Guest
The data on Rob Hollingworth does not detail the Conference League era. I would like to see the Hollingworth record for that period if any BSF member has it available please. If I am correct, besides riding for Boston in the Conference League, Rob Hollingworth also made a couple of guest rider appearances for Wimbledon? This is a Link to an article about Rob Hollingworth that appeared on SpeedwayPlus in 2001. http://www.speedwayplus.com/neg_robhollingworth.shtml Edited July 19, 2016 by Guest
John Leslie
Eh? MS Word spellcheck sometimes changes the word "data" to "league" because they look similar.

TonyMac
I just wish someone could tell me how on earth I can confirm what tracks Jimmy Squibb rode at between 1947 and 1950 (inc), his first Southampton spell, info which is not yet available on the excellent Speedway Researcher website. no-brakes-uk
I might have missed it because I only scanned through the posts but I can't see Neil Collins name. He was the first one I thought of, a career spanning almost 30 years he must be up there?
Guest compost
I was interested to read in the SpeedwayPlus article that Rob Hollingworth's brother Nicky was also a rider at one-time. There is a record in the yearbook covering 1977 that he rode for Boston (1), Glasgow (11) and Stoke (3). He doesn't appear to have ridden in official team events before or after 1977. Guest compost
I might have missed it because I only scanned through the posts but I can't see Neil Collins name. He was the first one I thought of, a career spanning almost 30 years he must be up there? I make it around 51 (though I don't have a lot of info on 82-84 and 86-88). If you want a list of tracks then I will give them. He rode when there was a period of stability in terms on the tracks he could ride on something not helped in that I can find no record of him having ridden on a 'division 3' level track. Hope that helps ?

TonyMac
Many thanks, BL65, compost and all who have contributed to this and for indulging me. Am I right in thinking we should increase Jimmy Squibb's tally to 69....? He rode at TWO of Birmingham's Perry Barr tracks: Alexander Sports Stadium (50s) and at the greyhound stadium (August 19, 1974).

I didn't include them as the RoI is Not part of the UK and you'd have to include tracks in Germany, Australia and other foreign countries in the totals. You should include Dunmore as Northern Ireland comes under the UK so I understand. Apologies for missing out the '74 Birmingham track. Thought it was all the same venue. Interesting that neither raced at the bulk of the SAL tracks nor Cowdenbeath, Ashington and Newtongrange. The Cardiff meeting that Ken participated in on 18th October 1951 was a Best Pairs event, in which he partnered Tommy Miller. Ken scored 4 and Tommy 10. Gerald Pugh and Bob Jones won the event after a run-off with Charlie May and Arthur Pilgrim, after both pairs scored 25, with Howdy Byford and Eric Chitty third on 22. The programme for the Cardiff meeting included a pen portrait of Ken McKinlay (spelt McKinley throughout): 'A novice discovery of promoter Ian Hoskins, it took Ken quite a while to prove if given the chance he would make the grade. This season has been his best ever, and being young there is no reason why he should not reach the top flight. Is reputed to possess a fine singing voice.' tmc referred to Ken and Reg Luckhurst, another fine singer, in an earlier post, I wonder if they ever took the opportunity to duet in later years. It was very apt that the Cardiff crowd were also graced with the presence of Howdy Byford, yet another singing speedway star. I wonder if Ken rode in any of the open licence meetings at Hamilton in the late 1940s/early 1950s.
