RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

:::::::::::::

HUNTER BACK TO FACE COLTS!

The BMR Raiders have been boosted by the positive news that George Hunter will return to their line-up as they aim to lasso three more Travel Plus National League points from Sunday’s home clash against the Belle Vue Colts (6pm start).

The 21 year old made significant forward strides when handed a Raiders spot in the second half of last season, but his 2016 campaign is currently just two races old due to a broken wrist suffered while guesting for Plymouth in the BMR Rockets’ opening match back on March 19th.

The cast finally came off on Tuesday, and Team Manager Peter Schroeck is delighted to report on a successful practice session at Rye House this afternoon. “Everything went well for George, and although he hasn’t had proper use of the wrist before now, he has kept himself active in the gym so he is feeling fit and fresh generally. He will be back in the line-up on Sunday, and I can tell you he’s really upbeat and can’t wait to get back out on track.”

The Raiders as a unit are also very much on a high after they collected their first victory of the season on Bank Holiday Monday. Schroeck continues, “The win over Stoke was absolutely brilliant. The boys had been longing for it, and to pull it off despite Rob (Branford) getting run over in one of his races was fantastic. Fortunately, he soldiered on despite his discomfort to help us get the win, and just as importantly he’s as good as gold again now.”

“The Team wants to show that it is not just a training ground – although that is so important – and that it can win too. In Rob and Ben (Morley) we have two of the very best riders in the League, and Luke (Priest) gives us so much extra stability.

“Now, we’ve got George back, rather than having to rely on Rider-Replacement, which hasn’t worked for us. We’ve also officially declared Macauley (Leek) as part of the Team after he initially guested for Kenny (Bowdery). It just wouldn’t be fair to leave him out after the way he’s done the business in his first two matches.

“We’re really looking forward to Sunday. Belle Vue have got their own new kid on the block in Daniel Bewley, who by all accounts turned more than a few heads (with paid 13) on his debut, but the victory over Stoke has made us all hungry for another one.

“Whichever way it goes, one thing I can guarantee is that the boys will give the very best they’ve got - and you can’t ask for more than that.”

BMR Raiders: Harvie Banks, Rob Branford, Connor Locke, George Hunter, Macauley Leek, Ben Morley, Luke Priest (captain)

Belle Vue Colts: Daniel Bewley, David Holt, Andy Mellish, Lee Payne, Rob Shuttleworth, Matt Williamson (captain), Tom Woolley

I ask all R/House fans not to expect too much from young D Bewley, he had never sat on a speedway bike until the turn of this year, his score's for Edinburgh at reserve don't reflect his undoubted talent.

Last night he was superb on a big fast Belle Vue track, he will learn his way round the smaller tracks in time.

Dan can get round the small tracks perfectly well also.

This looks tough for Raiders with Dan Bewley already looking heat leader class at reserve for Belle Vue probably getting 7 rides... No one doubts our top end will do the business,,,,but Williamson goes well round here and Payne is no slouch and i think it will be a win for Belle Vue Hope McCauley Leek continues his promising start ,,Hunter may need a meeting or two to get dialled in again just hope for some good racing

Dan Bewley, has already ridden around Monmore twice which is regarded by some as a trick Track, and others as a Technical Track, and he was so impressive that Cradley booked him as a guest for the 2nd occasion, i doubt it will be any different at Rye House, and it seems he aint a bad gater, which always helps  .

I think it might be close. I'm looking forward to seeing Bewley but I'm not expecting a match winning performance from him. Our place is a totally different proposition to the wide open spaces of Belle Vue, in the PL he's finding Armadale trickier than the away tracks. If Robert's fully fit I can see him and Ben saving the day in heats 13 and 15. Using R/R for Harvie Banks could be a problem though.

There does seem to be a conscientious of opinion that an earlier start would be preferable to many fans

Is the Belle Vue Colts rider Rob Shuttleworth related in any way to the old-time Belle Vue and other northern tracks rider the legendary John 'Slider' Shutlleworth?

What about Ken Shuttleworth of Lancashire Cricket

I was thinking in speedway terms with a possible 'Slider' Shuttleworth-Rob Shuttleworth relationship but that's an interesting comment on your part Rayleigh.

Close meeting, but dragged on a bit following injury to Macauley Leek. Impressed with young Dan Bewley when he gets away from the gate he is smooth and very fast. Needs some experience and knowledge in what to do when he misses the gate.

On the plus side Luke Priest and George Hunter. Good as expected Rob and Ben. But apart from them we have such a long tail that I think we are going to struggle. No complaints with effort, but more points needed.
