CB252
agree with what many speedway top riders say which basically is "tracks of whatever shape and size have to be mastered if I'm going to reach the top, Holder himself shoots that theory to rubbish, as he hasn't mastered it and he's been World Champion. Also, Hans Nielsen hated it and he is the second greatest rider of all time. Been to Lakeside dozens of times, and been to dozens of meetings all over the country already this year, and I just hate the track. Give me a Peterborough or a Sheffield any day. Respect the opinion of people who enjoy it though. I can honestly say that, if I become a nomadic fan after the Bees demise, Arena probably won't be on my list to visit. RobMcCaffery
The last time I went to Arena Essex on a Friday, all I could think about was Hackney and how low the sport had fallen.
Sir Jasper
Perhaps now those who do nothing but whine about Lakeside's track shape will firstly listen to someone who, like myself and others, travel to a great many tracks over the course of a season and secondly, agree with what many speedway top riders say which basically is "tracks of whatever shape and size have to be mastered if I'm going to reach the top," and secondly, if physically and financially able, tear themselves away from their computers, tablets (the Apple sort not drugs!), and visit different tracks for themselves! Congratulations to track curator Gerald Richter for once again preparing a racing circuit with shale/grip aplenty both inside and out that produced a heck of a lot of passing, albeit mainly from a rampant Vortex Hammers side. Have a chat with Middlo, Holder and Havvy and ask for their thoughts on the track curator Edited May 24, 2016 by Sir Jasper

How is Nelson the second greatest rider of all time you should have put in your opinion . Did you ever watch Craven /Funding etc ?

Yep, seen them all. I'm a hundred years old! Second best rider of the professional era then behind Mauger. We're talking about riders that could churn out machine like brilliance at both club and international level. Probably a debate for another thread though.
