crescent girl
Bandits' e-Newsletter has hit the ether, and includes: Our Saturday opposition on July 2nd will be Plymouth Devils, who have proved troublesome opposition at Berwick in recent seasons. This time around, the Plymouth visit will be headlined by the guest appearance of Newcastle's Stevie Worrall, replacing Australia's Brady Kurtz, who will be in Italy, racing at the same GP Challenge semi-final as our own Dany Gappmaier. Both teams will be deploying rider-replacement on Saturday night. Bandits have invited Redcar's Simon Nielsen to ride in Dany's position. Simon was a successful scorer for us back in April, when his nine points from four starts helped us gain a League Cup draw with Glasgow. Bandits: 1 Kevin Doolan (captain), 2 Sebastian Alden (r/r), 3 Theo Pijper, 4 Matthew Wethers, 5 Thomas Jorgensen, 6 Simon Nielsen (guest), 7 Liam Carr. Devils: 1. Steve Worrall (guest), 2. Kyle Newman (r/r), 3. Sam Simota, 4. Todd Kurtz (captain) 5. Jack Holder, 6. Stefan Nielsen, 7. Ellis Perks
damosuzuki
Tough one for play off contenders Berwick. However, I'm taking the Bandits 48-
screm
Whoever gets more from their R/R`s will go along way to coming out on top. I like the look of the Plymouth team but as Workington found out last Monday Berwick are a team high on confidence just now and I expect a home win. Obviously Mr Kurtz wasn't all that impressed about Berwick being on Sky the other night, I am sure he will be looking forward to showing us just how to ride the Berwick track. screm
Mr Kurtz wont be able to, as it was Brady that was making his mouth go and not Todd from what I seen Todd Kurtz @TKR10 Jun 27 PL have tracks like Somerset, Peterborough and Sheffield. And sky go to Berwick. Brilliant
lewy
Surely riders are the best judges of tracks more so than spectators and quite a few over the years have had not so favourable comments about berwicks track aswell as other tracks

Maybe the younger Kurtz could be pointed in the direction of the link I put on here yesterday, it explains, from sky`s top two, why the Sky cameras keep coming back to Berwick, and long may they do so. Not one rider crashed on it all night and infact as far as I'm aware no rider has got injured on the Berwick track this season apart from Alex Davies who only withdrew from his last 2 rides and I believe rode the next day. You could compare this to Glasgow where I have witnessed a lot of crashes due to the track and a few years ago Newcastle used to have a lot of crashes (not so much now in fairness) Edited June 29, 2016 by allthegearbutnaeidea
screm
Surely riders are the best judges of tracks more so than spectators and quite a few over the years have had not so favourable comments about berwicks track aswell as other tracks Whilst I take your point, all tracks big small slick grippy are there to be raced, and while its doesn't guarantee good racing Berwick`s track repeatedly keeps getting top marks from the referees in their reports, like I say that doesn't guarantee good racing but it must count for something. I, nor anyone else, would ever say our track is perfect but it is what it is and certain riders seem defeated before they start, which can only help our riders I guess. bigeddiechek
I'm sure Kelvin Tatum has been know to say that Shielfield scares the living daylights out of some riders. Certainly looked like that on Monday!
topsoil
Really hope I am not tempting fate here, but there hasn't been any serious accidents at Berwick this season. How much this has to do with track preparation I don't know. Certainly the track has looked very smooth of late and doesn't seem to be giving the riders any problems. That may well be one of the reasons for a lack of passing, you very rarely see riders make mistakes at Berwick. How many times do you see more mistakes on then the smaller, technical tracks? But I can imagine Berwick being scary to ride as well, simply because of the sheer speeds you will reach on the big track.

Shadders
Does anyone know what the top speeds reached by riders is around your track They had a speed gun on Paul Clews a few years back. Think he was hitting close to 70mph down the back straight (downhill) Edited June 29, 2016 by Shads
lewy
I wonder if this is the highest speed reached on a british track?
Comet Dan
I believe similar speeds are hit into turn 3 at Derwent Park as well. Owlerton has the highest average speed though.

screm
Wasn't the rider that reached the top speed via the speed gun the late Paul Fry.
Shadders
Wasn't the rider that reached the top speed via the speed gun the late Paul Fry. I always got Clews and Fry mixed up. Wasn't it Fry who went over the first bend fence, or was that Smith?
