Starman2006
He didnt take a pop at Poole, he quite rightly pointed out that it was a Poole fan who made a rather idiotic post. But we all know which way it was going whether you agree or not. Well done to Helmsley in bring the sport back to Leicester. And well do e to him for resigning. Now perhaps it can be run properly. He made a complete howler of the track shape when he had a blank canvas, he wouldnt listen to advice and as a result the racing suffered and with it the crowd dwindled. Fresh promoter needed to finish the track, start building a report with the fans and sort out the correct race night. Not that difficult job to be honest. Steve, ive heard several reports about this, somebody moving the pegs to change the layout was one. But somebody needs to held to account for it because they have completely buggered things up. I feel sorry for there fans..
heathen chemistry
sounds like deja vu all over again, yet another disillusioned promoter, i wonder why....seems to me that his ideas were scorned at and maybe even laughed at, how dare a newcomer come in and tell us how to do our job... bspa is inept at looking long term, its always short term tricks for certain clubs to benefit from,, sod the others.... robert72
The club has faced criticism from some on it's offer to LCFC fans for tonight's meeting, but they're at least trying to be pro-active in attracting new fans to the sport. It's no good getting the same old people attending but paying less, they need to attract new fans who will hopefully return, I know it will upset regular supporters ( i'm a Lions season ticket holder myself) , but surely we need to look at the bigger picture & get new people attending, because if not the club will die again & ultimately it will be another nail in the coffin for the sport. They need to have a good product with a good team, they have neither and just a small amount of regular Leicester fans remaining who will have to pay £8 more than someone who has a season ticket for another sport. It should be £10 tonight for everyone and they should of used a different PR approach to bring in Football fans so not to crap on the regulars by looking after newbies. E I Addio
Well done to Helmsley in bring the sport back to Leicester. And well do e to him for resigning. Now perhaps it can be run properly. As for Helmsley and wanting change in the BSPA. You cant do anything from the outside. This is not bad news at all to be honest. t. That's a fair comment Steve , but at this stage we don't know how much of Hemsleys woes are self inflicted and how much are genuine BSPA problems. Hemsley, as you say has done himself no favours with the way he has run his own business. That is not the BSPA 's fault, although in part he has struggled with team building for some, not all reasons beyond his control. The thing I think everybody has missed so far is what exactly is Hemsleys gripe with the BSPA ?Anwser : we don't know , although Hemsley has said more information will be given in the fullness of time. At the moment we don't know whether Hemsleys complaint is basically that the BSPA won't bail him out from problems of his own making or whether he has some ideas that will genuinely modernise the sport (although if the latter he has been very quiet about them) Untill we get some more information about the actual reasons for Hemsleys resignation I think it would be futile to speculate much beyond the points Steve has made.

Coventry move in for a few years and pay rent for a midweek EL team As a Bees fan I'll be the first to say no thanks. Coventry fans don't support midweek Speedway at Brandon let alone half an hour away. Would be financial suicide. Better to mothball and try and get a new track in Cov. I expect that they will decide elite speedway will only run on Wednesday nights next year. Speedway has been dying for the last 25 years and it's needs a miracle outsider to save it. Woz01
Why vote certain things through then? If most of them had issues with it, seems a bit bizarre.I think it was Rosco who said things were rushed through at the AGM in November Buster has to take some criticism, didn't they have another meeting in February to finally agree to the rules and regs? I think Rosco was only talking about the EDR, not the whole thing. It seems unlikely that is the specific thing that caused Hemsley to resign. Gavan
And again a Poole fan misses the whole context of the statement. Its quite clear some promoters have serious concerns how the AGM went and where the sport is heading. someone else moaning about Poole fans A typical response from a Poole Fan. This Guy has tried to make speedway work, He has built a track, that is far better than anything I've seen in Dorset , and you come out with comments like that. The sport is in desperate need of more people like David Hemsley. I suggest you get off your arse and put some positive work into the sport like David Hemsley has done, then you'll be able to make a worth-while comment... until then go outside and play..................... and someone else talking about Poole fans Are you for real ? this bloke has done his utmost for Leicester brought it back after 28 years. Are you blinkered or what surely you want the whole sport to prosper or are you happy for Poole to be the only club in existence they would not have to cheat then would they. and someone else talking about Poole fans Good on David. No point in wasting his time and effort when the BSPA is more corrupt than FIFA by making new rules up just to suit Poole every year. I am a Poole fan but its obvious that the rules are made up for us every year. Nobody can tell me that all of the Promoters agreed to the new rules at this year's AGM. James Sarjeant and Stefan Nielsen are higher up on the draft list than Adam Ellis. Tier 2 draft list might I add. Rules to suit Poole. Krzysztof Buczkowski not on the Heat Leader list when riders of lesser quality are. Rules to suit Poole Away from Poole for a second and tonight we have 2 elite league matches where Kyle Howarth (Wolverhampton) & Adam Ellis (Poole) are riding as Heat Leaders. What a joke. Yet we have Sam Masters (Wolverhampton), Nicolai Klindt (Leicester) & Brady Kurtz (Poole) riding at reserve. WHAT A COCK UP THIS YEARS AGM WAS! There wont be an Elite League next year. Clubs are now calling it a day. David Hemsley and Mick Horton don't want to know now and I don't blame them. oops even a Poole fan talking about Poole fans The club has faced criticism from some on it's offer to LCFC fans for tonight's meeting, but they're at least trying to be pro-active in attracting new fans to the sport. We all know whats happening but please, stop taking pops at Poole which seems to be your agenda. See National stadium thread, and whether you like it or not, speedway WILL have to change. You need to learn to read nobody taking a pop at Poole just the fans He didnt take a pop at Poole, he quite rightly pointed out that it was a Poole fan who made a rather idiotic post. Spot on. Having a go at Poole fans not the club. Bless them for getting their knickers in a twist Helmsley has made mistakes mainly the track but instead of seeing the bigger picture the usual same people come on here with thier bilge slagging the man off. Must be easier next season just to have an Elite league of just Poole might stop them all from enjoying other clubs from folding. But its ok as all promotors should follow the Matt Ford way and everything would be just fine. You do have to wonder about the way some of these Poole fans minds work. Leicester, Coventry , maybe Swindon may not even go to the tapes next season. Ipswich Peterborough Eastbourne Birmingham all dropped out in recent times. This isnt because the clubs arent run properly its the way the sport is going
LisaColette
Where are you having a go at Poole fans anyway? People are allowed an opinion whether you like it or not! Hard luck really isn't it.
OveFundinFan
Poole Speedway run there club how Matt see's fit. How others run there's is entirely up to them. Seems Matt Ford is a clever man but from what others imply, is the way he runs Poole doing the best for British speedway. No point in being the top club when there are no other clubs to compete against.

He has said it publicly, so not sure why people are debating it for tbh.
OveFundinFan
As I said, No point being the top club when there are no other clubs to compete against. No doubt about it, speedway in the UK is going down, its now up to individual promotors to work together for the betterment of the sport, to make sure there is a tomorrow. one of clubs
How refreshing it is to see Poole Speedway fans telling it how it is. Corrupt. Thesedays I am not too bothered who are crowned champions as it means diddly squat, compared to what it used to mean before the emergence of the Violin Case Brigade, who are hell bent on destroying the sport I have loved for forty years to their own ends.
