Hunters Posted June 1, 2016 Report Share Posted June 1, 2016 We knew weeks ago we would be without Adam Ellis and would get a right thumping but it might not be so bad now. The top four look reasonably balanced with Williamson and Perks having Perry Barr as their home last year with Cradley. Both sides will be r/r for their fifth rider which gives 11 scheduled rides to the reserve pair and that is where eagles should get a tonking. However Martin has done a lot of work on them and their equipment, as a result their improvement over the last few matches as been very noticeable. This is the real test as to their development and with Harris also being a Heathen last year I have a feeling they may not be a total walk over for the Brummies pair. 52-38 to Birmingham would be a good result for the eagles. As regards the play offs, they have to get there first and if they do it will be a different team by then so no point in speculating which is why I am so opposed to play- offs. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

greyhoundp Posted June 1, 2016 Report Share Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) Brums reserves are different gravy to everyone elses in the NL, both of them can win races at every other Track, as you saw tonight yours cant, and Cradleys couldnt against you guys on Saturday, nor could they at Coventry a few weeks ago. Brum badly weakened by having to use rr for Tom Perry, and RTD didnt score as many points as Tom Bacon probably would have got, but hey they still won, and a hard earned point for the Eagles. Spiller can take over if needed which it probably will be and they should make the playoffs interesting should we make it. If we don't they will be saved for next season. Eastbourne thoroughly deserved their point but were severely hampered at reserve compared to us, whereas the absence of Tom Bacon and a bit of an off night for Hume hindered the Brummies. Jane Knight rider of the night for me, very impressive. Horrible crash in heat 14, thought for a minute that bike was heading straight for me....hope Jack Smith is OK, amazing both riders got to their feet. Brummie Kev Posted June 1, 2016 Author Report Share Posted June 1, 2016 Glad we got the win, I had no idea Danny Ayres missing until just before the start time. I think that weakened us considerably, his rider replacement only got 5+2. He was immense when Kent were here. That said well done for Eastbourne getting a point. The Jackson Smith first bend crash was absolutely horrific and I'm glad he and Darryl walked away from that. He went into the fence with such force that his bike was lodged on the top safety fence with the wheels in the air, two panels of air fence destroyed aswell. Thank god for air fences. I thought we rode alright tonight, Jackson and Darryl rode really well. We definitely had the upper hand with the reserves. Shocked with Charley Powell, he actually looked decent here last year in his guest showings. Williamson rode better tonight then he did for Belle Vue the other week and Jake Knight was impressive. Finally credit to the Eastbourne fans that made the trip up and were very vocal. Saw the same people as last year but also some more, great support. Shouting and swearing at Darryl after Heat 14 and making rude hand gestures too. What a sterling example he was to the children there. He needs to wind his neck in. I am sorry Lord of the shale i think you could say that Richings was the one who was shouting across the pits to Perks as Perks was smilling as Ritchings who was swearing and shoutung mainly in anger, Also the fact that it was the school holidays and Richings was going crazy in the pits has not made any difference as there were no children in the pits as its not allowed also the fact that the nearest spectators are 50ft away from the riders and you cant see the riders becase of the layout of the pits? you cant hear the abuse from Ritchings because of the PA system i suggest you get your fact correct before you put it out on the forums, Also please use facts and not fiction as you said Perks has gone down in your opinion, and it this only your opinion and what you wanted to see as none of it is fact. He is our #1 and at home that means he has to win races. He's not doing it nearly often enough. Hume looked like he was riding a bucking bronco in a couple of his races before he pulled a win out of the bag, Reidar Replacement - didn't score what Tom Perry would have scored. Darryl - par for the course and bags of effort for not enough reward. Jack Smith - reasonable showing and signs of improvement compared to the start of the season, albeit inconsistent JPB - Was overtaken too often. Are his bikes in need of some more power? He has the style and the confidence but seemingly down on horsepower. Arthur Daley - not fair to comment. BSPA - at the root of the Brummies problems. Fans want their riders to cheer for, even if they are only temporary. If we are going to be forced to field guests and RR all the time, we might as well go back to the EL. The Brummies are 3rd or 4th in the league material on this showing. I doubt if they will get away points at Eastbourne or Kent both of whom have scored league points at Perry Barr, and crucially, in 2-legged finals, both of those teams will ensure that the Brummies will get runners-up medals at best. I'm sure that it won't be long before someone else visits Perry Barr and has 60 points stuffed past them, and the Brummies will look like world beaters again, but when that happens, all it will show is the gulf in class between the top 3 or 4 teams in the NL and the bottom 3 or 4. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
