RobMcCaffery
I'm sure I read somewhere this is being broadcast live on a Midlands radio station but I can't find a link can anyone help? BBC WM often cover speedway in the West Midlands when they can but they didn't tonight. You can always check coverage here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/speedway/17839601
uk_martin
One way traffic last night with Rye House only managing to get to 30 due to the charity of the referee in his decisions on what does and what doesn't constitute "rolling" at the start. Big thumbs up to JPB and Darryl Richings for the one race of class, with both of them sweeping round Ben Morley from the back. Big thumbs down to some of the Rye House riders who threw the towel in, in some races looking even slower than a rider with engine failure. I feel sorry for any Raiders fans who were served up with that lack of effort from their riders. The fans deserve more from the riders that they shout for. I hope Tom Bacon gets over his injuries soon, but I don't think it will be a 5-minute recovery. Nothing known yet for certain but the Brummies Facebook press release suggests that it's a "suspected" fractured foot. If it's confirmed then that's likely to be many weeks out of action. So, now the next question is, who else can the BSPA prevent the Brummies from signing as temporary replacements for the two injured riders? How determined are the BSPA that the NL siverware follows the EL silverware down to the south coast?
Ben91
There always seems to be injuries when Rye and Birmingham meet, best wishes to Hunter and Bacon, two riders who both have potential to make careers in the sport. Bacon's absence will surely just see the Brummies employ r/r for him and track guests for Perry and they'll still be just as potent a threat. What riders looked uninterested Martin? Perhaps the nature of Bacon's crash was playing on a few minds, have to remember Priest has suffered horrific injuries in the past while Bowdery, Lock and Leek are a way behind Hume, JPB and Smith in their development at the moment.
GWC
The fact that Birmingham were able to sweep up some of best talent available including Rye's Hume is a big benefit and good luck to them. Len Silver always tried similar for the raiders. I would never criticise Young riders who are learning the sport - some have developed much quicker than others. We saw Bewley at Rye and he was superb for someone so inexperienced. I suppose having a Premier team to support puts the National league into perspective for some supporters and that's where Birmingham should now aim for. Not sure how you can call it all one way traffic , Rob did beat your number one three times , once from the back according to updates, don't be so one eyed. uk_martin
Which riders? Heat 14 springs to mind. Hume and Smith were away and gone. Locke and Leek pootled around, not even sliding around the corners. The guy next to me jokingly said they were trying out their ice-speedway techniques by keeping their wheels inline. Speedway Updates described Jack Smith as having "mechanical issues" in that race as he almost came to a stop on the last lap, before looking around, and then riding on to still come second. Later Smith was reported to saying that he thought he had miscounted the laps and thought the race was all over, as there was nobody behind him looking like they were still racing. When a rider can almost come to a stop, restart and still come second by almost a quarter of a lap from the guys in 3rd and 4th, then it paints a dim picture of those guys at the back. And how were they in the rest of the meeting? They are novices out of the training school and very inexperienced. You're lucky to have the pick of the better young riders.Danyon Hume is a product of the Rye training school. He was all over the place at the start of last season, but we persevered with him and he improved greatly, then you poached him from us. Mini Jack
"Poached", how so? Care to elaborate? The Raiders were poor at best, even Morley went backwards throughout the night. Whilst Branford may have scored a hatful, one would assume that he may not have done had he not jumped the start pretty much every single time. Whilst Brum are strong, it was still a poor poor effort from the Raiders, novices or not.

uk_martin
And how were they in the rest of the meeting? They were a lot more switched on at the start of the meeting than they were at the end when they threw the towel in. They are novices out of the training school and very inexperienced. Ours is a team of young novices too. Look, I said that I thought that Rye House fans deserved better than to have riders give up on you. But hey! You're a Rye House fan, so if you're happy with your team, then I'll be delighted for you. We can leave it at that.

There's a world of difference between Parkinson-Blackburn, who's one of the most promising young Brits out there and Smith, who's had the benefit of his dad's experience and advice. Wajtknecht and Ritchings have Premier League experience. Tom Bacons had plenty of track time at Mildenhall. Bowdery, Locke and Leek have had a handful of NL meetings this year, nothing before that. We're mostly happy with our Premier League team. For me that's far more important.
