LagutaRacingFan
In 2014 Cookie missed the Pairs when he was reserve at the GP so I'd imagine he'd do the same if selected. I can't see King, Lambert or Cook being at the Pairs. Wonder if Kenneth Hansen will be free.... bringbackHalifax
Think King, as wild card, Lambert and S.Worrall reserves, will all be missing on the Friday.

RobMcCaffery
I believe they take the combined green sheet averages for the top three of each team and the top ten teams are then selected. This of course ignores subsequent rider withdrawals. In practical terms, in particular programme production and pre-meeting publicity where you have to stick to the ten selected tracks even if rider withdrawals mean that a pairing that is used on the the night would not have earned a place in the top ten. With the amount of doubling-up now this problem of having top PL riders ineligible due to involvement in the GP does call into question whether the PL Pairs can continue to be run the night before Cardiff, or do we carry on in the knowledge that the line-up will b e compromised? Of course if the plans discussed for league formats in 2017 do come to fruition it will all be quite academic.

Is that just to p**s Newcastle off?? (Not from you, but from the Authorities) What's the qualification criteria for the pairs? Top 3 riders averages added together. (Sorry! Already answered above!!) Panthers89
Confirmed as Lambert and S.Worrall as reserves well that decimates Newcastle team!
Dandelion
Confirmed as Lambert and S.Worrall as reserves well that decimates Newcastle team! Lindgren and Kus, who knows what you'll get from them, they might come last or they might go far!! I highly doubt they'll win though Although when is the pairs? Could be Palovaara by then instead of Kus? Is that just to p**s Newcastle off?? (Not from you, but from the Authorities) Top 3 riders averages added together. (Sorry! Already answered above!!) I know it's annoying but can't you be happy that two of our riders will be at Cardiff this year? HUGE for Steve!! I'm so happy for him

I'm so happy for him True but it just fully illustrates how totally stupid it is putting a major event on which results in a clash with a GP event and causes riders to missout. Another demonstration of why British speedway is on the decline.

Another demonstration of why British speedway is on the decline. I take your point but I think the crowd is significantly boosted by having the meeting staged the day before the GP. I do think the qualification should not include the riders who are going to be at Cardiff.
LagutaRacingFan
As I predicted; Cook is putting the Panthers ahead of his own individual glory.

Riders can still ride without fear of missing Cardiff and crowds will still be boosted by the crowds of Cardiff, because most people hang around after the GP, Couldn't the pairs be on the Sunday or Monday? Another demonstration of why British speedway is on the decline. That's a touch harsh. Staging the meeting the night before Cardiff boosts the attendance and gives supporters the chance to see two excellent meetings in two days. It worked for years but it's only recently with the huge increase in doubling-up that the chances of more than one rider being eligible for both events has greatly increased. It's so easy for people to condemn the sport as being stupid without actually checking why a situation exists. It's a straight choice: accept that some riders will now have to miss the Pairs for the GP or give up what is a very successful and popular curtain raiser for Cardiff.

Another demonstration of why British speedway is on the decline. Ridiculous statement. Holding the Pairs on the same weekend as the Grand Prix makes the crowd much bigger than it otherwise would be. It adds to the whole weekend. You're bitter because two of your riders are missing out. Holding the Pairs on the same weekend as the Grand Prix is one of the things the sport gets right.

Dandelion
can we not just have guests ? Maybe you can guest for this too? As well as the tractor As Dandelion points out, run it on the Sunday and then everyone wins. Did I just say something right for once? lol, I am not saying this because I watch Newcastle most weeks, I am saying this in the interest of the event, I'd like to see Danny King riding too, but he won't be either (Presumably???)
