womble53
It's local Derby time in the League Cup this weekend, as no one else has started the thread, here goes Edited May 17, 2016 by womble53
EnglishRoundabout
Well done Dave.... I will assist in kicking things off with a prediction then. The Rebels are on a roll, so not a good time for our noisy neighbours to visit the OTA. A thumping great win for the Rebs..... 60 points on the cards. Could well be, but that depends on which Barker turns up. You know what you're going to get from Kurtz/Holder/Newman around Somerset so they'll keep it interesting. I'll stick my neck out at 54-38 to the Rebels.
Sherborne Green
Dave. Hope it's a good meeting. Sorry I will miss it as away on holiday. As you well know I am always split with this fixture and hope it's a good meeting. At least we are at Wembley.
crazysue
Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the Updates site as our regular texter is unable to text? If so, could you please send me a private message remembering to include your mobile number. Thanks
Najjer
Ben barker at no.1 for Plymouth? Christ, I hope your sake he is better than he was last week as he was nothing short of awful. This should be reletively easy for the Rebels. Saturday will be abit more tricky however!
crazysue
Still looking for a texter for this meeting, is anyone able to help please? Thanks

Think he's ridden in a couple of matches since his poor performance at Somerset and scored double figures each time. I'd be surprised if he does that on Friday though. Najjer
So no Somerset fans have put up this meeting was abandoned after ht 11. Strange.. What's strange about that? Some people have to get home and I can't imagine their first port of call is to rush onto the BSF. For what it's worth, complete farcical ending with Plymouth not wanting to ride and Somerset gifted a 5-1 to get the 10 point advantage they need for a 3 point win tomorrow. As per normal it's the fans who lose out, the usual get to heat 10/11 and call it off. We'd barely had any rain and the track was far from being bad. Some im sure were reading the updates.. Whilst at the meeting? Why would anyone follow the meeting they are at on the updates??
Gresham
Very disappointing...very little rain...decided to grade the track before heat 10 and take all the dirt off...what little there was. The track was then like sheet ice...it actually looked like ice, it was that bare. Right there and then I knew they'd call the meeting off after the next race...started to make my way to the car, and heard the announcer say it was now off as I opened the door. A little bit of damp, and these bikes can't deal with tracks where you get slick on the inside and a little bit of dirt on the outside. I actually took a picture to show how little dirt there was. But unfortunately you can't seem to show pics on here...so little dirt on the track that Brads mate was doing the track inspection in flip flops, and the mascots friend walking around the track in white trainers...not a mark. Only losers here were the fans...heard people around me say...'and this is one of the reasons people have stopped coming'...such a shame. gusworld
Shame on the Plymouth management to in my view cynically delay racing by ordering a track inspection after heat 10. when the track was still race able and Jack Holder had just ripped round the track in a good time. Clearly the weather was going to get worse so we should have got at least a couple more races completed before calling it off. The fans miss out again. Luckily we got the 5-1 in the heat 11 lottery when the track was worse.

Luckily we got the 5-1 in the heat 11 lottery when the track was worse. I agree...and It was hardly wet though was it...complete farce. These bikes are great when conditions are perfect for them...ie little dirt and dry...they can't even deal with a slight berm...there was no dirt to speak of, yet when they come off the slick race line, they almost high side. Speedway is a sport open to the elements, and we live in a Country that rains a lot. So they've allowed the sport to evolve into something that can't even operate in damp conditions. It doesn't add up...and people question why crowds are low. If that track had deeper shale/dirt on it, and bikes that could cope with those conditions, there would be no way it would even be considered to cancel it. It doesn't make sense how Speedway has evolved to what it has become, when you take into consideration the elements we have. As promotors and ruling bodies of the sport, shouldn't they have been looking at every conceivable way of getting tracks and bikes suitable for racing in at least damp conditions?
