ruffdiamond
SPEEDWAY supporters can get involved in the latest craze at the Premier League Fours this weekend. New mobile game Pokemon Go is sweeping the nation as people try to catch virtual creatures across real-life locations. Speedway fans will be able to try to catch Pokemon at the East of England Showground as the Peterborough venue hosts the revamped Premier League Fours on Saturday (4pm) and Sunday (12pm). BSPA vice-chairman Rob Godfrey said: "Lots of people are enjoying Pokemon at the moment, it seems to be the latest craze that everyone is talking about. "Why not come down to Peterborough at the weekend to see how many Pokemon you can catch and enjoy some exciting speedway in a great atmosphere at the same time!" Idiots! do you think them 'pokemon' were at Cardiff and tampered with NKI's machinery, or was that 'sponge bob' ???
acclennell
I think he was first reserve for the Swedish Final (the same meeting as Ludde is in) so must be either having to turn up, or someone has dropped out and Victor is now riding in the meeting. An absolute joke no wonder speedway is driving fans away when major events are held at the same time as the World Cup and international matches - do the SCB not look at potential fixture clashing when arranging major events. Both the pairs and the 4s have been affected due to non avilability of riders.

Cheers Steve still doesn't get round the problem that the World Cup was. Also don't agree that 'newly' signed riders need to ride so many matches to qualify for the major events - in my opinion if they are part of the team then they should be able to ride. I bet you could look at almost every week of the season and there will be alternative fixtures in, be it Elite League fixtures, Poland league fixtures, various National Championships, Longtrack, SEC meetings, Grand Prix, World Cup, you name it, there will always be somebody missing. That's before you take into consideration the availability of the venue. Riders doubling up and competing in more than one country.

I agree but the World Cup is one event you should not be conflicting with. As for doubling up riders you have a point and it's becoming a major issue for clubs especially in the Premier League. Newcastle have a very good team this year but due to doubling up I would say they have potentially lost out in three of the majors this year come Saturday night as a result of missing riders at key times. Yes Newcastle knew this when they signed the riders but in general it is a problem and needs to be looked at as the number of matches in both the Elite and Premier league which have become select teams is crazy. KEITH M
George said on the mic to Roy on Sunday that the Swedish fixture was not on the list when the date for the Fours were agreed, but since then the Swedes have added it on that date. So if the Sweden meeting is a re arranged fixture should we not have first choice on where they are riding... I know it's their National Championships but with no disrespect I think ludvig and Victor stand more chance of winning the fours than being Swedish Champion Edited July 20, 2016 by KEITH M
Reviresco
Cameron declared fit to ride in the Fours. Just needs an engine or two now then.... Head up fella.... (Ben Morley in at Reserve)

Think you've answered your own question as far as Newcastle are concerned, as this was pointed out by a lot of posters at the start of the season, but I agree that there is a major problem (i.e. lack of available riders) which is causing a problem in this country. So if the Sweden meeting is a re arranged fixture should we not have first choice on where they are riding... I know it's their National Championships but with no disrespect I think ludvig and Victor stand more chance of winning the fours than being Swedish Champion To be honest I had the same reaction to Steve Worrall and Robert Lambert choosing to be meeting reserves for the Grand Prix over riding in the Pairs. I would have thought they would gain far more riding at the Pairs than hanging about, with the chance of an odd ride at Cardiff. Unless they had no choice and were forced by rules to take the reserve berths I'm not sure of the exact rules.
allthegearbutnaeidea
In fairness only 1 rider out of 65 is missing due to the SWC, unfortunately for the Geordies it's Matej but I think if it was run on a normal weekend ie one with no SWC, GP, SEC there could still be riders away at a Longtrack event or in Poland on the Sunday, this is probably the best time to do this meeting as obviously there are no league fixtures across the world as far as I know?! And if the Swede's didn't ruin it by hosting their championships then it wouldn't of been a problem.

Graham R
I certainly hope food is allowed to be taken in , the cost of a cheeseburger and chips at Peterborough Speedway is £7.50 and one isn,t going to last all day.

Shadders
If the past is anything to go on it promises to be monumentally boring!!Including that awful band outside the bar on the first bend. Missus very much wants to go, but I'm not overly keen. Seems a long drawn out day, especially when you plan to stay sober and camping? Forget it!!
