Bspa Making Sport Look So Amateurish

So barker replaces Kerr at Ipswich yet Ryan Douglas guests for Ipswich instead of Kerr tonight . How on earth can u replace someone who no longer rides for the club and what makes it even more bizarre is barker is guesting for Plymouth . Baffled by these rules in speedway they never make any sense .

Won't know why they let Kerr go if Barker was unavailable , I suspect he accepted the guest booking before he agreed terms with Ipswich

Whilst that is the case, it's the fact that a press stating Kerr has been dropped to make way for Barker could lead people to believe Kerr is no longer an Ipswich rider. Maybe time the press release differently or reference the timetable for the prospective moves.

Lakeside ride at Belle Vue tonight with priority for Lewis' services, Ben Barker remains in Glasgow's team until after tomorrow's meeting.

Nothing to see here

But try explaining to any newcomers that Ben Barker as signed for Ipswich but he is guesting for Plymouth even though lakeside are riding. Just looks so stupid.

The kerr missing is acceptable as he was always missing.

Clubs should not have announced the changes yet.

All you lot involved with speedway ain't got a clue. Your killing this beautiful sport of ours with agreeing to daft rules etc etc.

What is there to explain?

It's very simple. Ben Barker has signed for Ipswich, he makes his debut next week. Simple.

Why would anybody be trying to talk to newcomers about guests, TR's, DU's, etc, when allegedly you have brought them to watch speedway. It seems to me that some people would rather take out their frustrations/bias's on speedway by frightening or putting off newcomers off. Try letting them use their eyes instead of having to listen to you.

Do you take people to Football, and then tell them about the offside rule the minute you get in ?

No, but when the ball goes into the net and the defending side get a free kick they're bound to ask why. Just like speedway newbies will ask why one of a team is listed in the programme in italics, or why one team has seven riders the other has six, why one or more riders has (G) behind his name in the programme. Do we just ignore their questions and hope they'll think so much of the 20 minutes action they'll keep quiet between the heats?

You simply answer them. It's very simple, I've done it many times and not once has anybody ever 'laughed' as some on here like to claim happens.

Just concentrate on the racing and the tactics. That's what they are supposed to be there for. Does it really matter if one has a race bib, whilst the rest are in suits, or what helmet cover he has on. You are either trying to enrol them into the sport, or your have an agenda which you think he needs and deserves to be told. FFS.

So, when asked why one team only has six riders for the parade I tell him it doesn't matter, you're here for the racing. That'll go down really well!

People ask things, you have to answer their questions.

You simply say.. "So and so is injured, they're operating rider replacement. Each of the other riders can take one ride, one above him in the averages and anyone below".

Job done. Very simple.

I've answered them too. Some have accepted it, some haven't. I was really answering Tsunami's question about why would anyone be discussing guests, T/R, D/Ups etc. Every newbie I ever took (to a team event) asked me something about racing regulations, team make-ups, that sort of thing. Not one has ever just concentrated on the action.

Your answers sound like your phobias are more important than getting someone to like speedway. With a disallowed goal in football you could just say disallowed for an infringement.

Same with speedway, like BWitcher answer, a simple explanation on the night, then back to the action.

And after your replies, did anybody ever come to another meeting. Of course they did and brought all their mates the next week. Yea right.
