Coventry V Lakeside This Friday (20/5) & Return Clash Saturday

Recommended Posts

Regarding Bridger, don't think he was has bad that his score suggests. His first ride was challenging for the lead before he went down, showed plenty of commitment there. His second ride heat 7 hardly the easiest ride! Can tell you he was working tirelessly hard to get that Jawa dialled in. You could see how flat it was out of the corners.

To be fair to Lewis he isn't really getting enough time in the bike, it seems, doing EL only and one meeting a fortnight for the last few weeks. He tweeted recently asking how Craig Cook can get PL place while he (Bridger) who has been out of the sport for 18 months is not allowed to ride PL . I know it's the rules but when you look at the comparable abilities of the two riders you have to ask what befuddled thinking went through the minds of the BSPA when they dreamed up such inconsistent rules.

It's quite simple what is being offered up as entertainment is not worth £17 or £18 and that's not just at Coventry. There are two or three quality riders then a bunch of reserves/premiere league riders, not value for money.

Well you could save a quid and watch PL speedway with no "quality riders" and NL wobblers at reserve. The price is not bad value for money. PL is virtually the same price. We pay the same price at Poole and see it as good value for money. Wasn't Coventry V Poole good value for money? You were there were'nt you?

I don't get what people want. It's like they want the Promoter to completely bank roll a high quality Ekstraliga style affair. Not going to happen. They could try and get a league sponsor which may help, but the Promotors have still got to pay the Stadium rent before they start breaking even.

A few years ago at Leicester it was 15/16 quid for PL. Well last night at Brandon it was 17 and you've got to try and pay for Kasprzak, Jonsson and Harris out of the extra quid, not to mention PL Heat Leaders like King, Garrity, Lawson, Kerr in lower order positions.

People who think the quality is still not far off in both Leagues are delusional. Look at Leicester. Hougaard, Watt and Wozniak would eat the PL for breakfast, and then you've got Auty and Starke down at reserve who are PL 1-5 riders. So even the weakest EL team would destroy a PL team.

Totally agree with you, AJs exclusion, I for the life of me could not see anything wrong with the move. Some good racing & looked a ok crowd to me

There was on both counts. Unfortunately Coventry's version of Victor Meldrew has to put a downer on everything. To also say it was poor value for money is ridiculous when apart from the 15 heats of E.L. Speedway there was also a 6 heat MDL match and 3 'Junior' races making a total of 24 races. I really don't know what some people want.

Saturday May 21, 2016

COVENTRY have suffered a blow ahead of their trip to Lakeside on Saturday with Jason Garrity ruled out of the meeting.

Garrity crashed in Heat 11 of the home match against the Hammers on Friday and although he was able to walk off the track, he sustained heavy bruising and is unable to ride tonight.

Bees will operate the rider-replacement facility for Garrity at Purfleet with Danny King, Leigh Lanham, Kacper Woryna and James Sarjeant eligible to take his rides.

Garrity is a huge loss for the bees. His past scores at lakeside have been 15, 11,11, 7

Coventry asset, we get priority surely?

Why No Ben Barker for Garrity?

Roynon isn't named in our regular line up though.

Not sure about Barker. Maybe they think we will do better with RR or maybe he already has family commitments

No, and when you ask them a genuine question as to what they want and how they propose to increase the quality whilst decreasing the cost, they disappear into thin air and don't respond!

4.50pm Saturday Weather Check

Am at Lakeside circuit where it's dry with a high light cloud cover. EL clash scheduled to start at 7.30pm. Six addtional junior races planned which I guess will start circa 6.30pm but no official confirmation of that as yet.

Poor quality equals poor attendance, which is why people are leaving in there droves because year on year the product is watered down. I'm not saying I have the answer, but one things for sure top riders increase the attendance.

And the cost. If the increased revenue covers the cost, great. If not, who picks up the bill for the losses? - certainly not the fans whingeing about the lack of 'names'.
