Can only see another year of mediocrity. Maybe next year! Let's not get too downhearted. Most great sides take a season or two to build. The 1980 and 2005 sides weren't just thrown together, they evolved over time. A few lessons have been learned I'm sure regarding riders on assessed averages. We are by no means the only club affected. Even seasoned campaigners such as Havelock and Campbell have been caught out. Team BMR have a winning mentality, they will want success on the track. If you'd seen Steve Jensen after the meeting he was seething. They will get it right, but it won't be overnight. Â Â The Berwick supporters who were on the tour must have been made up over the 2 nights racing bet none of them expected 2 cracking meetings and no defeats hopefully our luck is changing for the better now all the praise for the riders is welcome for them also to Scott who i presume picked our guests wisely lets keep it going next Saturday against Edinburgh im sure the boys will get a great reception cant wait.Your main problem is the home track. Absolutely no home advantage and very little passing. Contrast with Scunthorpe and Rye. Get your track back to how it was in the Peter Waite years and you may have something. hackneyrocket
I'm not down hearted, the atmosphere is much better this season. It's just that when you see other teams strengthening, I just wish that we would do the same. You say that things don't happen overnight! What about Glasgow last year? Nitto, with no guarantee they'll win anything this year either. Throwing money at it isn't always the answer.Newport threw a bucket load of money at their team to win the KO Cup. Back then though we had riders who liked the track the way Peter Waite prepared it. Very few of the current team would like it prepared that way. You also got some horrendous meetings during that time, like the Cup final (can't remember the exact name, could have been the Premier League Trophy?) against Workington when none of the riders could turn the bikes in the corners.

But speedway was the winner and congrats to all the riders, especially one Dane who rode out of his skin, now I wonder who that was? screm
Seems like a great meeting, the problem is everywhere I go I see the Berwick riders outgating the home riders yet on a Saturday night at Shielfield park we're outgated by the opposition 2/3rd's of the time, we obviously need to sort our starting gate out? Â Who are these slick starting Bandits? Are these the same Bandits who can't gate to save themselves at Shielfield? It's been a brilliant tour for the team and it sounds like a cracking meeting tonight. Here's to a lot more of them! Â Its certainly a conundrum right enough, time and again we read on the updates about our riders out gating the home riders time and again, yet we cant seem to find our gating at home. Maybe its down to track prep and our riders not getting the track they are looking for.
Chris
Not sure what's up with Robbo. After a strong start to the season his scores seem to be tailing off. Perhaps age is creeping up on him. Three meetings in three days plus all that travelling is probably taking it's toll.Certainly not the Robbo of old. Injuries have caught up with him. He would have been up by the fence like Lykke in the old days but is happy to poodle around the white line like Lanham these days. All well & good having experience in the side but they won't be busting a gut at this stage of their careers. Absolutely no home advantage and very little passing. Contrast with Scunthorpe and Rye. Get your track back to how it was in the Peter Waite years and you may have something. Could not agree more. Had a debate with a fan on Sat night, who said there was nothing wrong with track prep at Berwick. My question to him was to whos advantage. Berwick have gated well at nearly every track they have visited, have been praised at several, so why can they not do it home, what is the difference. Simple TRACK PREP Back then though we had riders who liked the track the way Peter Waite prepared it. Very few of the current team would like it prepared that way. iand
1st visit of the season for me, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good crowd which seemed up on previous seasons. Arrived at 6.20 and car park was nearly full. 1st time I've seen racing without the camber, so much better. Should've got rid of it years ago. Very good vibes about the place from the people I spoke with. Next meeting probably the Rye At Plymouth for me. Hope we can repeat our earlier season victory, think I was the only Rye supporter there to see it.

If Plymouth prevent Somerset getting 4 match points that's us through to the semi finals. Edited June 6, 2016 by Shads

Not always the case Chris as against Redcar I recall he made sure he rode out wide to stop Bellego but I guess not all the time now.I think it was machine issues as his gating was terrible and had no speed - anyway Peter Karlsson can give him and Lanham about 8 years as he's 46! Reviresco
Robbo discovered a mechanical fault after his last heat was completed on Saturday, so I wouldn't be writing him, or Gentleman Leigh, off too soon. Â Cam was blocked unintentionally in a couple of his heats and was worth far more than his 7. Kasper will be sensational during his spell at Reserve - where he was due to start the season before the Klindt situation arose. Ben Morley is doing everything and more that could be expected of him and Eddie is Eddie -on any given heat, the best rider in the PL, Mr Consistent, Mr Leader, but occasionally prone to the odd lapse. Â Yes, I am biased, but I hope Peter Schroek looks further than just Eddie for heat 15. IMO, A N Other should have been in the decider instead of Eddie.
