Comet Dan
It's a 6pm start for this one to allow people to get home to watch the football. The Comets are without Rasmus Jensen as he has been called up by Denmark for the Semi Final of the European Pairs in Italy, he will also miss our trip to Newcastle on Sunday. As European meetings aren't recognised officially by the BSPA we have to run with a National League rider at number 4. We are grateful to Ryan Blacklock for stepping in. Line ups TBC Comets - Wells, Campton, Hansen, Blacklock, Vissing, Roynon, Williamson Scorpions - Auty, Kerr, Davies, Palm Toft, Douglas, Wilkinson, Bailey

topaz325
Can only see home win but Scunny have some decent racers who could cause some problems. Hope our reserves can get a good pay day , some tough meetings ahead with Newcastle and Peterborough.

Bandits4eva
Looking at the line up's why can I see Scunny winning this ? Same reason you thought they'd beat Berwick.. You're an eternal optimist?
IronScorpion
Scorpion's can't set bikes up, can't gate, can't win heats so will not win matches. How long is this going to continue for!!!!!!
Fozzie4388
One word to describe the Scorpions that's pathetic. Not one Heat Winner even the Comets NL guest won a race.
IronScorpion
Well, there you have it. Not one heat winner from us & to rub our noses in it, a NL guest wins a heat, even though he was protected by his team mate(unlucky Adam). With our ever so dwindling form comes poor gates. Entertaining & Best Track do not bring the punters in. Even some die hard regulars are missing nowadays. I'll still be there tomorrow hoping that we can do something. Just hope the riders can do something, go back to basics as it has worked before. Persevere.

thebaron
Same reason you thought they'd beat Berwick.. You're an eternal optimist? Should have been capable of better than this and as much as I want to remain "the external optimist" results are beginning to make it look misplaced. One Ht winner against a weakened Comets and even NL guest Blacklock posts one of their 14. What the blazes happened with Alex and the Flag Marshall? WTF its not supposed to be WWF ! We most definitely need to get something out of tomorrows meeting and think thats a Win ! Edited June 11, 2016 by the outsider

We most definitely need to get something out of tomorrows meeting and think thats a Win ! Sadly there were no heat winners for the Scorps The incident between the flagman and Davies was disgusting, the flagman was rightly telling him to keep off the pitch but Davies pushed and may have even threw a punch at him. The flagman followed him into the pits and had to be restrained. Davies should have been out of the meeting. Pretty routine win for Comets, well done to Raj!
Marksman
Never in doubt tonight, scunny never looked like winning a heat. 15 heat winners for the Comets not often you see that happen. Mason Campton rode well tonight, never really seen him make passes like those before around DP. Alex Davies made quite a prat of himself tonight, after seemingly moaning to the ref after sliding off on his own, decided to then try riding onto the rugby pitch and when the Marshall stopped him he pushed him and threw a punch. Then after getting booed came out for Ht14, and eventually passed Roynon on the line to finish 2nd who had slowed the race down to team ride Blacklock home, Davies went round on a lap afterwards goading and enticing the fans even further. Yes well done mate, you just finished second to Ryan Blacklock.
Lord Lucan
Comfortable home win for the Comets and never really looked in any danger at any stage? Disappointing to see Scunny struggling like this, they have riders more than capable of winning round here but it never looked likely last night that they would stay there even when they were in front, (which wasn't often)?? As for us well, just too strong all round, definitely seem to be coming together as a team so once we transfer that to the away tracks we'll be alright!! As for that little spat, well the sooner this nonsense of going on the grass is sorted out the better, if this turf is so "hallowed" why dont the club invest in some coconut matting and run it around the edges to provide a small walkway, or, why not simply tell all the riders "BEFORE" the meeting starts that they should not encroach onto the playing surface during the meeting, it's not rocket science?? Never understood this business of not being able to cross over a small area of the pitch, if riders crashed during a race and ended up careering onto the field, are we going to complain about that as well while offering treatment, policy doesn't make any sense? scaniaman
Lord Lucan it was stated in the rules for 2016 that riders were not allowed on the centre green under any circumstances, therefor alex davies was bang out of order he knew the rules ,he was hustled into the first bend by mason then packed in on the back straight so it was SPIT THE DUMMY OUT moment.
Comet Dan
The riders are told before the meeting about not going on the grass, it's also stated in the local rules which are on a large sign in both sets of pits. The track staff are also told to keep the riders off the grass if they go on during the meeting so the gentleman in question was just doing as he asked. Unfortunately Alex Davies didn't pay attention to any of that. It was very unpleasant and I won't comment any further on it because I would probably get myself in trouble! The BSPA rules which was brought in this year was to protect the people on the centre green, I believe due to a near miss at another track last season. At Derwent Park it is a particularly hot topic because the rugby club really do not like a bike or anything else going on their pitch, especially the day before a match, we rent the stadium from them so have to respect their wishes.
Islander15
Having never been to Derwent Park, is there adequate space to push your bike off the track without impeding onto the pitch?
TheScotsman
Having never been to Derwent Park, is there adequate space to push your bike off the track without impeding onto the pitch? Think you're better going by train or car.
Django
The pitch and track get close in the corners but there is space to push a bike around the pitch as most riders do. Davies tried to cut across as a short cut.
scaramanga
Having never been to Derwent Park, is there adequate space to push your bike off the track without impeding onto the pitch? the answer to that is yes theres not loads of room but more than enough to push your bike along the straight till you get to the corners where there is plenty of room to stay in safe plce untill end of heat the pitch is well marked so its clear to see the edge of the playing area
