a no-show. Plymouth will use Ben Barker as another guest. Hmmmmm.
