British Final Belle Vue June 13th.

Craig Cook for me to make up for his bad luck last year.

Garrity has to be a strong contender for the rostrum and i think this could be the year that Nicholls and/or Harris dont make the final.

Cook Garrity Lambert Nicholls in the final and Steve Worrall and Harris missing the final

Could be a number of riders who can make the semi, from there on it's wide open. The semi then final are one off races. All I know is that I am looking forward to this final a lot more than previous ones because of the track, which I think will provide far better racing than at Wolverhampton, which was a nice stadium and seemed to put on a good show, but I was always under the impression that carnage was just a first bend away on such a tight track, especially when riders were not going to give an inch. How many re-runs were there in finals past? Hopefully a much wider track will provide much better racing.

Wolves should of never had that meeting for all those years should of been shared around Scunthorpe,Somerset,Sheffield, Workington four examples of great tracks that would of put on a show.

It will be interesting to see how the British riders from Belle Vue & visiting teams do on it over the next couple of weeks before the meeting. Some riders still won't have been on it by then so could be very interesting on the night.

So far of those riders in the British Final, Cook, Nicholls, Worrall brothers, Garrity, Harris & King have ridden it. Lambert & Lawson will be the only others to ride there before 13th.

Lambert has already been there with the World U21 qualifier

The meeting will be classed as a farce by some fans, as the "Best British Rider" will not be contesting it this year.... As he wants to give the chance of winning it to someone else this year!!!

Give me a British Final from the seventies, eighties, or early nineties any day of the week...

The standard of rider may have been higher when we were one of the top speedway nations but it is gong to be the best British riders available and will, I am sure, produce some good racing.

As for being a farce without Woffinden,he was very lucky to win it last year, Cook was well ahead in the first running of the final.

Yes I remember the 'cut and thrust' of the British Finals in the 70s and 80s in particular. The 1978 final when one of my heroes, Gordon Kennett, qualified for the World Final after a run-off. Great stuff! Trouble is I missed his subsequent appearance at Wembley due to a pre-booked holiday in Jersey...groan!

Correct...some fans will think it's a farce...some won't.

Correct...factually the best British rider won't be there.

You preferred the BF in the 70's, 80's and 90's...as did others...some still like it these days.

Don't worry fella...I understand exactly what you are saying... I can't see anything in your post that indicates Everything was better in the past.

It seems what you actually enjoyed and how you feel is not allowed, and you will be told otherwise. ;-)

The British Final is regularly excellent…. has been since the 80’s it didn’t become crap because of the year it is raced.

This year will probably be no different "cut and thrust" and "race offs" and even at some stage will be referred to as "the good old days".

FWIW I actually think Woffindens nonattendance will raise the standard rather than lower it. I think it means just about every rider there will fancy themselves whereas they possibly haven’t been able to get in that mind-set before due to the subconscious of knowing they are in a meeting with one of the best British riders ever, we are lucky to be able to watch riders like him now.

...and of course Peter Collins' sensational exit from the World Championship when it was claimed that a substance (sugar?) had been added to his fuel causing him to pull up on a couple of occasions during said same meeting.
