Team Gb For World Cup

All this bitching, moaning and complaining if Tai (and Robert) rather than winding people up on social media just explained the situation. But oh no, that would be too easy. Rather than a few tweets explaining what was going on and people accepting it they have made the choice to get peoples backs up, so any "hate" is only down to them being wind up merchants.

Still, at the rate Woffy blocks people on twitter nobody would be able to read it anyway!

Exactly they could've explained all this over the weekend, even Monday morning. It's a good thing that fans care enough to question things!

I see he has posted his new tattoo, in memory of his father which is very nice.

However that same tattoo in the same place has a very different meaning.

Go on as I have no idea?

Edit: googled it and it says it's a symbol of the number of murders prisoners have committed.

Is this what you're referring to?

All this bitching, moaning and complaining is …. well, just bitching, moaning and complaining. It's the kind of thing expected of ten year olds, i'm sure the people doing it will go up to the riders on Saturday and tell them face to face exactly what they think of them.

Or the fans could say nothing, not give a crap and stop going to speedway because they don't care about it. Then what? Tai, Robert and the rest of them have to get new jobs.

People care, when they care they get annoyed about things.

Read an article today which is saying the inks used in tattooing can be very dangerouse, even cancer causing.

Not what you want to hear when the body is covered in tattoos.

Racing a speedway bike can be dangerous. Life is dangerous. It's not as if Tais tattoos hurt anyone else is?

The teardrop tattoo or tear tattoo is a symbolic tattoo of a tear that is placed underneath the eye. The tattoo can have various meanings: it can signify that the wearer has killed someone[1] or has spent time in prison;[2] that the wearer was raped while incarcerated[3][4] or it can acknowledge the loss of a family or fellow gang member. Sometimes, only the wearer will know the exact meaning of the tattoo

Set an example has to be number one.

i guess to lead the team.. being the one with more experience that will gell a side together.. be the inspiration for the team to move them forwards.. help them out with set up's etc..look at the swedish side being lead by andreas... everyone being together speaking about set ups etc got them all firing..

although i guess your comment has a double edge to it.. waiting for someone to answer then going in with another comment about how they should all practise.. maybe wrong..

Why does it have to be the number one - I assume Woz you meant 'the best' rider in a team? If so then I don't see why - some of the best sporting captains in history were never the best individually. I agree with Dazzafl and also for me it's about being a real people person, being the conduit between the team manager and riders, helping them in motivating riders etc. and handling conflict. However, for the World Cup there is a limited opportunity to build those relationships and I'm not sure they even get to toss a coin. Does Woffinden captain his Swedish/Polish side?

Having watched the 2 heats of the SWC it still makes me wonder why there are 9 teams competeting last night was a case of 2 teams that would either win or come second and 2 others that did not stand a chance, also with the first one 3 teams that where going to be there on Friday and one team, that was nowhere near getting more than a few points. I know it gives them a chance to compete at this level, but surely thay can get riders who have more ability, if not then tthey should be out there riding in other countries to gain the experiance to compete at this level. When you really look at things there are only about 5 teams that are at top level in the world now, just shows what a sorry state speedway is in.

For the U.S.A to have to call on a rider who retired from the sport 8 years ago to make up the team, when you would think that they would be getting the young riders going to the UK or elsewhere to get time on a track that is bigger than a postage stamp.

Until the other teams get thier act together would it not be better just to race with the teams that can really compete to make the SWC really worthwhile. Because other than Sweden and Aus last night the other teams didn't even stand a chance.

Hope the Brits do well but from what I have seen these past couple of nights I think we will be with the also rans.

Sorry I meant setting an example is the the first thing a captain should do.

Aware of that when I googled but we know which bit the haters will play off

I can tell you a huge % with that tattoo are ex cons. And most massively regret it as it marks them out from society in later life.

I don't think Woffinden will worry about that but people on the street who don't have a clue who he is will draw their own false conclusions.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Surely they wouldn't give fans false information :(

It was more than a few days notice anyway.

Weather the riders were told sooner then that's the question???

you also forgot he will be there Friday to watch the raceoff.. i am pretty sure he will see what line people are riding from that..

Oops! lol. Of course he will, Tai is just a natural talent.

I get it exactly. I'm just not a Tai aplogist.

If he had arranged a practice in Poland for the SWC, then it was a bit foolhardy as the actual track where the event is taking place was available to him. So rather than go all the way to Poland he could have quickly motored up the M6 to practice.

The issue is he and Lambert failed to show up at practice. In any other sporting discipline they would have been drummed out of the team snd replaced, but as teamgb are a bit short of quality thats a bit problematic.

To say he would have sussed the track in a few laps is fine. He is World Champion so has the ability. But he is also Captain of the team and therefore has the responsibility to other members of the team. Not every rider can suss the fastest way around the track, and so he could have passed on his knowledge and expertise to other members of the team.

I Will be there cheering the team on, but this could be humiliating.

As has already been posted more than once, it wasn't an official practice in any way, shape or form. It was a late notice open session for those members of Team GB that were available. Tai and Lambert had previous engagements.

I don't see you lambasting Lambert though....more double standards Shovlar!

No, he hasn't. He's focussed on Tai and mentioned Lambert in a softer fashion.

In your opinion.

Woffinden should shoulder more of the blame/misunderstanding he is older, more experienced, according to the Tai lovers more professional and setting an example for the others......especially 18 year olds :P:D:wink::party::nono::icon_smile_clown:

Remember the 80s when there were only 3 decent reams - USA Denmark and UK. At the end of the decade you could add Sweden to that list. Where's now you have half a dizen teams good enough to medal on a good day.

Personally think the current setup is about right - out of 9 teams, 6 are good enough, and gives the weaker sides something to aspire to e.g. for USA making the play off is a success.

Just seen Tai's new tattoo on facebook. Heard his reason for having it but to the outside world it will look like a prison tattoo
