Rockets V Edinburgh Sun 22nd May 6pm

It seems it wont be. Be interesting to see how they manage to drop a rider you are not allowed to drop.

This is Edinburgh. They'll find a loophole, or invent one

Bit unfortunate for Jye that he lifted a little out of the gate in heat 14 and caught Karger and they all cannoned together.

But there was not a grain of dirt on the inside half of the track in turn 1 so nothing to hold you up or keep you in line. Don't know what it was like round turns 3/4.

I have seen some blue grooves before but never that wide.

The noise of the rakes on it and the still shoes as they came back to the pits was like a spade on concrete.

Shame that it got like that for the last half dozen heats or so.

I feared it might when I saw the grader going round before the start and there was just no dirt on the grading thingy at all.

Once the track gets better and the building site ceases to be a building site it will be a great setup.

It's great that you can get closeish to the start for a great view.

(Assuming there are no subsequent dust clouds obviously!)

The much maligned Peter Karger was the match winner for Rye.

Gated from 4 (as most did - 10 race winners from it and 3 from 2) and there was nothing Smiling Sam could do to phase him.

Rode really steadily through the race despite the pressure from Sam.

Well done that lad.

Crowd went wild!!

Agree Shads and his recent form would seem to confirm that..Was that Karger in heat 11 or did his dad borrow the suit for one race ?????? ..Joking aside give the lad credit, fabulous win..Turning point ? well still to be convinced but definately an improvement

Law of averages says he was going to pop out the gate eventually and win on what sounds like another ultra slick track.

Oh dear, a poorly disguised dig.

He pops out of the gate regularly. Just doesn't seem to be able to hold onto it for 4 laps

Karger's win over masters reminded me of Preben Rosenkilde beating ole olsen at west ham in 1971. The crowd went wild on that occasion as well!

Should've realised that you would be in attendance yesterday after our chat at Foxhall during the Rockets KOC match the other week, and would've sought you out for a chat but, as always these days, I was parking up as the riders came to the tapes for Heat 1 and was meeting The Scotsman anyway and we then got involved in his role of phoning through updates for the Monarchs Chatzone site and that took up all the spare time during a speedily run meeting until the unfortunate incidents at the start of Heat 14, the like of which I have not witnessed in my 46 years of following speedway - a really strange incident. Hopefully all four riders are not too seriously hurt, but the reports as I left the pits were that Leigh had damaged fingers and was heading back to Ipswich hospital and that Peter Karger was feeling pretty bashed around - a real shame after his brilliant efforts to fend off a charging Sam Masters to record his first Rockets heat victory in Heat 11.

I really enjoyed my first trip back to Hoddesdon since Rye House v Newcastle in 1992. A really good feel about the place, despite it resembling a bomb site in places. Really professional and friendly staff, helped me get parked and into the stadium in time to see the whole of Heat 1 - unlike Foxhall the previous Thursday, served with a giant hot dog by friendly catering staff, allowed me to watch the racing close to the track - just like I was brought up to enjoy at Brooklands and then gaining straightforward admittance to the pits after the meeting. A very enjoyable and now oft to be repeated trip. Yes, the track needs work and the stadium is in an "in between" stage, but my speedway involvement goes back to 1969 and Hoddesdon as it currently stands, is all I need to enjoy a speedway meeting. Thank you to all involved.

Glad to see you had a good time macca and that you were able to get to bruv in the pits after.

Hope you got it all sorted.

Thanks to your and "bruv's" involvement, my updated signature confirms the situation after a FB chat earlier today. All good and both parties seem happy with the arrangement, so you can't say fairer than that. I guess my car will be heading down the A120 more than east over the Orwell Bridge from now on, although the lure of a "wasted season" and the Redcar Bears on Saturday week may just be too tempting to miss. Thanks again, really appreciated.

Huge thanks to macca for his assistance when I was doing the Chatzone updates.

My brain hardly works quickly enough to do them solo - especially when that woman starts rattling through the heats!!

The PA system on the back straight was certainly not worthy of the name but was loud and clear on the home straight and as for the 2 minutes siren - I could probably have heard that back home!!

Shame about the dust though.

Also I heard them say some shale is being delivered this week for the training track.

Could most of it be hijacked for elsewhere?!!

My pleasure Scotsman and, as they say, two East Lothian brain cells are better than none.....

My hearing is still ringing since that 2 minute warning.....

Would just like to say what a great job the BMR Promotion & team management are doing with getting the feel good factor back at Rye. The team spirit in the pits is excellent with all the lads rallying around & helping each other. Peter Schroeck's team talk at the interval must of been inspirational by the way the lad's responded.
The grin on Peter Karger's face from ear to ear after his Ht 11 win was great to see. Obviously from a personal reason it was great to see Ben Morley top score but it was a terrific all round team performance gaining victory from the jaws of defeat.

Also it's good to see a lot of the old faces & supporters who were lost under the previous promotion returning to come and say they are happy to be back and are enjoying watching the speedway at Rye.

Best wishes to Leigh & Peter on their speedy recoveries and seeing everyone again on Bank Holiday Monday.

The track does need a more consistent surface watching Kasper and Heeps giving it a full handful

into the bends but not getting the rewards is annoying.

But that's the 3rd meeting now that rain has been forecast to arrive so it's always going to be a lottery.

No dirt on the outside same thing with Covatti at foxhall goes for the outside pass and there is nothing for him to ply his trade on . Shame really Covatti last season on the outside was a joy to watch

I think Steve and the rest of Team BMR will have the track sorted pretty sharpish. Totally agree with dave1075, I sensed a real feel good factor from the gentleman at the entrance to the car park right the way through my whole Hoddesdon journey. Credit where Credit is due, and a lot of credit is due.

Surprising win in the end. At the interval after heat 10 it looked an Edinburgh win all day, but the Rye reserves came to the party & made the difference. No idea what was going on with the line up in heat 15, but it left the crowd feeling flat. Poor gifting Edinburgh a point.

Woman refs embarrassing themselves again. Scandoulous that heat one wasn't restarted. Kennett marginally over Masters, before they hooked up & Masters footrest took the chain off. Who assesss these idiots?

Track way too dry again. I'll let the promotion off the last two meetings as rain was around but they need to get a lot more moisture in it. No more excuses now. The blue groove was huge.

Surprising win by Karger, won't read too much into it. Now has to build on that.

I am not in favour of women refs either Cris another appalling decision in race one proves yet again they have no idea of how the men race motor bikes. Having said that some of the men are pretty bad ,they all need regular asessing, but it will not happen as there is not enough of them now to throw anyone out
